B e - Club Adviser ginning as Evergreen Doe Society 25 years ago, Homeward Bound is a no-kill facility which shelters cats and dogs. But many don’t know of its existence. “I see people on a weekly basis that have lived in McMinnville all their lives and didn’t know we were here,” said Shelter Manager Sue Holt. “No one is going to support us if they don’t know we exist,” said Homeward Bound Director Dawn Witt. The shelter is promoting its cause by bringing homeless cats to the community.

Every Saturday, some of Homeward Bound’s feline residents will take a trip to Petco, and will be available to visit from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. McMinnville High School staff member Cindy Shultz had started a Homeward Bound club at MHS last year, and it still continues this year, but not many students are involved. “Homeward Bound needs a lot of help,” said Schultz. The club is dedicated to spreading the word about Homeward Bound and fundraising events. It meets every Monday on A-weeks in room 52 at lunch. Even though the expenses for a cat’s medical, food, and shelter fees are more than the adoption fee, McMinnville’s pet shelter has managed to keep itself functioning. “We are working as hard as possible on the shelter for the animals with the limited funds that we have,” said Holt. “But we always need Please see HOMEWARD, Page A2

For seven years, McMinnville High School has had to put up with the bland looking, out-of-date, and frankly ugly design of Microsoft Office 2003. MHS has been upgrading, adding-on and improving many parts of the school, but it seems as if over the years, the last of their worries was up-to-date software. This year Mac High has stepped up to the Buczynski technological plate, and Tech teacher not only updated all the computers to the latest and greatest, Microsoft Office 2010, but many of the computers also received the latest Adobe Creative Suite 5, which is quite an upgrade from the school’s older Creative Suite 3. “The new Microsoft Office is a positive addition to our school because the clip-art is much higher quality than previous years,” said Senior Kurtis Gilliat, as he added effects to a clip-art picture of an elderly man bouncing on a ball. “The layout is pretty cool and interface is different than before, but it gets easier to use.” Please see MICROSOFT, Page A3
