TENNIS/PICKLEBALL PROGRAMS JUNIOR TENNIS CAMP

OPEN PLAY

The schedule is as follows:

The Tennis Center will close early on July 4th

Camp designed for players age 8 and up.

Player development through drills, instruction, and games for players of all levels.

SUMMER HOURS Open play is now available for pickleball.

Miami Shores Recreation is excited to provide the spectacular summer camp this year. Daily activities will include indoor and outdoor play, innovative games, art, snacktivity and special events. Fee includes one field trip and three field trips to Wild Waters Park each week.

Field trips will be age appropriate and include Miami Marlins game, Monster Mini Golf, Rapids Water Park, Gametime and movie theaters.

Bring your own lunch or purchase an individual boxed Snack Shack Lunch on-line @www.shoressnackshack.com. Lunches must be purchased online for the week by 9 p.m. on Sunday of each week.

Price per week is $40. or $50. There is a snack only option. For more information email John with any questions at miamishoresdsnackshack@gmail.com Sample weekly menu would include pizza, chicken nuggets, grilled cheese and snacks include ice cream, chips and popcorn.

Camp Information

Groups

Campers will be divided into age appropriate groups and will not be able to switch groups.

Ages 5-11 years (must be 5 by August 31, 2022) Camp Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Mobile Drop off from 9:00 a.m. – 9:15 a.m.

Pick up from 3:45 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Face Coverings

Face coverings will be optional.

Due to limited space available - This camp can not be combined with any other half day camps including sport camps.

Wild Waters Aquatic Park

Kids will visit “Wild Waters” Aquatic Park 3 days each week. Campers will Splash, Slide and Spray their way through this water playground. The new playground features 5 slides and over 30 interactive water features, with a giant bucket that dumps over 300 gallons of water! Campers are required to wear a SPF Water shirt or Rashguard when visiting the Aquatic Center.

Location: Community Center June 13-17, June 20-24 Cooking with kids educates and empowers children to make healthy food choices through hands-on learning. If your child enjoys being in the kitchen and is not a picky eater and wants to learn how to prep, cook, bake and of course eat, then this camp is for them. Each day will consist of different homemade recipes that are fun, kid friendly and shareable with the whole family. Campers will learn how to prepare various dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinners throughout the week along with groovin snacks. Some dishes include, mini quiches, pancakes, wraps, pizza, tacos, cookies and much more! Location: Community Center July 18-22, July 25-29 Learning how to sew helps students build self-confidence while learning how to be patient. Come join us for a fun filled week of creating, designing and sewing one of a kind projects. Campers will learn how to operate a sewing machine and use various settings to create fantastic creations. Your child will also learn how to make their own fabric through different processes called cyanotype and tiedying! Art Mania

Location: Community Center July 25-29 I am excited to welcome all campers to a magical world of Art. Each day I will introduce a different medium and kids will be immersed with supplies to create their one-of-a-kind masterpieces. With more access than ever to digital distraction, social media, social pressure in school, and self-image issues, regular exercise has never been more important.

This program is age-specific. It focuses on teaching correct and safe movement patterns, especially focused on the Primal Movement Patterns (Squat, Bend, Lunge, Push, Pull, Twist, and Gait) in a Small Group, fun, pressure free environment. We pay attention to not only to the kid’s physical development, but to their mental and emotional development as well. The Aquatic Center has teamed up with the American Red Cross to offer their Learn to Swim Program. Participants must preregister for all the classes.

This is NOT a Learn to Swim Camp. Child MUST know how to swim with rotary breathing at least 2 lengths of the pool (50 yards) to attend. * Participants will be evaluated by instructors.

Swim Camp will include stroke technique instruction, plyometrics/ core strengthening exercises, water safety instruction and aquatic games.

GROUPS: All swimmers will be grouped according to age and ability level LUNCH-Lunch may be purchased for an additional $35./week or bring your own lunch. Lunches from home must be non-microwaveable and can not need to be refrigerated.

Preschool Aquatics Activity# 344004 (Preschool Levels 1, 2 & 3) This class is for 4 and 5 year olds who are ready to learn introductory water skills as well as beginner swimming skills. Students will learn to enter the pool properly, float, glide and the basics of front crawl (freestyle).

6 months to 3 years (one Child per parent) Younger children will adjust to the water by learning skills such as placing the face in the water, flutter kicks and pre-floating skills. All Parents are taught how to instruct their children and recognize any errors in their child’s swimming technique. Children are required to wear swim diapers. Parents must be in the water with their children. Instructors will work at the skill level of each child regardless of varied abilities.

Our team is a year round competitive swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities.

Our goal is to create a safe, friendly and fun environment that nurtures the competitive spirit of club/team swimming, such that all swimmers can achieve their highest personal and athletic potentials.

The number of practice days is determined by the coach’s recommendations. All youth interested in competitive swimming are invited to try-out for the team.

It was built and is maintained to provide a fun and safe play area for children. Children must be supervised at all times. Please bring proof of residency.

BATHROOM KEYS: AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER FOR $10.

MUST SHOW PROOF OF MIAMI SHORES RESIDENCY TOT LOT PAVILION The pavilion is available for rental to residents for birthday parties or picnics. The tot lot area will be open to the public.

The basketball pass ($1./session or $20./ year) and the Identification Card may be purchased at the Community Center. Usage is restricted to residents and their guests. Each resident may bring one nonresident guest. Guest passes may be purchased by the resident at the Community Center and Tennis Center on weekends. The cost is $2.00 per visit.
