This project was apart of the MBMA (Metal Building Manufacturers Association) International Design competition. We were tasked with designing a suitable recreation facility for the Texas A&M University System Rellis Campus in College Station. This required the use of metal building design elements such as tapered beams and columns. The old softball field on our chosen site inspired the main concept behind our design. frame would follow. Our intent was to create a facility for students with a sustainable modular design that challenged the metal building capabilities.

In designing for the 2024 Americas Cup Race we observed the current coastline of Catalonia and the distinct contrast between its natural and artificial sections. The natural provide a vital permeability whereas artificial segments tend to lack organicity. Our solution is to combine them through a permeable urban beach by bringing the elements of a coral reef from below to the surface. It promotes the importance of coastal ecosystems, sustainable architectural practices and, pave a path for modern coastal development.

This project was focused on designing a solution to the air, water, and heat issues in the Houston area. From the neighborhoods that were directly affected by large industry pollution, we chose an empty lot in the Greater 5th Ward. This systematic way of living serves permanence and urgency while displaying self-sustaining properties with a series of shelters, resorvoirs, cisterns, a clinic, an education facility, and outdoor entertainment.

This project explores representation through architectural assemblies and materials. There is also a focus on understanding the timber “Wood Language” in design. It helps to establish a work flow from digital mock-up to physical model. in the digital work we started with the initials of our names. Then we allowed the ecoregion and chosen materials to dictate the overall physical outcomes.

Set in :Sugarland, TX

This project explores the adaptive reuse of the former imperial sugar factory in Sugarland, TX. It incorporates precedent studies from Louis Kahn with a focus on the effects of served and servant spaces in architecture. The purpose is to educate and embrace the strong impact held. Visitors immerse themselves in the culture amongst four floors; a reception and gift shop, offices and meeting spaces, a history and education library, and a 360° gallery. The orientation follows the hierarchy of 4 prisms and the layout of the land. The windows circulate the exterior and create carved spaces for balconies. It offers visitors a visual connection to the historic neighborhoods that were previously segregated along the north, south, east and west facades of the factory.
