Visit Balboa Park Both indoor and outdoor entertainment choices await visitors at the nation’s largest urban cultural park, Balboa Park, home to the world-famous San Diego Zoo, fifteen museums, and numerous performing arts venues and amusements (e.g. the Miniature Railroad, San Diego Youth Symphony). Anza- Borrego Desert State Park For a getaway from the city scene and beachfront activities, a drive to nearby Julian, California to the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is in order. This 600,000-acre natural wonder (the largest in the state) is home to one of the world’s biggest populations of Bighorn sheep (over 250), over 80 species of birds, and thousands of wildflower varieties. The park also hosts many events, including a monthly stargazing show at the amphitheater.
