Balancing acts: how grounds teams are maximising playing surfaces during the summer events season

As the final whistles blow on the football and rugby seasons, many of the UK’s biggest venues don’t switch off, they switch gears.

Off-season events have become a key means of maximising revenue for clubs and venues. But whilst the stage lights grab all the headlines, it’s the grounds teams who are powering the show behind the scenes.

And the challenges? They’re as complex as the stage rigging.

“When I was at Coventry City, we had high-profile concerts most summers,” says Julien Morris, now Senior Regional Pitch Advisor at the Grounds Management Association (GMA). “We hosted the likes of Coldplay, Muse and Oasis. The ground staff would

be there through all the concert build, keeping an absolute hawk eye on equipment and movements – especially when the flooring was laid, which was our biggest headache.”

It’s this kind of pressure that grounds staff across the UK are becoming increasingly familiar with. Concert organisers, thirdparty venue managers and club operations teams all have their role, but it’s the pitch teams who take on the responsibility of recovery, often with only a few weeks to prepare for pre-season fixtures.

“As a groundsperson, you always hoped the off-season events were done by the end of June,” Julien adds. “That would give you six weeks before potential pre-season fixtures. Again, that’s a revenue generator. Clubs are

often keen to get a game or two at home before the season starts.”

And it’s not just football. Whilst stadium concerts are often associated with places like Wembley and Anfield, cricket venues are no strangers to the live event circuit.

“In the Northwest, Lancashire County Cricket Club is one of the biggest concert venues,” says Ian Mather-Brewster, Cricket Key Account Manager at the GMA. “They have at least one concert or set of concerts every year - right in the middle of the cricket season.”

He points to the 2017 One Love Manchester concert, attended by some 55,000 people, as a clear example of the pressures grounds teams face. “That was a challenge for the ground staff because

the venue’s concert period had finished but was then extended by around seven days. They had a test match just a few weeks later, televised live on Sky. The ground staff worked extremely hard to get the ground ready.”

For many venues, particularly those juggling sport and entertainment, surface choice plays a pivotal role. “The true multi-event venues will have systems that allow for rapid transitions,” says Tom Rowley, Football Key Account Manager at the GMA and former groundsperson at Leicester City FC.

“We’ve seen more ‘lay and play’ hybrid carpet systems recently. These types of systems are a great option for stadia that require a quick turnaround between events and sporting fixtures as they can be managed to the nth degree for a finite amount of time, then taken out and replaced. Wembley, Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid, these kinds of systems are crucial for venues with packed summer schedules. Stade de France famously had a concert just 7 days before the Champions League final back in 2022.”

The average in-stadia pitch renovation window is six to eight weeks growth from seed.

By installing a hybrid carpet system, clubs can reduce this to three to four weeks, providing a bigger window of opportunity for close-season activity, including concerts, major events, play-on-pitch opportunities and pre-season friendlies.

Unlike other sports turf, a hybrid carpet is grown offsite on specially prepared turf nursery field plots designed to provide the best possible growing conditions, including improved air flow and natural sunlight. From establishment to harvesting, some clubs like Liverpool FC and Manchester City have had their ground teams tending to the pitch off-site.

The beauty of a hybrid carpet system is it can be laid relatively quickly, approximately 2-4 days, allowing clubs the largest possible window for commercial activity on the pitch. Within days of installation, the idea is roots will start to develop through the backing of the carpet and turf to form a reinforced natural playing surface. One of the positive things about a system like this is it gives grounds staff the ability to evaluate the playing surface each year and make any adjustments after the close-season period to ensure the

best possible playing surface.

Tom also notes that working with external contractors for this type of surface is key and, again, often unnoticed. “The ground staff work really closely with companies who are farming that surface. It has to be seamless, quite literally.”

Whilst the technology has evolved, the core challenges remain the same. Heavy rigging, unpredictable weather, tight turnarounds and lastminute changes test even the most experienced grounds teams. But as Julien points out, the work begins long before the first note is played.

“From the head groundsperson’s perspective, they would hope to be involved in most of the operational planning. A lot of these concerts are meticulously planned at least 12 months in advance, if not more. Yes, it’s demanding. Yes, you have to make sacrifices, but I’ve been very privileged to see some amazing acts up close and personal – you create memories that last a lifetime.”

Whether it’s a chart-topper at Wembley or a cricket classic in Manchester, one thing’s for sure: behind every flawless playing surface is a grounds team working tirelessly to make it happen. Centre stage, but often behind the scenes.

Etesia Hydro 80 Transforms Productivity for Garden Maintenance Business

James Duke Garden Maintenance, based in Whitstable, Kent, has experienced a significant boost in productivity after investing in an Etesia Hydro 80 ride-on mower.

James explains that the decision to upgrade came from a growing need to handle larger sites more efficiently.

“Some of the grounds we look after can be quite large in size,” says James. “We also care for small residential gardens and commercial sites. Beforehand, we were using pedestrian mowers on the bigger areas, and it was hard work — it took a long time. So, we started looking for a ride-on.”

After exploring various brands, it was Etesia’s Hydro 80 that stood out — particularly following a demonstration arranged after meeting the team at GroundsFest last year.

“We were highly impressed with what they had to

site, and we were blown away. We tried the Hydro 80 and as soon as we did, we ordered one.”

Since making the switch, the difference has been remarkable.

“Compared to using pedestrian mowers, the Hydro 80 is just so much quicker,” he says. “It’s freeing up so much more time for us — we’re finishing jobs earlier or fitting more in. I’d say we’re getting the jobs done in about half the time, which is fantastic.”

The Etesia Hydro 80 is packed with features that make it ideal for both large areas and tricky, confined spaces. With an 80cm cutting width and a tight turning circle, it’s easily manoeuvrable and can pass through small gateways or between parked cars with ease.

“The size is incredible — we can get it through tight spaces, around buildings, and even in between cars,” James explains. “And because it’s so compact, it fits straight into the back of our van at the end of the day.”

The Hydro 80 is powered by a 15hp twin-cylinder Kawasaki engine, delivering reliable performance across varying conditions. Its hydrostatic drive makes operation smooth and user-friendly, and James and his team noticed the ease of use immediately.

“From the get-go, we found the mower so easy to use. The controls are simple, and the machine feels great to operate — it’s a joy, an absolute pleasure.”

One of the key benefits of the Hydro 80 is its ability to cut and collect both long and short grass without clogging, even in wet conditions — a huge improvement for James and his team, who previously battled with constant blockages.

“The collection is fantastic — especially in the wet,” he says. “With our old pedestrian mowers, they were always clogging up and we had to stop

The Hydro 80’s 240-litre grassbox can be emptied from the driving seat and features a buzzer to indicate when it’s full.

“The grass box is huge — we can just keep going and going,” says James. “With the pedestrian mowers, we were stopping every five minutes. Now we can mow huge areas before we need to empty. And when we do, it’s so easy — just lift the handle and tip the grass out from the comfort of the seat.”

The versatility of the Hydro 80 has also impressed James.

“It collects, it mulches, it side discharges — it ticks all the boxes for what we need. We’ve used the mulch plug and it leaves a great finish. It just does everything we ask of it. We haven’t found a single issue with it. It’s solid, dependable, and just brilliant to use.”

Reflecting on the buying process, James also praised the support and communication from the Etesia team.

“They were absolutely brilliant to work with from the start. They talked us through everything, gave us the chance to try out the mowers, and let us see how good they really are.”

Asked whether he would recommend the Hydro 80 to others, James doesn’t hesitate:

“Absolutely. If you’re in the market for a ride-on that can collect, mulch, or side discharge — this mower ticks all the boxes. It’s small, nimble, and a total game changer for our business.”

Wiedenmann Terra Rake makes half term debut for Pitch Prep NW

ather and son Mark and Ellis Bolton from Chorley, Lancashire, launched Pitch Prep NW two years ago when Ellis turned 17 and passed his driving test.

Formalising their partnership made sense. Mark, a respected volunteer groundsman and head coach, for over a decade with Brinscall Valley Juniors FC was constantly offered work elsewhere. Ellis, who had been attending Myerscough College, was ready for his career to launch.

“Our principal hurdle was distance between jobs, the necessary logistics and the associate insurance,” said Mark. “They certainly don’t make it easy at 17 in your first year. We were over £12,500 for an all-driver policy to include tractors, van and trailer. But you move forward, and you learn constantly.

“Deep aeration, line marking, cutting and collecting are our main tasks. We’ve had our Wiedenmann Terra Spike for seven years and that was the breakthrough that really set us on our way.

“Over the years we have good support from Football Foundation pitch improvement grants. We’ve always tried to buy the right machinery at the best price. It’s a balancing act; machines must pay their way.”

Mark and Ellis recently purchased a second hand Wiedenmann 2.3 m Terra Rake, and a set of Maredo MT200 Flex-Verticutters.

