PRIMARY SCHOOL TÝNEC NAD SÁZAVOU

collaboration with Ing. Arch. MgA Ondřej Blaha and MgA. Anna Svobodová 3rd place in a invited competition

The proposal extends the existing pavilion-based, predominantly corridorbased, school scheme with a solitary volume extension that adds to the interior by adding to the lack of proportion and quality of the central space. The volume of the extension is also structured in such a way that it relates to the existing south pavilion in a completely organic waythrough a repetition of stepped functional units of stem classrooms, it funnels from a slender pavilion into a compact block with a top-lit residential staircase at its centre of gravity. The way the extension is linked thus does not limit the existing -

pavilions, which remain directly connected to the garden.

Along the opposite side, along Na Hlinkách Street, the tract of vocational classrooms on the first floor and the canteen with kitchen on the ground floor is naturally oriented, with a logical and collision-free solution of supply and linking the multi-purpose canteen to the public entrance area of the school. The entire tract deliberately protrudes at both ends, thus better defining and enclosing the schoolyard with a mature tree row of valuable and already massive lime trees. It also defines the missing corner on the -

opposite side of the entrance and precedes similarly to the existing main entrance, thus confirming the pedestrian axis of the street. Komenský.

In the central inner space between the classrooms, the two orthogonal directions balance each other to create an evocative and atypical space, as a contrast to the classroom spaces themselves, which encourages interaction, offering a variety of nooks and crannies and views out through the spacious loggias that offer the possibility of spending breaks in the fresh air or even extending the teaching space itself.

XS XS S

The specified parcel is located in the center of the historic core of the original development of the Vršovice district. Only a few fragments of old village houses remain. These are surrounded by block structure from the 19th century. Given plot is located In the middle of the block. The complex plot is characterised by its distinctive topography. It is a hill in the middle of the block, which slopes down on all sides. The terrain offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Prague.

I propose three pairs of houses that are connected by a south-facing -

pavilion. I have identified the most valuable quality of the plot as its complex terrain, which I am trying to preserve tel quel. The design of the houses thus gradually grows with the terrain in a pyramidal composition. The gradation is created by the split between the pairs of houses. The whole composition is completed with a tower at the northeastern point of the site. The houses thus form a common courtyard which is bathed in the southern sun. But there are also more intimate bays between the houses that have the potential to become a focal point for the community.

TRAM DEPOT

ARTS & CRAFTS

KOŽELUŽSKÁ

WS 23/24 - ŠA AVU - STUDIO ŠIK - OLOMOUC

Published and exhibited at MOMENTY Trienále SEFO 2024

The proposal deals with the possibility of transformation of the DPMO site located beyond the northern boundary of the historic centre of Olomouc. The assignment envisages the preservation of the function of the tram depot on the ground floor, above which an arts & crafts centre is to be built. It’s two houses in one!

The trams reached the plot in the 1970s for capacity reasons. In the past, however, there was a block of tannery houses on the site, which were characterised by dark, high roof trusses used for drying leather. After the Second World War, these houses were demolished and never replaced.

The proposed new building volume respects the historic lot line in -

Koželužská Street. The building is materially divided into 2 parts, which are interconnected by a communication ambit. It is accessible by staircases from the street as well as by a staircase and an elevator located in the main building. In the first part on the ground floor there is a depot with three tracks and a total capacity of 8 wagons. Above the mass of the carriage house there are 6 atypical roofs, whose expression and mass is based on the tanneries. In these spaces are situated the individual workshops and the exhibition space. The second part of the building consists of an octagonal building, which on the ground floor serves as a multifunctional hall with the possibility of opening to the surrounding space. Above the hall there is gallery.

COURTYARD OF NATIONAL MUSEUM OF AGRICULTRE

ADMISSION ASSIGNMENT - ŠA AVU - STUDIO ŠIK - PRAGUE

The project is the result of a three-day assignment for the second round of admission examinations to Miroslav Šik’s studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. The task was to design the roofing of the courtyard of the National Museum of Agriculture on Letná Street in Prague. The roofing is to serve the function of various events such as weddings, workshops, concerts, exhibitions, external expositions of the museum or, for example, farmer’s markets. It is a multifunctional roofed space.

My design is based on the archetypal shape of a barn. I am trying to use contemporary architectural language to interpret it. The structure is made up of a lightweight timber frame, which is filled with formwork concrete blocks. The roof is made up of skylights and panels clad - in corrugated metal. Light streams into the interior through zenithal skylights and windows. Urbanistically, the design of the hall extends into the space between the high school and the museum, creating a roof accessible to everyone.

