book on a laptop screen and not on paper, putting up signs in their front yard saying to “Vote YES” for the referendum, watching the color purple cover the school, and seeing 50 non-certified staff members let go, growing up and moving on have become actions seniors know well. “Nearing the end of my high school career now, I don’t really remember when changes happened, and they all kind of just became part of day-to-day life,” Rohan Chatterjee, senior, said. “I think that’s the most important thing to take away from it. Changes will happen, and especially into college there will be great changes. However, it just becomes a part of life, and you don’t even realize how you operate changed.” Seniors found ways to create some of their best memories in unexpected situations. Taylor Merkel, senior, remembers how going against the official Twin Day during Homecoming Week to instead have their own Nerd Day united her senior class. “I think when there were rumors of the senior theme days getting prohibited, the seniors were willing to accept the detentions,” Taylor said. “Our class has kind of a ‘Go big or go home’ mentality, so it was fun to see all the effort we put into that week, all the spirit.”
