APRIL 2016

Presenting: VITAL News for the workforce and friends of MidHudson Regional Hospital.

MidHudson Regional Hospital Named Dutchess County’s Best Place To Work From the Executive Director Each and every day, MidHudson Regional Hospital is committed to providing high quality health services. Our organizational ideals – Value, Integrity, Transformation & Innovation, Accountability, and Leadership & Learning – VITAL – are paramount to what we do, and reflected in our accepted standards of behavior. Through our words, actions, and attitude, we have the ability to make a tremendous impact. With this in mind, I hope everyone strives to exemplify the concept of RESPECTED: Respect, Excellence, Service, Pride, Empathy, Communication, Teamwork/ accountability, Employee initiative, and Diversity/inclusion/cultural competency. Respect means treating everyone the way they would like to be treated. Excellence is demanding your personal best. Service means striving daily to exceed the expectations of our patients, visitors and co-workers. Take pride in your work. Be empathetic. Communicate effectively, which often means listening intently. Teamwork means acknowledging that we can accomplish more as one unit than as individuals. Take initiative to complete tasks. Be respectful of the tremendous diversity we have here, and help create an inclusive environment. This month, and throughout the year, I hope you’ll join me in embracing our VITAL values, exemplifying our standards of behavior and focusing on having positive energy. We owe it to our patients, and each other, to be at our very best. Sincerely, Paul S. Hochenberg Executive Director

The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce has named MidHudson Regional Hospital the recipient of the 2016 “Best Place To Work” Headliner Award for institutions with more than 50 employees. “I always say that our employees are our greatest resource, so we are extremely honored to receive this award” said Paul Hochenberg, Executive Director of MidHudson Regional Hospital. “The fact that so many staff members saw fit to take their personal time to nominate our hospital speaks volumes about the positive culture we have on campus.” The nomination criteria sought employers that demonstrate how they value their employees through their daily relationships and not by a statement in their employee handbook or benefits outline. The chamber was specifically seeking workplaces that demonstrate trust in their employees and treat them with respect while rewarding them with fair wages. Further emphasis was placed on openly communicating with employees on a regular basis, helping build pride in the workplace, and making the organization an enjoyable place to work.

HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley Becomes the Newest Member of WMCHealth The Westchester Medical Center Health Network and HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley announced an agreement that will enhance and expand healthcare for our entire region. “We couldn’t be happier with the relationship,” said David Scarpino, President and CEO, HealthAlliance. “It ensures that our community will receive the highest-quality healthcare, locally, now and well into the future. The agreement strengthens HealthAlliance’s existing healthcare offerings while providing new and more advanced services to meet a full range of patient needs. (Continued, page 2)