COOPERATIVE HOUSING VRŠOVICKÁ

WS 22/23 - FA CTU - KUZEMENSKÝ & KUNAROVÁ - PRAGUE

The plot is located in the wider centre of Prague in the Vršovice district. Characteristic for the location is the alternation of urban structures. In the immediate vicinity of the site there is an elementary school, a development from the 2000s, a sports hall and a home for the elderly. From the north the tranquility of the Botič and Grébovka, from the south the hustle and bustle of the street and the railway. In between all this is situated a parcel overlooked for years, on which currently stands a petrol station and 3 standardized kindergarten buildings. My design seeks to connect the -

surrounding buildings to create a compact and dense urban structure. On the site of the petrol station and the kindergarten, I propose 8 apartment buildings, which are arranged in a deconstructed urban block. The proposed structure is the result of stacking one primary residential unit. The advantage of the proposed housing unit is its character, which allows for both solitary positioning and linear arrangement in a row of buildings. Corners of the plot belong to people and trees. At the focal point of every corner plaza is a sycamore tree. Trees on each piazzetta unifies their -

different identities. I place spaces in the corners of the sections, for commercial use but also for community life. In contrast, beyond the courtyard gates is a community courtyard formed by a communal garden, a community square and four gravel bays. The communal courtyard flows seamlessly into the front gardens of the individual apartments. The courtyard is thus fenced and passable through gates restricted to night-time use. The courtyard becomes a focal point of the community and a safe place for all ages and social groups.

COLLAGE OF

CARE CENTRE BARRANDOV

SS 21/22 - FA CTU - KUZEMENSKÝ & KUNAROVÁ - PRAGUE

The proposed care centre for the long-term care centre is located in the Prague district of Barrandov. The plot is characterised by a kind of emptiness, which I consider its greatest added value. Basically, there‘s nothing going on and yet it feels right. With my design I wanted to leave this atmosphere as much as possible.

The care centre is designed for a capacity of 156 patients. It serves also the public and has a rehabilitation centre, a gym, a florist and a café on the ground floor. I have designed 6 units of 26 patients each. These are always placed -

in pairs on one floor. The units are oriented towards three diagonally placed atriums. Patients can take in their atmosphere from the terrace. The white façade and ceramic tiles accentuate the vacationlike atmosphere.

The floor plan of the care centre creates three square, diagonally arranged atriums. They are all similar in character, yet a little different. These atriums are oriented to the residence corridors, which serve as imaginary grandstands. At the centre of the action are the cherry trees and the bird fountain.

,which is regularly decorated with a grid of individual rooms, is perhaps more reminiscent of an enfilade than a hospital corridor. Its refinement, however, is disturbed by the utilitarian character of this space. There is a rotopad by one window, chambermaids by another, and a large armchair by a third. The care cerntre dispones with single and double rooms. The double rooms are characterized by their cross layout, which allows both patients similar comfort and privacy. The spaces are provisionally separated from each other, but do not lose their social character.

RESIDENCY GRÜNHAUS OLD TOWN SQUARE

WS 21/22 - FA CTU - CÍSLER & MILEROVA - PRAGUE

Nominated for school price DRUHÁ KŮŽE 2021

The Old Town Square has witnessed a number of important events in Czech history. From executions and demonstrations, through ceremonies to Velvet revolution.

The complex urban composition formed over the centuries was disrupted during the Prague sanitation at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The town hall block and buildings in the northern part of the square underwent a major transformation. During the sanation, the solitary Krennuv House was demolished. This great intervention changed the atmosphere and the character of the -

- 2022

once medieval square. In the northern part, the square opened towards the newly created Pařížská Street and the Church of St. Nicholas. The integrity of the square was definitively disrupted at the end of World War II, when the northern neo-Gothic part of the town hall block was demolished. Despite the 8 architectural competitions and countless designs, the square is still unfinished. With its simple form, preservation of the original floor plan and unique facade, Grünhaus tries to fit into the historical environment of the Old Town Square with today‘s architectural -

language, without significantly disturbing the spirit of the place.

The apartment building is used for temporary housing of visiting professors, nobelists and for representative housing of the management of Charles University. Specifically, there are 33 apartments with areas from 40 to 162 square meters.

WÄCHTER HAUS KORNO

SS 20/21 - FA CTU - BALEJOVÁ & MRÁZOVÁ

Study of a family home in Korno, by the rail line Prague – Beroun. The house for a young family is in direct contact with the railway. It is situated on a train embankment, on the site of a former guard house. The location offers breathtaking views of the river, the rails, and the limestone rock massifs. The project tries to communicate with the railway and surrounding nature by revolving around its own axis. It turns towards the sun, the train, the views. The floor plan of the family house is based on the rectangular floor plan of the original guard house. The principle of the 5 pointed star is based on 5 dominants of the locality .
