Description
A photo gallery showing a model of the public toilet building project at the entrance to the Tatra National Park in Poland. The plot of land selected as the construction site is a clearing where felled trees are stored. It is also the place that is the beginning of the national park. When we reach the cottage, we are already warmed up with a 15-minute walk from the parking lot. In the project, we wanted, above all, to show respect for natural soil. Hence, we decided to limit the building area to 45 square meters. The whole thing was covered with a light roof with collar The object consists of two entities. The first is a wooden roof with the same degree of inclination, structure and articulation as the local hats. The second is a concrete core in which auxiliary functions are located.
The roof is partially open so more sunlight can penetrate the interior. The walls of the concrete block are perforated. It is a formal reference to the wooden architecture of the region that used logs. In this case, wooden logs were used for the formwork to obtain a negative of the log house. Shorter facades are covered with movable planes that control the access of light.
We’ve decided to introduce a system to recuperate water in the underground tank. Thanks to this circulation the usage of fresh water dropped 40%