“Half term with no one around was ideal to be out with the Terra Rake first time. Many of our schools are bothered by thatch, weeds and debris in the top layer. Ellis trailed the rake at speed, the faster he went the more dead grasses and rubbish came out. it was incredibly

satisfying; the volume he extracted was remarkable. I followed behind with a cut and collect mower, then next day we put down 140 tonnes of sand across the five pitches. These will be much cleaner and healthier as a result.”

“The Maredos will be with us shortly. We’d eyed them for a while. The three FlexVerticutter heads mount on an A-frame and can be used for verticutting or scarifying. The reverse rotating blades and heavy-duty chain drive, create tiny even slits to assist with breaking up thatch. These two new machines can work in tandem.

“We’re active for the best part of the year but some additional winter work to plug a few gaps around the wettest months is on our list.”

Fortifying Turf for Autumn: Melgreen’s Role in Post-Season Recovery

As the playing season winds down, turf managers shift focus toward recovery, renovation, and building resilience against seasonal pathogens such as Dollar Spot and Microdochium. At the heart of these Integrated Turf Management (ITM) strategies lies our Melgreen product range—a powerful toolkit designed to support turf health during this critical transition.

Melgreen products are designed to work in four key areas: encouraging root development, preparing turf for high traffic, supporting turf protection strategies, and strengthening growth in low-light conditions. What sets Melgreen apart is its use of Red seaweed—a potent source of proteins and sugars—offering superior plant support compared to traditional brown seaweed formulations.

Melgreen Sprinter is a targeted blend of Red seaweed and manganese, ideal for managing Take-All patch. Regular applications throughout the growing season enhance the turf’s resilience against this destructive disease.

Melgreen Elite combines Red seaweed with monomeric silica to reinforce cell walls, improving drought resistance and helping turf stand up to fungal pathogens. Used alongside Sprinter, Elite forms a synergistic defence against seasonal stress.

Pairing Elite with Melgreen Endurance has shown particular promise in combating Dollar Spot. Applications beginning in May build lasting resistance through the peak pressure period.

Melgreen Endurance features Red seaweed and micronised copper— renowned for its natural fungicidal properties. This formulation enhances disease resistance, boosts stress tolerance, and strengthens the leaf surface. Midsummer to autumn applications are especially effective.

Complementary to our Melgreen suite is Matrix, a micro granular soil improver with a 0.7–2mm prill size, making it ideal for integration into or post-top dressing. With 14% seaweed content per 30g/ m² application—far surpassing standard liquid seaweed—Matrix improves soil CEC and microbial activity. Its zeolite content further helps maintain ideal moisture balance, absorbing excess water during wet spells and retaining moisture in dry conditions.

Together, the Melgreen range & Matrix Soil improver offers a robust, proven approach to postseason turf recovery, preparing your surfaces for the months ahead and ensuring they return

stronger for the seasons to come.

The Melgreen, Matrix, and the Full Range of Olmix Products are exclusively available at Collier Turf Care Ltd.

A Mark of Success How Groundtel line marking capabilities service 150 schools

roundtel Ltd is a familyrun business with a proud reputation for precision, reliability and service. With over 150 schools on its books, the company has become one of the region’s leading grounds maintenance providers.

At the heart of operations is Danny Perkins, Contracts Manager and member of the founding family, who’s helped steer the business into the next generation of efficiency with the help of robotic line marking machines.

“We were already delivering a high standard,” says Danny, “but the TinyLineMarker robots have taken us to a different level. They’ve paid for themselves ten times over.”

Each season, Groundtel’s team prepares

a wide range of sports markings across school playing fields. For summer months, this includes 100m, 200m, 300m, and 400m running tracks, complete with relay boxes, rounders and softball pitches, and throwing areas for javelin, discus, and shot putt. In winter, the focus shifts to football pitches, rugby pitches, and training grids, all initially marked and then overmarked throughout the season as required.

The 20-strong grounds team has a significant workload and has a twoperson team dedicated solely to line marking. Historically, that meant traditional pedestrian machines, such as push-along markers, a Fast Liner, and plenty of manual setup.

“That’s a lot of tape measures and string lines,” Danny comments. “It was time-consuming and hard to keep

up when schools need everything done quickly and precisely. Once we brought in the TinyLineMarker robot, everything changed.”

Groundtel took delivery of their first TinyLineMarker Pro X in 2021, followed by a second robot 12–18 months later. Both are now integral to operations, running daily from late February to July.

“With the robots and some long hours, we have been known to overmark over 100 schools in 7 to 10 days. Before, it would take about four weeks. However, on average, we run the robots for six to eight hours daily.”

Initial marking has seen the most significant impact, with the robots removing the need for traditional set-out methods. “It’s incredibly accurate,” says

Danny. “You just load the template on the tablet, and it remembers exactly where to mark, even if the lines have disappeared after cutting. Schools appreciate that kind of consistency.”

The robots’ size and weight were a major consideration. “I looked at Turf Tank, but it was too heavy. I couldn’t lift it in and out of the van alone. The Tiny robot is light, compact, and fits easily in the back of a small van, which makes life a lot easier.”

Rough and uneven ground is a common challenge across school fields, particularly in the state sector. “That’s another reason the TinyLineMarker works so well for us. It’s robust and can handle bumpy surfaces where other machines might struggle.”

Groundtel uses IMPACT® Pro paint from Origin Amenity Solutions for both their robotic and two iGO Premier Pedestrian markers. Danny says, “It’s a perfect match.”

“The robot’s set to moderate speed, and the lines are bright, crisp, and clean. And because the paint’s ready-mixed, there’s no faffing

around with water. It saves time and hassle, and we get a consistent finish across every pitch.”

In addition to time and paint efficiency, the robots have helped Groundtel reduce labour demand and improve safety and sustainability, which are key concerns for schools.

“The schools prefer the robots,” Danny says. “They’re small, quiet, and there are no fuel emissions. This ticks a lot of environmental boxes. From a health and safety point of view, especially during the school day, it’s a win.”

Behind the technology is a strong support system, which is something Danny values. “The training was excellent, and the support from Origin Amenity Solutions is brilliant. It’s one thing to buy a product, but having ongoing help makes a huge difference. I can ring Simon or Joe and get an answer immediately without waiting for a call-out, although that’s also available. A

quick answer on the phone saves me so much wasted time.”

Origin Amenity Solutions is the sole UK distributor of TinyMobileRobots and one of the leading providers of GPS line marking. The company offers one of the most comprehensive line marking ranges in the UK and Ireland, including pedestrian and ride-on machines, ready-to-use paints, and advanced robotic technology. All paints and machines are manufactured within the Origin group, ensuring consistent, high-quality performance backed by nationwide support and product expertise.

For Danny and the team at Groundtel, the move to robotic line marking has exceeded every expectation. “We’ve saved time, reduced labour, improved accuracy and consistency. I wouldn’t go back. The robots are a vital part of how we operate now, and they’ve transformed the service we can offer our schools.”

NemaGen® – Natural Turf Protection That Delivers Results

As turf professionals look to reduce chemical pesticide use, Bionema’s NemaGen® offers a reliable, ecofriendly solution for controlling soil-dwelling pests without compromising performance or safety.

Developed by UK-based biocontrol specialists Bionema Group, NemaGen® is a nematode-based biological control that targets common turf pests, including chafer grubs and leatherjackets. These pests are a growing problem across golf courses, racecourses, and public green spaces. They can cause significant damage to root systems, leading to costly repairs, turf thinning, and poor playability.

Easy to apply using standard spray equipment, NemaGen® introduces beneficial microscopic nematodes that actively seek out and infect pest larvae in the soil. The treatment is 100% natural, safe for people, pets, and pollinators, and can be used as part of an integrated turf management programme. “We’ve seen excellent results with NemaGen®,” says a turf manager at The Grove. “Pest pressure dropped 60% in years 1, 75% in years 2, and >90% in years 3, and recovery was fast and visible.”

Combined with Bionema’s patented Soil-Jet® biosurfactant, nematode penetration improves by up to 30%, ensuring deeper movement through the thatch and more consistent results—even in challenging soil conditions. NemaGen® is already in use at Mesteg Golf Club and Neath Golf Course, where it has helped turf teams reduce pest damage and restore healthy swards without relying on banned chemicals.

Bionema, a recipient of the King’s Award for Innovation 2024, is leading the shift toward sustainable pest control across the UK. The company offers technical support, agronomic advice, and seasonal pest monitoring to help users get the most from every application. With rising restrictions on chemical insecticides and a growing demand for environmentally responsible turf care, NemaGen is the ideal biological alternative—proven, practical, and performance-driven.

NemaGen® and Soil-Jet® are available exclusively from Bionema in the UK. For product demonstrations or technical support, call 01792 606916 or visit www.bionema.com

GKB Sandspreader proves tough to beat for Royal West Norfolk

hat’s top of the priority list when it comes to purchasing a topdresser? For Gavin Playford of Royal West Norfolk Golf Club it’s build quality, which is why he opted for an SP100 from the GKB Sandspreader range. So impressed when he first saw the machine on display at The Doe Show 2025, Gavin placed the order there and then - without even having a demonstration!

