我喜歡逛書店，書架上總是佈滿著各式各樣的書本，撇除承載知識系統之外，它們一樣俱備著單純的 物質性。例如封面的顏色、書本的大小、裝禎的方式、內頁的質量等，這些書本經由設計師巧妙的裝 禎設計後，像是一個又一個奇特的藝術品，觀看它們的時候我常感受到許多的靈感與驚喜。 我好奇我與這些素未謀面的創作者的關係是什麼，而他們又與書本的作者關係是什麼，在這些隱匿的 關係之間是否能透過我的介入，建構出一種新的可能性或甚至是開啟一段有趣的對話。在這想像的維 度裡，或許有一天，我與這些既陌生又不陌生的他者們，也會在我們的生命軌跡中產生某種真實的交 互關係。 在這系列作品的創作過程中，我刻意不去翻閱書本的內容，只從書本的物質性做為我挑選的優先條 件。在重新排列組合書本的關係使其成為一個新的立體造型後，我將一本又一本的書本包裹上黑色或 白色的書衣，並在書衣上面切割出各式各樣的塗畫 (Drawing)，被包覆的書本也因此局部露出本來的 樣貌，開始與書衣的塗畫產生一種對話般共構的美感。 我想呈現的是一種有別於日常中對書的一般認知經驗，這一本本的書從此不再只是書本，它們同時也 是一件件可閱讀的雕塑。

I enjoy going to bookstores. Apart from the knowledge system they carry, the various books on the shelves also carry a pure sense of materiality in terms of the colors of the covers, the sizes of the books, the bindings, as well as the weights of the inner pages. After ingeniously decorated by the designers, the books appear to be also wonderful artworks. Looking at them always brings me great amount of joy and inspirations. I am curious about my relationship with these artists I have never met, and their relationships with the authors of the books. Can these unidentified connections, through my intervention, open up a new possibility or interesting dialogues? In this imagined dimension of connections, maybe one day, I and these strange but familiar others will have a certain tangible interactions in the trajectory of our lives. In the process of creating this series, I intentionally avoided reading the contents of the books, but focused only on their materiality. I rearranged the composition of the books, turned them into new three dimensional objects, and covered the books with black or white book jackets. Finally, I cut out various drawings on the book jackets. By doing this, the original patterns of the covered books can be shown partially, together with the drawings constructing an aesthetic conversation. What I aim at is to present an experience and sensibility that is different from our everyday perception of “books”. Books don’t have to be only books. They can simultaneously be pieces of “readable sculptures”.
