Location: Pullman, Washington
WSU Gateway Interdisciplinary Studio’s focus is the connectivity between Pullman city and the campus of Washington State University. The site’s purpose is to encourage a community that residents and students will visit throughout the seasons. A garden strip was explored in order to increase gardening accessible to all while also increasing the habitat for pollinators and the attraction of both students and residents.
Hand-Drawing of site’s surrounding
The process began with a hand-drawing in order to further understand surrounding areas and potential needs.
Section of the South looking North Section shows the lively environment of the garden strip. It includes shade features for sun protection and sitting areas.
Masterplan of Pollination of the Mind
Top view shows a site that was turned from a paved parking lot into a gardening strip which helps the community, ecology and environment.

Section of gardening areas
ADA accessible planting beds are placed in order for an equitable opportunity for people of all abilities to garden.
Location: The Americas
Ecological sections placed an emphasis on community, landscape restoration, and historical ecology as they relate to design. I researched rainfall, snowfall, soil type, flora and fauna as well as their scientific names. Through the use of Illustrator and Photoshop I was able to achieve realistic renderings of real-life ecologies throughout the Americas.
Prairie Ecology
Ecological section demonstrates diversity of the environment through rendering of flora, fauna, rain and soil type.
Coastal Ecology
Ecological section shows history of the ecology and variety of environment.
Forest Ecology
The pond attracts fauna important in the Skagit like ducks and humans are able to relax with the natural environment provided.
The Cascade mall is a predominately vacant, 64 acre, site in Burlington, Washington. Through Virdiscent Aqua I achieved a thought out project by exploring different populations that make up the Skagit County and incorporating a design where people are able to form communities through pocket neighborhoods, and large common gathering spaces. By keeping in mind that the Skagit County is a floodplain, I incorporated a stormwater retention pond where people are able to have a feel of the space and interact with its fauna.
