Brenda Killigrew Sewing Studio and Inkberrow Design Centre Sew for the NHS Tutors and students work together whilst staying apart to sew for the NHS

ormally a busy studio full of students learning sewing skills in a sociable environment, Brenda Killigrew Sewing Studio may be closed at the moment, but this hasn’t stopped students, customer and staff alike from using their skills for a good cause. As part of the nationwide “For the Love of Scrubs” movement on Facebook, the centre has become a collection point for finished projects in Bromsgrove. They have also been supplying sewists with thread and buttons to make scrubs, bags and much-needed buttoned head bands for masks. Brenda is “proud of the achievements our staff and students have made and how much they have taken this movement to their hearts. They are working hard making items from headbands to scrubs and doing their bit”. Small businesses on Worcester Road have been uniting for this cause. Bromsgrove Printing have supplied the sewing team with print outs of the scrubs patterns whilst Bromsgrove Rotary Club have raised funds to purchase 250 metres of fabric which Brenda will distribute to staff and students to make up into scrubs thanks to their member Tony Docherty of Maekong Thai reaching out to the studio. Meanwhile the studio shop has become one of 4 UK retailers for a replacement filter for sewn face masks, and will donate 10% to NHS charities from the sales of this product.
