“We started our collection last year after being inspired by a fellow teacher of mine from Manalapan, Jamie Bruno. She has been doing this for several years and I wanted to get started with our own
collection for the local community,” Mindy Musillo said. “Thanksgiving has always been my favorite day of the year since it is about being together with the people most important to me. I want-

By Bob Vosseller HOWELL – Two out of three Board of Education incumbents retained their seats during the Nov. 5 school board race. The four-candidate race saw challenger Joseph Tate edge out long-time incumbent Laurence Gurman while Mark A. Bonjavanni and Cristy Mangano easily won back their seats. Each of the candidates were vying for full 3-year terms. Mangano, 41, of Snow Chief Court received the highest number of votes with 4,993 capturing 29.6% of the vote on election night. The registered nurse has served one full term on the board and will start her second in January. Mangano had said one of the top challenges facing the board was state aid cuts which would make the board have to “work harder to make sure our students get what they need as well as being fiscally responsible for all our taxpayers. We really have to look at not only the educational aspect of our students but our student’s well-being,” Bonjavanni, 65, currently serves as the board’s president and received 4,917 votes and 29.1% of the vote. The Salem Hill Road resident is a real estate salesman and served on several committees as a citizen member before being first elected to the board in 2000. He also expressed concerns regarding state aid funding cuts during the campaign and said, “a few of (Election - See Page 6)