Nestled between the beach and salt marshes, the traditional links course at Royal West Norfolk has been under the stewardship of Gavin for the last 39 years. Currently assisted by a team of six, Gavin outlines that the club opt for a ‘little and often’ approach to topdressing. “Depending on conditions and

available resources, we try to dress the greens every two to four weeks which not only benefits plant health but helps to keep the golfers on side compared to less frequent, heavier applications.”

“Over the years we’ve used a various makes and models of dresser but were struck by the build quality of the GKB machine as soon as we saw it at The Doe Show back in February. We had the opportunity to have a really good chat with GKB’s Tom Shinkins and discussed opting for the electronic controls to enhance consistency and make setting the distribution rates much easier. Nothing was too much trouble, and just a few weeks later the SP100 was delivered by Eddie Jack of Ernest Doe, just in time for renovation season.”

The GKB Sandspreader range features four different hopper capacities and trailed or mounted models for ultimate versatility on every surface. With an existing John Deere ProGator in the shed, Gavin opted for the mounted SP100 with its 1.0m3 hopper and up to 10m working width.

“The hopper is slightly bigger than our previous topdresser which has given us some noticeable productivity gains and the electronic controls have definitely made adjusting the rates much easier.” He adds, “Along with topdressing greens, we’ve also used the SP100 to apply compost to the fairways which worked very well! Overall, the team have been very impressed.”

It’s Johnsons Sports Seed to the rescue at Reddish Vale Golf Club

As one extensive improvement project comes to an end, another unexpectedly begins at Stockport’s Reddish Vale Golf Club – and once again, Johnsons Sports Seed is playing a key role in recovery and renovation. For the past few seasons, J Premier Tee has been transforming tees and aprons, bringing big benefits to play and praise for Head Greenkeeper Aaron Watkinson and his team. However, widespread flooding over the New Year period means a major

recovery programme is now underway on the fairways – with the tried and tested Johnsons J Fairway ready to come to the rescue!

“I’ve worked with Johnson’s mixtures for many years and know it’s a range I can rely on” comments Aaron. “We set about some longoverdue improvements on the tees and aprons by firstly removing some of the tree coverage and identifying the key characteristics we were going to need from our choice of seed– these

were wear tolerance, quick recovery, strong colour and an ability to withstand drought stress due to our aging irrigation system.”

Ticking all of the boxes has been a combination of J Premier Tee and J Fairway from the Johnsons Sports Seed range. Featuring 4turf® tetraploid ryegrass, J Premier Tee is ideal for rapid establishment on high-wear areas and sustainable shade tolerant tees. “We previously had some tees which were virtually unplayable come

the end of September, but thanks to overseeding the last few years we now have a strong sward, delivering quality all year round. The members have undoubtedly noticed the improvements.”

For certain tees, Aaron also incorporated additional strength and drought tolerance with the 100% fescue blend of Johnsons J Fairway. It’s proven performance on the tees and aprons is now set to be extended as the team embark on a large-scale flood-recovery project. “We came back in January 2025 to find five of our holes under six to eight foot of floodwater from the River Tame. Once it receded, we were left with hundreds of tonnes of silt and sewerage

contamination – all removed by the three of us, by hand!”

Alongside their hard work, it’s been the resilience and performance of Johnsons J Fairway that has underpinned their recovery. “Thanks to the incredible team effort some areas have already bounced back incredibly well, and those that need a bit of a helping hand will get an overseed with J Fairway which will help to complete the restoration in the coming weeks.”

The new J Fairway mix has been carefully selected to help restore Reddish Vale’s traditional heathland character and deliver costeffective, intelligent turf management. “The blend

combines high-quality chewings and slender creeping red fescues for density, visual merit, salt tolerance and drought resilience, alongside two strong creeping red fescues chosen for shoot density and disease resistance. A final 5% of browntop bentgrass gives this mixture a real edge in terms of longevity and visual quality,” adds Stuart Yarwood of DLF Seeds, who advised Aaron during the post-flood planning.

Aaron concludes, “We’re keeping positive and using this recovery as an opportunity to replicate the high standards we’ve delivered with Johnsons on the tees across our flood-hit fairways. We’ll get there!”

Prepare to prevent dollar spot attacks

ollar spot disease pressure is now increasing, as temperature and humidity rise resulting in prolonged periods of leaf wetness, warns Syngenta Technical Manager, Sean Loakes.

Speaking to course managers with ICL at the prestigious 72-hole championship Melbourne Club, on the Brocket Hall Estate in Hertfordshire this week (3 June 2025), he highlighted that although overall dollar spot pressure has been relatively low so far this season with the dry spring, early symptoms are beginning to be seen in disease hot spots.

“Turf management actions now, with cultural controls and Ascernity fungicide treatments, can reduce the risk and prevent damaging loss of grass cover or surface quality,” he advised.

Sean highlighted the danger of dollar spot is becoming more severe, since the pathogen appears to be developing at lower temperatures and with shorter periods of leaf wetness.

“Researchers who designed the original forecasting model now report the evolving pathogen appears to be developing with shorter periods of suitable leaf wetness and temperature,” he said.

The effect would be a double whammy of more frequent conditions for the disease occurring, and the capability for the disease to go through its lifecycle faster.

“For courses in high pressure situations that find they have been consistently hit earlier by dollar spot, it may be necessary to target treatments at a lower pressure threshold, for example,” he advocated.

“Tracking the Smith Kerns model on Turf Advisor gives advance warning of pressure periods,” he said. “But be aware of localised risks on your course, as irrigation and microclimates will increase periods of leaf wetness that pushes up pressure - and can leave turf open to attack.”

Preventative Ascernity fungicide applications can crucially protect turf through high-risk periods. Available as part of the AIM pack, it could cost-effectively cover the whole season strategy.

Golf course trials in Cambridgeshire last season proved how the Syngenta fungicide programme, including Ascernity followed by Instrata Elite, effectively halved any signs of disease damage on the surfaceresulting in less than 4% infection in the treated area, compared to over 16% in untreated at the end of the reported assessments.

“Used in an Integrated Turf Management programme, along with the biostimulant boost of a Turf Health Plan, it puts you in the best place to stop dollar spot damage occurring,” he added.

The UK’s first 100% circular artificial play surface installation completes on the Scottish Borders

evitalising Community Spaces with a Sustainable Vision

A public play area and open space makes a monumental difference to a community, and in more ways than just play and access to the Great Outdoors. In the UK and particularly Scotland, the weather is both a challenge and a deciding factor when choosing landscape materials, surfaces and substrates. The decision to install ONE-DNA™ Play 100% circular artificial grass from LazyLawn at Innerleithen Park marks a national first, aligning perfectly with the Scottish Border Council’s eco-conscious goals. The environment, drainage,

functionality and visual appeal were important considerations for the councillors in the Borders town of Innerleithen as they discussed the options for the long-awaited revamp of their playground, equipment and its combination with the surrounding landscape.

Designing for Drainage and Durability with Environmental Integrity

The large expanse in question, 1300 square metres in total, spanned beneath existing and newly installed play equipment, including a timber basket swing, multi-play unit with slide, and a trim trail featuring obstacles

like balance beams, climbing frames and stepping logs. A barrage of wet conditions and long-term drainage problems had contributed considerably to the deterioration of the play surface over a number of years.

The drainage had been a problem for a number of years. Whilst original plans to overcome this had focused on wetpour, the Council Grounds team reached out to local sports surface and artificial grass specialist Gavin Brown at LazyLawn Scotland to discuss alternatives. An artificial grass play surface has benefits in both drainage and visual greenery – but sustainability? Enter: ONE-DNA™ Play.

ONE-DNA™ PLAY 24: The Credentials

Designed for playgrounds and multi-sport venues with a pile height of 24mm, the ONEDNA™ Play 24 comprises:

• 100% PE straight yarn fibres;

• Fixation fibres with patented ONE-DNA™ technology

• 100% PE backing, UV stabilised

• EPD Verified as 100% circular

• 15 year life cycle (30 years for the Shockwave panels)

• Full Take-Back Program for end-of-life

• A Groundbreaking Choice: The UK’s First 100% Circular Play

Surface

Gavin and his LazyLawn and Sportsmaster team have been working with a new product – the first of its kind in the UK and a game-changer in terms of 100% circularity. ONE-DNA™ Play matched the Council’s sustainability goals, with its single polymer makeup ensuring that it can be fully recycled into other landscaping and premium products at end of life.

As well as its sustainable credentials, the ONE-DNA™ Play would be a more versatile, softer and more visually pleasing surface than the original wetpour option – and better for Council’s budgets, too.  LazyLawn are pioneers of 100%

circular ONE-DNA™ Play, and the Council agreed to join them as pioneers with this the first installation of its kind in the UK.

