// MASS EVOLUTION

// APARTMENT FIRST FLOOR PLAN

The simplest of shapes were manipulated and evolved to create the mass.

The form pulls directly from the elements of the MKT Trail, the Flat Branch Creek, and the southern hill of the site.

6. KITCHEN 7. LIVING

APARTMENT 1 LIVING

Inspiration for the living room extrusions was derived taken from stacked rocks in the Flat Branch Creek bed.

Break the shape into multiple building blocks and slice away edges and corners to represent the reduction of certain elements.

Slicing these masses creates a different spacial experience in each unit.

MATERIALITY

BCJ created ornament through the accentuation and celebration of connections throughout the building.

The roof gracefully mimics the beautiful mountain scape while the roof slopes to optimize heat gain and materiality responds to the multitude of trees.

Alvar Aalto aimed to design a unique house to the caliber of Fallingwater and replicated a distinct kidney shape throughout the house.

The materials used are to give the feeling of a forest with various sizes of wood columns and different flooring.
