Pond water fountains guide Installing a fountain in your pond is simple and its adds to both the oxygenation and visual effect of the pond. A pond fountain is usually made up of a submersible re circulating electric pump having a fountain jet also known as spray fountain attached to it. Pond water fountains come in different sizes and styles. The design of the spray is a matter of choice but it is important to keep in mind the size of the pond. You can consult your retailer while choosing the fountain for your pond. Mostly, the accessories required for a fountain pond are a fountain jet and pump, a big terracotta pot or a statue, some pebbles and an electric supply source. A Pond fountain can be installed in four easy steps: 1. Installation in a close proximity: The pond fountain must be installed where you can easily look for its maintenance. If the pond is small then it can be monitored easily but if the pond is large, pond fountain should be placed within reach for easy maintenance. 2. Placing the pump on an elevation to avoid debris getting into it: Care should be taken while fixing your water pump in the fountain. It is important to place the pump slightly higher than the floor because placing it otherwise, will allow the debris to be easily sucked by the pump, resulting in choking of the pump. This will stop the water circulation process and the fountain will stop giving out water. 3. Outdoor electric socket should be installed: Try installing an out door electrical socket never the pond fountain and keep it exclusively for that. This socket must have a GCFI Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter also known as Residual Current Device in countries other than U.S and Canada. This device helps in preventing electric shock. Plug the pump into the electrical socket. If the cable is too long, it can be wounded round the fountain under water where

it will not be noticed. If the cord has to pass through the lawn make it hidden by pressing it in the ground by making a slot few inches deep in the ground and pushing the cord into it . 4. Adjusting the flow of water using the screw or switch on the pump: After doing all the arrangements, its time now to check the flow of the water, adjust the way in which you want the water to come out of the fountain. If the jet falls at the sides of the water rather than in the middle, the water is lost faster. If the jet throws water at a high speed then a lot of water will be splashed outside the pond. This would require filling of the pond again. So, it is important to check the flow by first starting it at a 'low' or 'down' position and then and then slowing raising the level. It would be a good idea if a family member or a friend is there to guide you. Ensure that the water falling from the spray fountain goes back into the pond without spilling outside. Once, you have set the perfect level, you have finished the installation. Now, you can relax and enjoy your lovely pond fountain.