Overcoming Weather and Installation Challenges: The Project

Gavin explains how the installation unfolds; how the project started, developed and delivered on its promises of recyclability, functionality, versatility, texture and softness… and looks great whatever the weather:

“Introducing ONE-DNA™ into the discussions meant we opened up a whole new realm of play surfaces – and removed the barrier of recyclability. We’ve been eager to demonstrate the 24mm ONEDNA™ Play in action, and with the installation of its shockwave pad from Nottsport, it would be the first fully recyclable artificial grass system from blade to beneath. We knew we had to work around the existing and new play equipment, which brought its own challenges with fitting, edging and jointing. The area was stripped of topsoil, backfilled with a Type 1 aggregate layer and blended with grano dust.  Where the critical fall height was over 2.5 metres, we fitted a double layer of Shockwave panel tiles; all others sufficed a 45mm single layer. The installation of a

play-safe fence was secured and all edges of the surface were fixed with 190 linear metres of VertEdge edging, preventing trip hazards and finishing the area cleanly.

We’re accustomed to local weather conditions, but during the installation which was scheduled for completion within 23 days, the temperatures were wildly fluctuating, with regular downpours hampering or completely preventing progress. There was even a day that started -2 degrees and finished at +18! Completing 10 weeks after we arrived on site, it was a real labour of love but one that we were more than excited to deliver, particularly with it heralding the first installation of its kind.”

A Blueprint for Sustainable Playgrounds across Scotland and the UK

After completion, the Councillors visited to inspect and approve the new play surface and area.  They were absolutely delighted with the results, commending its softer, greener look, blending in with the natural surrounding backdrop of the park itself.  They also noted that the open areas beyond the play equipment were also now being used by groups of children and youths, where it had previously been unattractive, unused space.

Carol Cooke, Parks & Environment Manager at Scottish Borders Council is understandably pleased with the results and said: “We have had a very positive experience working with Gavin and the team on the Innerleithen project; they were very amenable and easy to work with. Gavin explained the design and installation process in easily understood terms and any minor issues during construction were resolved quickly. We are really pleased with the end results, and community feedback has been positive. Scottish Borders Council are delighted to be the first local authority to use the product in a play environment. As well as providing looking great, the fully recyclable surface with 100% circularity of the system provides a sustainable choice and aligns closely with our corporate sustainability goals.”

From day one the general public has had high praise for the installation. Children raced to use it as soon as access was permitted, and many older visitors, dog walkers and those just passing mentioned that the area had “never been so busy in all their years”.  It is a real testament to how the space is now being enjoyed to its fullest

potential, and that beyond its life, it can be used and reused in the landscape with a muchreduced environmental impact.

Gavin reflects on new product, its installation and future prospects: “It was a challenging project, working with a new product in volatile, ever-changing temperatures and conditions. But as the project really took shape, our installation team gained confidence and mastery into how best to work with it, and it really impressed us. We’re very confident with its workability, feel, look and circularity potential - it is a very important, game-changing product that will bring about a welcomed revolution for the industry.”

Council Commitment to Greener Futures

Funded as part of Scottish Borders Council’s Capital Programme for Play Areas and Community Outdoor Spaces and supported by Scottish Government funding, the

play facility upgrades form part of a £5 million investment to enhance the options and accessibility of play opportunities for current and future communities. One of the most important groups to benefit within the community is the schoolchildren of neighbouring St Ronan’s Primary School, and they gathered in numbers along with local Councillors and stakeholders at the play area’s grand re-opening on Friday 25th April 2025.

One Material, Infinite Possibilities – The Power of ONE-DNA™

With the Innerleithen Play Area as an exemplar of the new product and system, Gavin will use this as a showcase for future projects, both at the Council and across Scotland.  A second installation is already planned at a school within the region, and discussions are underway for another five sites. lower bulbs are one of natures wonders, they are versatile, easy to grow, extremely popular, good for the environment and are a cost-effective way of adding interest to otherwise under used spaces.

The key is to select the right flower bulbs for the right place and project you have in mind.

Wildflower bulbs are perfect for creating safe havens for pollenating bees, butterflies, moths, and other endangered insects, whether regenerating areas in towns and villages, in woodland settings or small areas set aside for a preservation site, native varieties such as Anemone nemerosa (Wood Anemone), Allium urinum (Wild Garlic), Galanthus nivalis (Single snowdrop) and Hyacinthoides non scripta (English Bluebell) and Narcissus psuedonarcissus thrive in these environments.

While Naturalising Flower bulbs are the simple way to create drifts of intense colour for grassland areas, town and village approaches, roundabouts, verges, golf course and woodland walkways, the sight of daffodils swaying in the breeze is a sight to behold with many councils, landscapers and trusts opting to plant flower bulbs to attract visitors, generate land into areas of interest and for the well being of residents. The benefit of planting daffodils is that they can naturalise freely and will continue to flower for up to 30 years.

When considering planting flower bulbs in grass land or lawns you should plan carefully around any grass cutting programmes you have in place, select varieties that flower in the late winter and early spring periods, this will allow

time for the foliage to die back after flowering before cutting starts, this is essential to develop the bulbs for future seasons to come. Crocus, snowdrops, and Wild daffodils are perfect for these situations.

For areas of general interest for impact planting in spring beds, perennial borders, around shrubs, parks, and open spaces the options are wide and varied most flower bulbs will perform in these areas, alliums, hyacinths, narcissus, and tulips are ideal for creating vibrant displays, and companion planting in beds or under planting in containers will extend the period of interest from late winter into early summer.

Tools That Go The Course

Elegant, well-managed golf courses help play a crucial role in attracting and retaining players – adding value to play and directly contributing to the bottom line of golf clubs.

Planted areas provide balance to manicured greens, creating character and visual appeal for players, spectators, and local communities. But good stewardship of these areas plays a much larger role in promoting high quality play.

Overgrown and unmaintained trees and shrubs negatively impact play by creating shade. This reduces the quality and colour of greens and increases the risk of moss growth and disease. Trees that overhang the course block sightlines for players and limit options for a shot.

Wind-blown debris can interrupt the direction of a rolling golf ball, slowing play, frustrating players and leaving them with negative perceptions of the course. Given these serious risks to the marketability and playability of your course, trees and shrubs are left alone at your peril!

Maintenance equipment should support efficient working with the freedom for grounds staff to work across greater distances. In wide-open spaces, traditional electric tools with cables limit the movement of groundskeepers, and petrol-powered alternatives risk noise, vibration and harmful emissions.

Milwaukee’s M18 cordless system delivers professional grade power with excellent

performance and ergonomics meaning grounds staff can work more effectively at greater distances, tackling larger tasks uninterrupted.

Importantly, Milwaukee’s REDLITHIUM™ batteries provide up to 40% more runtime, 20% more power and 50% more recharges than conventional lithium-Ion batteries – providing the reassurance that tools are fit-for-purpose and work can be completed without fear of battery failure.

Agrigem stocks the full range of Milwaukee’s interchangeable M18 outdoor power tools for grounds keepers - including top-of-the-range chain saws, pruning saws, trimmers, blowers, and the Outdoor Power Head Quick Lok System.

The TDA range is in stock and comes with a two-year, unlimited hours warranty, with complete peace of mind delivered by the nationwide support of Baroness’ UK dealer network. For more information, visit www.baronessuk.com

Flood relief at Caersws Football Club

Caersws Football Club, founded in the late 19th century, adopted its present name in 1974 when it relinquished its amateur status. The club’s first successes came in the nineteen sixties, winning the Mid-Wales League and the Welsh Amateur Cup. In 1992 they became founder members of the League of Wales and subsequently won the League Cup twice. The team plays at the Recreation Ground, Caersws,

which accommodates up to 4000 spectators.

Situated close to the River Severn, the ground floods regularly when the river bursts its banks in winter months. But once the flood water subsided, the pitch would not be playable for up to 2 weeks due standing water on the pitch not draining away. This resulted in the club having to move matches to another club’s ground, which

had a 3G pitch, to meet the demands of the league schedule. In the 2023/24 season, they managed only one game across three winter months (Nov-Jan). Playing elsewhere also meant supporters would not travel to games, so the issues mounted. Investigations into the causes revealed the pitch to be sitting on 0.7 metres depth of clay and constant rolling over the years had compacted the surface even further. Normal aeration

would have no impact on the problem.

Caersws Club chair, Neil Lewis, had heard of the work by Terrain Aeration at other pitches and called them in to see if they could resolve the issue. Terrain has a unique system used for over thirty years with their Terralift machines. The Terralift features a JCB road hammer and probe, which reaches a depth of one metre where it releases a blast of compressed air. This fractures the soil, creating fissures to allow drainage, and as the probe is withdrawn, dried seaweed is injected. This

has the effect of expanding and contracting with moisture and, in simple terms, keeps the holes open. The process is repeated on a grid system, usually at two-metre intervals, to interlink the fracturing. The probe holes are backfilled with an aggregate and the surface is almost immediately playable.

