Thanks for picking up our fourth annual issue of the Florida Art Guide. If you’re like us, you enjoy going to art shows. You delight in being surrounded by the tantalizing mix of colors, forms, textures, creativity (and fresh air) that can only be found at such an event. Being able to meet the folks who create this inspirational work, and hear their stories, is an added bonus. The same feelings apply when visiting a regional art gallery, or being given the opportunity to get inside working artists’ studios.
Afterwards, you’re often left wondering: “where can I go next weekend to experience something like this again?” Well, that’s what prompted the publication of this directory.
The Florida Art Guide was years in the making and our first three issues were a resounding success. Lots of research, thought and care went into creating this guide for you. We wanted it to be a functional, attractive, easy-to-use resource with accurate, up-to-date information.
The Florida Art Guide includes many galleries that primarily offer original art and

contemporary craft. The fair and event listings don’t include every art/craft show or art event. The juried shows and events listed here should be worth taking a “road trip” to visit.
When you talk to these shops and artists thank them for helping to make the Florida Art Guide such a success. We look forward to making the Guide bigger and better each year.
I hope the Art Guide helps you discover the diversity of original art and fine craft available to see and buy all over Florida.
Vicki Gillespie Publisher, Florida Art Guide
Described as “a living legend,” and “the sweetest, most humble guy you’ll ever meet,” Curtis Arnett’s career has spanned decades beyond his tenure as one of Florida’s Highwaymen. Born in smalltown Greenville, Fla., population 1,163 at the time of his birth in 1950, he grew up in Fort Pierce, Florida, the center of the Highwaymen movement.
Inducted into the Florida Artists Hall of Fame in 2004, Arnett is a sought-after speaker and teacher. He continues to paint, and his trademark hammocks, cypress trees, and reflective waters still feature in his work today, evoking an enchanted Florida, caught by his brush, and forever suspended in time.

Many galleries have receptions for the artists when a new exhibition opens. Check with galleries in your area to see what events are coming up. You’ll probably have fun, meet interesting like-minded people, and perhaps make a connection with some artwork that speaks to you.

The listings in this guide include art galleries or events in each of the following cities and towns. Before heading out on a Florida road trip, use this index to find galleries you can visit along the way. Or, find an art fair or event that you can use as an excuse for a road trip!
We hope this Art Guide inspires you to make an “art trip” around Florida to visit some galleries outside of your area. If so, you might want to call ahead (or visit some websites) to check hours. Some galleries are seasonal and may be closed, or have shortened hours, during the off season.
