Bromsgrove Festival is rising from its pandemic slumbers albeit, like most of us when waking up, it will be a little slow getting itself moving!

As this article was being written there were, subject to restrictions, plans for High Street events on most of the Saturdays of the festival period – June 26th to July 25th - which all the family can enjoy. These events are still in the planning stage so keep your eye on social media and local press for updates or visit

It is hoped that, on June 26th, Bromsgrove Fair Day will take place when the Court Leet will uphold the tradition of proclaiming King John’s Royal Charter from 1199 and the traditional parade can take place.

Live events already definitely scheduled to take place are a return of the Music at Lunchtime Concerts presented by Festival Classics at Avoncroft Museum of Buildings. These shows include Quirkish Delights featuring Michael Lunt on June 30th, Hush featuring the world class voices of Papagena on July 7th, The Romantic Era featuring the Orchestra of St John on July 14th and Bach to Bernstein featuring The Sennet Brass Ensemble on July 21st. Tickets can be obtained by visiting www.FestiveClassics.co.uk

Bromsgrove Folk Club and Festival have bitten the bullet and their annual Folk Music Festival will take place at The Bowling Green Inn, Shaw Lane, Stoke Prior, B60 4BH over the long weekend of July 8th to 11th.

Featured artists in an all-star line-up include The Lost Notes (pictured) and Mad Jocks and Englishmen from Birmingham, Gloucestershire’s The Jigantics, Dave Gibb from the Scottish Borders, Anthony John Clarke from Northern Ireland and Jez Lowe from County Durham as well as many others. Tickets can be obtained from

The Midlands Sinfonia will be holding two concerts on June 26th, one in the afternoon and one in the evening at The Ark in Alvechurch. Details of the concerts and how to buy tickets can be found at

During the pandemic many resourceful arts organisations have been continuing online. One of these is Bromsgrove Folk Club who have to date broadcast 20 shows on a private YouTube channel and, as part of Bromsgrove Festival, will, on Thursday, June 24th at 8pm, broadcast a free to air YouTube concert featuring highlights of those 20 concerts. Details of how to view can be found at www. bromsgrovefolkclub.co.uk It is anticipated that, during The Bromsgrove Festival period, other organisations will be featuring virtual presentations. 2020 was a write off as far as Bromsgrove Festival was concerned. It is to be hoped that 2021 will provide a stepping stone for bigger and better events in the coming years and we look forward to announcing more 2021 events as they emerge. Creating fun and inspiration for all!

The Creative Art and Craft Show is taking place at the Bromsgrove Hotel, on the A38 just off junction 4 of the M5. The Show will relaunch many small businesses that have been unable to trade effectively over the last 12 months.

Most importantly it gives our local community and the Midlands region a great opportunity to experience a continental street party atmosphere without getting on a plane! It promises to be an inspiring fun event designed for the whole family to enjoy and have a great day out. What’s more, its free entry.

At the Show, in the newly refurbished Hotel, there will be ample opportunities to select hand-crafted and Midlands designed goods, for use in the home and garden. There will be a wonderful mix of gift and table items, side by side with accessories for Summer, textiles and toys.

Local amateur art groups are also displaying their talents and offering a full range of pastels, oils, watercolour and much more, original artwork at truly affordable prices. Visitors will have the opportunity to watch a pastel demonstration (amongst others) or sign up to join a local class and get ‘hands-on’ with a new creative skill.

To top the lot there will be a Curated Art Exhibition - with submissions from across the Midlands. This quiet and reflective Zone is designed to lift, inspire and elate your senses.