“This season we had only one first team and a second team game postponed,” says Neil Lewis. “We had the Ground Management Association come and take a core sample. They found even though the topsoil was wet, the soil

at depth was dry. We have also had the pitch scarified to remove thatch, so next season will see it drain even better. The difference since Terrain Aeration did their work is incredible and we will promote them to other club and associations looking for a drainage solution. It saved money, there was no digging and being non-invasive, we were able to play a pre-season friendly the same night as the work was done. Why would you not do it?”

Keep compaction free with GKB!

ith the Deep Tine Aerator (DTA) from GKB Machines, the name speaks for itself. The DTA delivers intensive aeration, with a range of working widths and depths to suit the requirements of surfaces across the sporting spectrum.

Keeping surfaces clear of compaction is pivotal for maintaining percolation rates and oxygen flow to the plant and rooting system. When ground and climatic conditions allow, aeration should take place to give your turf the boost it needs to emerge healthy and strong this spring.

Precision engineered and built for durability and strength, the GKB DTA is available in four working widths from 1.2m to 2.6m, with larger models in the range offering impressive compaction relief down to depths of up to 400mm (16”). The depth of the larger DTA 210 and DTA 260 models is easily set via simple hydraulic height adjustment, while the heave angle of up to 25 degrees is also quick and simple to change.

The unique tine mounting system, exclusive to GKB, allows for more tines per head optimising the efficiency of the operation, whilst also reducing downtime and potential wear imposed on parts when changing between sets. Solid and hollow tines are available in a range of different diameters to suit applications throughout the maintenance calendar.

At the smaller end of the scale, the DTA 120 and DTA 160 offer a working depth of 250mm (10”) and a 1.2m and 1.6m working width respectively, making them ideal for smaller jobs on sensitive areas such as golf greens. At Toft Golf Club in Lincolnshire, Course Manager Tim Hales explains that their DTA 160 has become one of the most frequently used machines in their shed. “When I joined the club we had some areas that hadn’t been aerated as much as they could have been so the DTA has been working hard on some incredibly compacted fairways and tees to improve these areas and help them cope better with periods of heavy

rainfall. The DTA is well built and smooth to operate - compared to some other models it cuts through compaction like a sewing machine!”

Equally robust, and even more versatile, are the larger 2.1m and 2.6m models – making them ideal for the contractor market. Fineturf, one of the country’s leading and longest established contractors currently run two GKB DTA 260’s on their fleet. “These machines give us great flexibility to work year-round on a variety of sports turf surfaces” says Managing Director Simon Hutton. “With the large working width they’re ideal for annual work on racecourses, training grounds and end of season football renovations in the spring and summer and autumn/ winter work on golf fairways.”

EcoBunker Reports Australasian Growth with Turfcare Australia

Bunker experts EcoBunker, in partnership with Turfcare Australia, has secured a 55 bunker installation at Pennant Hills Golf Club, near Sydney. Each bunker features Ecobunker synthetic bunker edging that reduces the course maintenance burden while ensuring strength, stability, and long-term performance.

“After extensive research and evaluation, Pennant Hills Golf Club selected EcoBunker and Klingstone 400 as the superior solutions for their bunker walls and floors,” commented Shane Summerhayes, General Manager at Turfcare Australia. “These high-performance products are now being used to construct 48 brand new bunkers as part of the course redesign.”

The project started on the 19th hole, and after receiving positive feedback from the club, the team has moved on to the 17th and 18th green complexes.

“Turfcare Australia has done a superb job with the first phase installation and the results are stunning,” added Richard Allen, CEO of EcoBunker and inventor of synthetic bunker technology. “We’re delighted to be working with the team to demonstrate how EcoBunker technology can address issues around structural integrity, sand contamination and ongoing maintenance in tough environmental conditions. We’ve completed some fantastic work in Australia already and look forward to helping more clubs through our partnership with the team at Turfcare.”

Previous projects in Australia have included stunning revetted faces at The Links at Kennedy Bay with Graham Marsh, and at Killara Golf Club, where course architect and President of the Australian Association of Golf Course Architects, Harley Kruse used EcoBunker technology to present the bunkers in the style fitting to his design.

Harley commented, “‘The EcoBunker system allowed us to create a beautiful flowing bunker style, modelled on the Melbourne Sand Belt that would not have been

possible using natural indigenous turf. The project at Killara has been a major success with both course maintenance staff and all golfers who are lucky enough to play there.”

With the next phase at Pennant Hills under way, and more projects planned for the coming months, EcoBunker synthetic bunker technology is set to become a regular sight across Australian courses in the coming year. Landmand ready for its third season Acclaimed course ‘in best condition ever’, says GM

OMER, NEBRASKA,–

HThe much-acclaimed Landmand course in eastern Nebraska is about to open for its third full season, and the course is in the best shape it has ever been, according to general manager Adam Fletcher.

“This is really the first season we have had where the turf is fully established going into the summer,” says Fletcher. “I’m really excited for the golf season ahead – those who are playing here are going to see the course at its best ever.”

Owner and developer Will Andersen agrees. “I drove round the course for two hours very recently with superintendent Pat Fischer, and I thought it looked fantastic – and it hasn’t looked like that before here!” he says.

Andersen is particularly pleased that the Landmand course is not demanding so much of his time, as he has other things on his plate –completing the rebuild of the family’s other golf course, the nearby nine-hole Old Dane, which architect Trevor Dormer is in the middle of reinventing as a twelve hole loop. “The Old Dane projectis going very well,” he says. “Five holes are rough shaped, six and seven are making good progress, and Trevor is just about to shape what we expect will be a signature feature, the volcano green on the eleventh hole. We’re

in great shape to have the build finished this year, which should mean we’ll be able to welcome some preview play in 2026.”

Landmand has a lot to live up to. For the third year, the course’s management team put the entire inventory of tee times for 2025 up for sale on New Year’s Eve last year, and the entire season sold out in less than an hour!

“We know the success of Landmand, and the buzz that has created, means that visiting golfers come here expecting something really good,” says Adam Fletcher. “But we have total confidence that the golf course, combined with the brilliant work of Pat and his team, and the outstanding welcome that our entire staff provide, will allow us to more than meet those expectations.”

Seeing is Believing at EcoBunker Open Days

unker specialists

EcoBunker welcomed 20 greenkeepers and club managers from across Devon & Cornwall to its latest club open day, hosted by Newquay Golf Club.

The EcoBunker open day series is being held across the summer, giving club officials and greenkeeping teams around the U.K. the chance to draw on EcoBunker expertise in bunker design and maintenance, and to better understand the benefits to be gained from employing EcoBunker technology at their course.

“Bunkering is a complex topic, so we want to give clubs across the U.K. the chance to draw on our

vast experience,” said Richard Allen, CEO of EcoBunker. “Courses need to consider bunker design, drainage, sand choice, which liners to use, edge irrigation and many other factors. We want to help them unpick the topic and find solutions that best fit their needs. We have chosen venues for the open days that have installed EcoBunker technology so we can show examples at work and also introduce them to greenkeepers and course officials who have benefitted from investing in their bunkers.”

The recent event at Newquay G.C. showcased the results of phase one of the club’s bunker renovation project, where all Par 3 greenside bunkers and

the bunkers on the first hole were replaced in Autumn 2024. Now fully bedded in, attendees were able to see the benefits of EcoBunker technology in action and discuss the impact of the project with Head Greenkeeper Dan Kendle.

“We’ve been delighted with the impact of Phase one,” commented Dan. “We’re exposed to the elements so the maintenance of the bunkers was a huge issue. Replacing sand, weeding, repairing eroded sections, it all added up to a real drain on our resources. Not only have we massively reduced that burden, but the course also looks better and plays better. We couldn’t be happier with phase one and it was a real pleasure to

share our experience of working with EcoBunker with the visitors who attended the Open day.”

This was the third open day in the series, following events at Cotterell Park G.C. and Lexden Wood G.C. The events have seen the team share information on course design, irrigation and drainage, and at Lexden Wood they were able to show the current full course project installing EcoTec™ bunker liners.

“When people hear EcoBunker, they will often think of our high revetted bunkers, but there is far more to our service than that,” continued Richard. “Our expertise is unrivalled. We bring a holistic approach to every project that considers the course type and layout, the ground conditions, the local climate and many more factors, before applying the most suitable technology, or even removing bunkers completely where they’re not needed! Our

Open days are a fantastic chance for us to show people what we can do, and for them to learn what is possible at their venue.”

Pitch Recovery in Focus: Meeting the Demands of 2025

The 2024/2025 football season presented unprecedented challenges for grounds teams across the UK. Southern England experienced its wettest September since 1918, with ten counties recording their highest rainfall levels on record, leading to widespread flooding and pitch saturation.

