This library is a depository for a special collection book made by visiting SCAD studio artists. The books are essentially a gift for the Lacoste community and future SCAD scholars. The books in this library are never checked out. Thus, the building is a library ‘unique’, and in some ways both modern and historic in function. Books varying in size and interacting with the books should be a space of celebration and generational exchange.

The purpose of this project was to create an experiential learning school starting from old ruins taking into consideration old walls, boundaries, materiality, and context. This school allows people to experiment with spaces around the building without feeling enclosed in a room because spaces were created with no walls to create an internal circulation without defining edges. Offering a wide range of spaces and activities that will attract kids as the fenestrations, views, and materiality making them feel safe and comfortable
The design promotes a sense of place, creativity, and experimentation by providing many opportunities to interact with the site itself; having at the north the Savannah River and at the south the street to create opportunities for people there.
