Flying is fun - join us!

Have you ever been interested in flying a radio controlled plane and thought that it would be just too expensive and too difficult? Here is your chance to come and try your hand at this fascinating hobby.

Bromsgrove Model Flying Club have been flying model aircraft for approaching 50 years and have members aged from 12 to 80. We fly models ranging from simple electric foam plastic ones to larger petrol powered scale models.

This hobby is open to anyone at a reasonable cost and you no longer even need to be able to build a model from a plan as many are now available partially or completely assembled. If you decide to build your own plane from a kit, there will be plenty of help and advice available.

Like all electrical items, the radio control systems are much cheaper and more reliable than in the past and many perfectly useable systems are available second hand.

We also have ‘dual control’ systems that enable beginners to ‘buddy up’ to an experienced pilot who can instantly take control of necessary.

Potential new members can have a go on a club plane under the guidance of one of our experienced members at no cost and in a safe environment with none of their own equipment.

This also enables new members with their own planes and equipment to learn how to fly without as much risk of bending their beautiful new plane on its first flight.

Joining a club is also the best way into this hobby as there is a great camaraderie between the members and endless advice available as to what to buy to ensure a smooth path to becoming an expert pilot.

We provide members with free tuition to attain the certification required to fly on their own and all members are covered by relevant British Model Flying Association third party insurance and follow all government registration guidelines.

As a club, we have social events and as most members are generally interested in all things aeronautical, we also arrange occasional visits to model and full size air shows during the year.