Prolonged exposure to such conditions can result in soil compaction, poor drainage, turf thinning, and uneven surfaces, all of which compromise player safety and pitch performance. Grounds teams now face the uphill task of restoring pitches in time for the next campaign, which is no small challenge! Sherriff understand the pressures faced by the grounds care industry. As an example, their comprehensive renovation and maintenance solutions are designed to restore and enhance football pitches, ensuring they meet the highest standards for the upcoming season. By combining industry-leading products with expert agronomic advice, Sherriff partners with client to rejuvenate their pitches, ensuring optimal playability and resilience throughout the season. suite of equipment from GKB Machines has been entrusted with prolonging the longevity and boosting the performance of five artificial playing surfaces at Ipswich School. Installed by dealers Ernest Doe in September 2024, a Quick Brush, Rotobrush and GKB Deep Clean are bringing new-found time-savings and efficiency to both routine and more intensive maintenance.

Rated the number one independent school in Suffolk and Norfolk, sport forms a major part of the curriculum for the students at Ipswich School. Keeping an array of natural and all-weather surfaces in top-flight condition for cricket, hockey and winter sports is a team of eight headed up by Grounds Maintenance Manager Syd Townsend. “The all-weather pitches across our Westwood campus and Rushmere Sports Centre have been installed over a number of years and the time was now right to invest in equipment to optimise their performance and protect our investment” he explains.

“We previously didn’t have any mechanised attachments or equipment, so we were drag brushing the surfaces manually which was labour intensive and restricted us from being able to conduct operations as often as we’d like.” For a solution, Syd spoke with local dealers Ernest Doe who brought in a selection of machines from the GKB synthetic portfolio for the team to trial on their facilities. “It was important that anything we purchased would work with our existing tractors. Of the four machines we demoed, we purchased three of them and in a short period of time, they have already proven their worth.”

“The Quick Brush and Rotobrush are in use regularly, standing up the fibres and redistributing the sand dressing. The Rotobrush does a fantastic job of the perimeter areas, in particular, agitating any moss and bringing it to the surface for collection with the Deep Clean.” Syd continues, “We’ll be using the Deep Clean during school holidays to give the pitches a more intensive renovation, on

top of the more routine collection of leaves and other detritus.”

A GKB Machines delivers top class artificial surfaces at Ipswich School

“A large proportion of our synthetic pitches are surrounded by overhanging trees. The days of using a blower or manually raking up leaves have gone, and we can now quickly and effectively collect these and other smaller particulates in a more sustainable way.”

While each machine has been well received, Syd considers the combination of equipment to be the golden ticket to perfecting the performance of the playing surfaces. “Not only has the kit delivered exactly what we hoped, the service and training we received from Ernest Does and GKB was outstanding. Despite having to reschedule our training day due to unpredictable weather and staff holidays, both companies were incredibly flexible. On the day all eight operatives had the opportunity to ask any questions and undergo full training to ensure they were confident with the equipment which will all help us to achieve the very best results.”

Kubota LX401 pairing pull their weight at AFC Bournemouth!

ontinued investment in the facilities at AFC Bournemouth has seen the purchase of two new LX401 compact tractors from Kubota. With a Kubota ST401 already based at the club’s Vitality Stadium, the two new additions will be shared between the existing training ground and brand-new state-of-the-art training complex - where they’ll be key to executing the year-round maintenance on the four sand-based, desso pitch constructions.

The investment off the pitch appears to be paying dividends on it with the club, nicknamed ‘The Cherries’, at the end of one of the most successful seasons in Bournemouth’s history. In charge of facilities is Head of Grounds Ian Lucas who is, currently, maintaining four sites assisted by a team of 11. In equipping the new 24-hectare training ground with its own machinery fleet, Ian explored all the options when it came to compact tractors – with Kubota proving

more ‘compact’ than others…

“No groundsman wants to be putting more weight on their pitches than they need to – it’s critical to find the balance of retaining a low footprint but having enough lift capacity for all the implements we use” Ian explains. “We compared a number of options in the mid-compact arena and found that not only was the Kubota specification better, it had a slightly higher

lift capacity and was half a tonne lighter. When the competition indicated it was down to build quality, I told them I’d never had a Kubota break down on me!”

“Just like our ST401 at the stadium, the new LXs are incredibly comfortable to operate and have demonstrated their capability on a range of maintenance tasks at the two training grounds including aeration and regular drag-brushing.”

With time a precious commodity for the team, and the cost of materials

ever-increasing, Ian made the decision to have all three tractors equipped with GPS systems. “Initially we thought this would be useful for seeding, where it can be difficult to monitor accuracy when passing on bare sand. However, we now utilise the technology to optimise our spraying and fertiliser programmes and improve efficiency on tasks that can otherwise be quite monotonous.”

The adaptations on the tractor fleet, together with all sales, support and service, is delivered by local Kubota

dealer E G Coles. “We’ve always had fantastic back up from the team at E G Coles, particularly Andy Frost who always goes out of his way to help us out when we need information or assistance.”

Ian adds, “It feels like an incredibly exciting period for AFC Bournemouth. With the three Kubota compact tractors at our disposal, we’re in a much better position to deliver surfaces not just fit for the first team, but for players of all ages and abilities across the club, putting us in great stead for the future.”

“Give Me Three Minutes”

How 1776 United FC Took the Stress Out of Pitch Prep

or 1776 United FC, a youth football club based in Wallingford, Pennsylvania, pitch marking used to be a weekly logistical headache. But with the introduction of a TinyMobileRobot Pro X from TinyMobileRobots, everything changed quite rapidly.

Sam Griggs, Executive Director of the club, recalls the turning point: “Once we got the TinyMobileRobot, the whole

method of setting out the fields each week changed.” Before that, marking pitches for weekly matches and tournaments was a manual, time-consuming grind. Now, with a few taps on a tablet, Griggs can assign pitch sizes, orientations, and locations - all while soaking up the morning sun.

This isn’t just about convenience; the robot has made a major difference in operational efficiency. “Each year, the cost of the robot is about fifty per cent of what we were paying in labour. Plus, we had some paint savings by cutting the cost of lining our fields in half... it wasn’t a hard sell at the board meeting.”

The club runs a one-day tournament that uses up to twenty pitches across multiple sites. The real test came when a planned school field was deemed unsafe the day before the event. “We had a school district field

that we were going to use. I get a call from our guy who’s checking it, saying it feels unplayable. It’s not safe. I said, ‘What size is it?’ He said, ‘Seven v seven.’ And I said, ‘Give me three minutes.’ Within twenty minutes of that phone call, we had the field lined, goals out, ready to go.”

But it’s not just about crisis management. The ability to quickly adapt pitch sizes based on sign-ups has also added flexibility for youth matches, enabling younger players to compete on premier surfaces. And the aesthetic benefits? Griggs shares that the fields look clean, precise, and even personalised - the club’s name is added to the turf for big matches.

For clubs juggling limited staff and rising expectations, 1776 United shows how a linemarking robot isn’t a luxury - it’s an essential upgrade.

How Wallace Contracts Boosted Efficiency, Safety, and Sustainability with Raymo Remote-Controlled Mowers

hen Wallace Contracts Northern Ireland needed a safer, more efficient way to manage sloped and highmaintenance sites, they turned to the Raymo electric remote-controlled mower from ISEKI UK & Ireland.

What began as a solution for mowing banks has rapidly evolved into a key part of their day-to-day operations. It delivers significant savings in time, fuel, and transport while boosting safety and operator satisfaction.

“We started looking because we had a few banks that needed to be done,” explains Managing Director Graeme Wallace. “They were awkward, sloped sites where traditional kit wasn’t practical. But once we got the Raymo, we were delighted with it.”

The company, which operates in landscaping, building maintenance, insurance repairs, and winter maintenance, originally purchased one Raymo in 2023. Within a year, it had four in the fleet and is already planning to invest in more.

“We were able to do away with some of our bigger mowers that needed trailers,” Graeme said. “The Raymo

fits in the back of a van, so there’s no trailer, ramp or hassle, and that alone saves time on every job.

“We’re getting an extra site done a day, just because it’s quicker to load, unload and move around, and when we’re at a job, the Raymo is efficient and has an excellent cut quality. All of that is a major gain for us.”

Wallace Contracts now fits its vans with onboard chargers, allowing machines to be topped up between sites. With a four to five hour battery life, the Raymo easily handles a full working day when recharged on the move.

Adding to the versatility are the two cutting decks. The team uses the 42-inch Flex deck for fine mulching, ideal for commercial areas, and the 48-inch Craft deck for heavier, less frequently cut grass. Depending on the job, they carry both in the van and swap as needed.

“You might be at a church one hour and a telecoms site the next, where the grass is a foot and a half high,” Graeme explains. “Being able to switch decks so quickly makes a big difference.”

