Ffynone House School Trust — Leavers’ Yearbook 2006

Welcome to the first ever Ffynone House School Leavers’ Yearbook. The purpose of the book is simple and obvious — to provide a small memento of your time at Ffynone. The format is very straight-forward; what particular memory do you have of school, where might you be in 10 years’ time and what final statement would you like to make. How you chose to answer the questions was entirely up to you (as long as it was reasonably polite) and so what follows are the comments from the ‘Class of 2006’. We have included entries from members of the present lower sixth form so that they can share some of their memories and feelings about their friends who are leaving for the big wide world. Because I’m typing all of this I decided that I would get to write an entry as well and I gave myself more space, so here it is… I’ll be sorry to see these people leave: Most of you! (You wouldn’t believe me if I said all) My memorable moments are: the Sixth form Army Challenges, skiing in Vermont and, in particular, having the privilege of being entertained by some magnificent music and drama productions over the years. Doing the lights gave me the best seat in the house and it was always a pleasure watching. But, of course, it’s the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award that sticks in my mind. I can remember most of the expeditions that many of you did at Bronze, Silver and Gold and know that the experiences you had will stay with you for many years to come. My message: Keep in touch with friends—they’re sometimes hard to find but easy to lose so look after them. And don’t forget to visit us back at Ffynone; we may still be here in ten years time and will want to know if your predictions came true! Whatever you choose to do, do it well and do it right, and you won’t go far wrong. Good luck, love and kisses, Mr B.

My message: Charity fundraising; starring in the Mr X Factor competition; gathering pasta for Romania; beating all the opposition in the Army Challenges; performing in the pantomime with only two days to rehearse; organising the Valentines’ Ball; battling through DofE expeditions and supervising wet breaks in the hall; whatever you have done it has been with good humour, enthusiasm and a real sense of camaraderie. I will really miss you, year 13. You have been a brilliant sixth form and in the words of that cheesy song you all sang so well, I hope that you will... “Reach for the Stars”

My message: Two words come to mind when I think of 11F — variety and complaints. What a varied bunch you were but what a great form. It will seem strange not to have to hear the daily stream of complaints about you from your beloved teachers. Still, you have been very kind both to me personally and to each other. I wish you all every success in whatever you do. Please keep in touch — particularly if you have a winning lottery ticket. Vale!

My message: Year 11 is a time of many changes. It is an end and a beginning, presenting both pupils and form teachers with a host of new challenges. Form 11H has followed a determined and happy course through all of these and with only the slightest of nudges from me. They began the year as friends and I believe that they leave with even stronger bonds than before. FHS pupils have a habit of keeping in touch and I’m sure this year will be no exception. Wherever you find yourselves in the future, your successes will be richer for it and any failures less important. Thank you for being such a cheerful and vibrant form.