The lightweight electric mower also enables work in soft or wet ground conditions, where heavier diesel machines would typically have to wait. “If it’s too wet to take a tractor onto a football pitch, slope or bank, we’ll send the Raymo in first,” Graeme says.

“It doesn’t sink or damage the turf, and that’s opened up more flexibility in how we schedule jobs.”

Sticking to the schedule is crucial to their operation, and reliable support from their local dealer, Cyril Johnston, is a significant factor for Graeme.

“Back-up is crucial to any operation,” Graeme explains. “You buy equipment based on how good the dealer and their back-up service are. With Cyril Johnston, we’re working with a company that really looks after us and acts quickly, which is why we have such a strong working relationship”

With its combination of performance, efficiency, and environmental benefits, supported by reliable local service from Cyril Johnston, the Raymo is helping the business work smarter across every site.

York Racecourse looks to the future with technology from GroundTech

he award-winning grounds team at York Racecourse have gained two new recruits, in the form of an Echo TM-1050 and Echo TM-2050 robotic mower from GroundTech. In the few shorts weeks since their delivery, the pair have been well received by Head Groundsman Adrian Kay as well as visitors to site who have commented that the enclosures and other perimeter areas have never presented better at this time of year.

With a busy race season from May to October, and a calendar compromising of weddings and corporate functions, the maintenance is a year-round operation for Adrian and his team of seven. Like many in the sector, York Racecourse have found recruitment to be a challenge, particularly since the pandemic. They’ve decided to turn to technology to provide a helping hand. “We recognise that people don’t want to be working 60-70 hours per week, or at unsociable hours, much of which was attributable to the time

it takes to mow our expanses of lawn. By investing in this pair of robotic mowers, I can redeploy my skilled team to other maintenance tasks, ensuring we can maintain presentation levels” Adrian explains.

Following advice from Echo’s Sam Daybell, they opted for the Echo TM-1050 and TM-2050. “We worked really well together, assessing the size and specification of the prospective areas to find the right fit. The TM-1050 is primarily used on our premium grass car parking areas, and the TM-2050 on the enclosures, parade rings and a number of medium and high spec lawns.”

“We’re already benefiting from all the well-documented advantages that robotics brings –mowing through the night and at weekends, in all manner of weather conditions.” Adrian continues, “It’s also meant that we’ve been able to retain presentation over a difficult, wet winter with the light footprint of the robots. This has not gone unnoticed by visitors to the course.”

“Considering the wider benefits, it means less need to turn to our petrol or diesel mowers which is a big plus from an environmental sustainability standpoint.

In 2023 we launched ‘Green Knavesmire 300’ demonstrating our commitment to reaching Net Zero by 2040, with these new editions from GroundTech playing their part in this wider goal.”

Together with the expert support from the team at GroundTech and Echo, Adrian is enjoying exploring the full functionality of the software, allowing him to monitor the robots 24/7.

“I’m not sure I should admit this in print, but I find I’m on the app at four in the morning, making sure everything is going according to plan!” he laughs.

“But it is very useful, being able to see things like the battery life etc. Every day we’re taking the opportunity to learn more about them and really bed them into our routine before the season kicks off in May.”

INFINICUT® SM34 proves ‘too good to share’ at leading Scottish sports complex

e’re taught from a young age that ‘sharing is caring’ but for Grant McDermid, Head Groundsman of Hearts Training Pitch, when you have a machine as good as the INFINICUT® SM34 Rotary Mower it’s a challenging philosophy! Installed for use at the Oriam Sports Performance Centre – which is also home to the hybrid training surface of Hearts FC – the ability to pre-programme and select set-up configurations of the SM34 on the InfiniApp™ has made the shared usage situation that much easier.

Located in Edinburgh, Oriam is home to some of the best sports facilities in Scotland, offering an unrivalled performance environment for sports teams and athletes of all levels. Working alongside Oriam’s dedicated grounds team looking after the mix of natural and artificial playing surfaces is Grant, who is solely responsible for the maintenance of the hybrid pitch construction used for Hearts first team training four times a week. “The majority of the equipment used across the wider complex, including mowers, are ride-on whereas I hand cut this pitch” Grant explains. “To deliver the high levels required by the first team, it’s crucial I have the right tools for the job.”

“Oriam have a longstanding relationship with dealers Fairways GM and, I myself,

with Alan Jack of INFINICUT® so there was very little competition when it came to finding a new rotary mower for the all-important clean up cut. I’d been fortunate enough to trial the SM34 previously so knew how it worked and how easy it was to use, so was delighted when one was installed at the end of March… the trouble is I have to share it!” he laughs.

One saving grace for Grant has been the InfiniApp™, allowing each operator to store a number of parameters such as deck speed and walking speed, for quick and simple set-up straight from a smart device. “Not only does this save a huge amount of time, it also means I can be assured of consistency with every operation - and

consistency, as they say, is key.”

Grant continues, “Everything with the purchase, the installation and all the support we received from both Fairways and Alan Jack has been excellent and, since we’ve had the machine, I’ve been really impressed with the quality of cut and finish it delivers.” With the endof-season renovation now taking place on the Hearts pitch, the SM34 Rotary is primed and ready to be back in action when pre-season training returns at the end of June. “Now that I’ve had a taster of what this machine will help us to achieve, I can’t wait to start using it as part of my daily maintenance programme. It’s going to be in demand that’s for sure!”

Kubota M4073 praised for delivering power and productivity at Meldrum House Golf Club

ubota M4073 has been praised by Meldrum House Golf Club, providing high capacity and productivity on turf tyres, ensuring a sensitive footprint. Delivered alongside an L2452 with loader by HRN Tractors in August 2024, the addition of the higher horsepower model has given the team the ability to tackle larger and more specialist tasks inhouse, to the benefit of both the

golf course and wider estate.

Meldrum House was acquired by Apex Hotels in May 2024. As part of ongoing investment in the site, Golf Course and Grounds Manager Kenny Harper, was tasked with the replacement of the clubs tractor fleet – and he knew exactly where to turn, thanks to his longstanding relationship with local dealers HRN. “A major part of any equipment purchase for us

is the back-up support we receive, and we know we have that in HRN” Kenny explains. “With that assured, we then needed to know that the machines themselves were up to task when HRN switched franchises to Kubota. They brought in demonstrator models and it wasn’t long before we decided that was spot on too.”

“Increasingly, we were finding implements were putting too

much strain on the tractor, or the tractor itself didn’t have enough power or grip for some of the heavier tasks. The solution was to purchase two Kubota models – an L2452 which is a straight replacement for a similar size compact tractor we were using and the M4, which is a pretty sizeable step-up to give us greater scope and capacity.”

The M4 series from Kubota is a proven all-rounder, with an extremely spacious and comfortable cab and a reliable, efficient 4-cylinder Kubota diesel engine at its core. With 74hp, the

M4073 model delivers maximum power and particularly strong rear hydraulics to provide full lifting power to suit all greenkeeping and estate management tasks.

“One feature the team and I particularly like on both tractors is the gear selection and constant speed controller which gives us pinpoint control over engine speed which is important for creeper tasks such as trenching or sandbanding.” He continues, “The pair have been pretty much non-stop since they arrived with winter aeration and renovation works and haven’t missed a beat.”

Another of the winter tasks the M4073 has taken in its stride is woodland management across the 18 parkland holes and hotel estate. Partnered with a new 8-tonne trailer, Kenny and the team now benefit from twice as much space and power than their previous set-up. “We had to hire-in equipment for large tree works and were dependent on what was available when we needed it. The Kubota and trailer now enable us to conduct the task in-house which, in itself, brings many benefits.” He concludes, “We’re yet to really find anything the M4 can’t do!”

Three years after receiving the initial recommendation, the team at The Worcestershire Golf Club are continuing to discover the benefits of running their 2-stroke equipment on Aspen Fuel. Course Manager Steve Lloyd explains how Aspen alkylate petrol is providing clean, reliable power for an array of high-output hand tools and claims that, since switching, the club have all-but eliminated costly carburettor issues and machinery downtime.

Nestled at the foot of the Malvern Hills, The Worcestershire is proudly one of England’s oldest golf clubs – offering the membership a challenging, mature parkland course. It was here, in the purchase of new backpack blowers for the momentous task of leaf clearance, that Steve and his team of seven were put onto Aspen. “Tim Lane of ATH Machinery suggested we give Aspen-2 a try, explaining the benefits it could bring to engine life and reliability and also for the cleaner working environment it

creates for the operator. We’ve not looked back since” Steve says.

“Aspen-2 being pre-mixed gives us unbeatable consistency which is not only far better for the health and function of the engine but is quicker and safer for the operators not having to manually mix. The transformation in engine performance and reduction in emissions was evident very quickly.” He continues, “This saw us convert over to Aspen for not just the backpack blowers, but also our strimmers, chainsaws and other high-output hand tools which – as it stands – are not viable to run efficiently or economically on battery-power.”

Virtually free from ethanol, aromatics and benzene, Aspen alkylate petrol presents a 99% cleaner fuel than ordinary petrol in regard to the levels of hazardous hydrocarbons. This equates to benefits for operators, equipment and the wider environment alike – where the significant

reduction in toxic emissions makes it a popular choice for professional users and those pursuing greater sustainability in their maintenance operations.

“I think people can sometimes be deterred by the cost implications of using an alternative fuel” Steve adds. “In our experience, this has been offset by the lack of mechanical and component issues we’ve experienced since using Aspen, together with the convenience of it being pre-mixed and the time saved by having the 60L drums delivered to site.”

Those wishing to trial Aspen within their businesses can now do so, risk-free, with a money back guarantee. Subject to a bulk purchase, if you don’t ‘Experience the Difference’, Aspen will refund you the cost difference compared to what you would have spent on pump fuel. More details on this can be found on the Aspen website, or by speaking to the team at BTME on stand 423.

Suståne supports the sustainability goals of Sweden’s Mjölby Golfklubb

EO Certified and described as an ‘outstanding role model for sustainability in golf’, Sweden’s Mjölby Golfklubb provides an interesting mix of nine holes played on open formerfarmland and nine holes in dense parkland – all maintained to the highest environmental standards. An important part of this is a nutritional programme orientated around organics – more specifically, 6-2-4 Turf Revival® and 5-2-4+Fe from Suståne.

Sustainability is a priority across many aspects of the club operation, a philosophy shared and implemented by Course Manager Peter Ihrebrink and the greenkeeping team of four. The work to protect and develop nature and community, while being sympathetic to water, energy and material resources has seen Mjölby highly ranked in a number of global golf club awards, including in the ‘International’ category of the highly prestigious ‘Golf Environment Awards’.

“We had been using organic fertilisers for a number of years before making the switch to Suståne – a decision we made after thorough discussion with our local distributor CropHealth AB” describes Peter. “After conducting soil analysis we settled on a programme of two or three applications of Suståne 6-2-4 Turf Revival® during the main growing season, followed by one application of 5-2-4+Fe to provide an extra boost of nutrients and long-lasting slow-release nitrogen as we head into the winter months.”

Suståne Turf Revival® 6-2-4 is designed to replenish the soil with a rich supply of humus and mycorrhizal fungi, to improve the uptake of nutrients and boost overall plant health. Particularly beneficial for us around renovations or intensive maintenance, the mix of macro and micronutrients contributes towards optimal plant establishment and quick greenup, followed by up to eight weeks

of uniform growth and colour.

“This is something we have certainly noticed - that we achieve greener grass without the lateral growth creating a healthier turf surface that looks and performs better.” In addition, Peter notes the reduction in disease activity the team have noticed since switching to Suståne. “Overall we have also seen a decrease in disease activity, though the everchanging climate does mean we are constantly monitoring this.”

He adds, “We really value the advice and close working relationship we have with CropHealth AB who conduct regular soil samples to make sure the programme is on track and delivering the results we expect. We are seeing improvements in the composition of our profile which is giving us the strong foundation we need to support more sustainable grass species and create top-level playing surfaces without the need for artificial chemicals or products.”

New airter® models and partnership promise to revolutionise active aeration

Lister Wilder have reached an agreement with Novokraft AG to become the new exclusive UK importer for airter® – the world’s only continuous and homogenously operating pneumatic soil aerator.

After more than three years in development, the airter® neo and airter® trike are set to revolutionise sports turf aeration, utilising high compressed air to not only break through surface compaction, but provide 100% biological and effective control of pests, root-damaging grubs and Tipula larvae (Leather Jackets).

The airter® neo 12140 is equipped with 12 lances making

it ideal for large golf greens and football pitches, which can be covered in less than three and a half hours. One of the largest models in the airter® range, it’s set to deliver high productivity without excess weight preventing any further, unnecessary compaction.

Designed for smaller areas such as golf greens, the airter® trike 8140 is an electrically-driven, self propelled unit featuring 8 lances. The working depth on both models can now be quickly and easily adjusted to

suit operations between 8cm and 20cm in the ground.

IT’S ALL ABOUT

The Cost of Safety: Why It Pays to Choose Trimax

n an industry where safety should be nonnegotiable, too many operators are still put at risk—often by equipment that falls short of modern expectations. According to the HSE, someone working in land-based industries loses their life every week—many of these incidents involving machinery and entirely preventable.

At Trimax, we believe that protecting your people starts with the tools they use. That’s why safety isn’t just a feature of our mowers—it’s a fundamental part of how we design and build them, from the ground up.

Why Safety Should Drive Purchasing Decisions

It’s easy to see why safety sometimes takes a back seat. Budgets are tight, timelines are tighter, and there’s pressure to deliver results quickly. In this environment, the cheapest option can look attractive. But

what happens when that lowcost machine breaks down—or worse, puts an operator at risk?

The fallout from a safety incident goes far beyond the initial injury. Lost productivity, rising insurance premiums, legal costs, and reputational damage are just the beginning. When organisations choose machinery designed with safety at its core, they’re not just complying with regulations—they’re actively protecting their team, their operations, and their future.

A Real-World Understanding of Risk

Machinery used in grounds maintenance faces unpredictable challenges: rough terrain, poor weather, overgrown areas, and the demands of long operating hours. It’s in these environments that safety features really matter. Because when machinery is intuitive to use and built to last, it naturally supports safer working practices.

Beyond Compliance: Building Confidence

Meeting CE or UKCA safety standards is important—but it’s just the beginning. The question isn’t whether a machine ticks the regulatory boxes. It’s whether it empowers operators to work confidently, efficiently, and without fear of mechanical failure or injury. Trimax’s philosophy is simple: safer machines perform better. When operators trust their equipment, they work faster and more effectively. That means less downtime, fewer mistakes, and a team that knows their employer has their back.

Safety is Personal

Whether it’s a contractor cutting roadside verges, a council team mowing recreation grounds, or a sports facility maintaining top-class turf—every machine operator deserves to go home safe at the end of the day. Safety is personal. It’s about

the individuals who make up your team. It’s about protecting their ability to work, provide for their families, and live without injury or trauma caused by avoidable incidents.

That’s why at Trimax, we don’t just build machines—we build trust. We listen to the needs of those who operate, service, and depend on our equipment. Then we design around those needs. Because when people feel safe, they feel valued—and that leads to better retention, higher job satisfaction, and improved results.

The Business Case for Investing in Safety

There’s a misconception that safety is expensive. But the truth is, unsafe equipment is far more costly in the long run.

According to Statista, the fatal injury rate in the land-based sector is more than 20 times the UK average. In 2024, millions of working days were lost due to non-fatal injuries, many linked to machinery. Each of these incidents represents more than just a statistic—they’re disruptions

to your operation and threats to your business continuity.

Trimax customers often tell us they see a return on their investment not just in reduced downtime, but in team performance, fewer repair costs, and longer machine lifespans. When you choose equipment designed with care, you’re not only preventing accidents—you’re promoting operational excellence.

A Culture Shift Starts with the Right Tools

Creating a safety-first culture requires more than policies and paperwork. It starts with providing the right tools for the job. When teams are equipped with machines that make safe operation second nature, you build a workplace where caution isn’t a burden—it’s a habit.

Trimax designs help reinforce that culture. Every detail is there for a reason. Because good design leads to good habits—and good habits keep people safe.

Future-Proofing Your Operations

As regulations evolve and public

scrutiny around safety increases, organisations need to stay ahead of the curve. Choosing equipment that already exceeds current standards is one way to future-proof your operation. But more importantly, it ensures you’re always putting people first. In an industry where skilled workers are hard to find and harder to keep, showing your commitment to safety is a major competitive advantage.

Final Thoughts

Safety should never be an afterthought. It should be at the heart of every decision you make about your machinery, your team, and your business.

At Trimax, we’ve spent decades helping organisations across the UK and beyond protect what matters most—people. And while we’re proud of the engineering behind our products, we’re even more proud of the impact they make, every day.

Because in this industry, safety doesn’t cost. It pays.

Eco Clipper: Sustainable Mowing for High-Performance Turf

TMaintaining large turf areas to professional standards requires equipment that performs consistently in all conditions. The Eco Clipper mowing system delivers that reliability, having evolved from commercial turfgrass production to serve sports facilities, parks, and estates across Europe.

Consistent Cut Quality

Eco Clipper’s unique mowing technology ensures a clean, uniform cut whether grass is dry or damp. How Brentwood Tree Surgery Reached New Heights with the Avant 630

hen Adrian Strudwick, owner of Brentwood Tree Surgery, was weighing up whether to hire another employee or invest in a new machine, he made a game-changing decision — and hasn’t looked back since.

The purchase of an Avant 630 compact loader has not only accelerated operations across his tree surgery and firewood businesses, but it’s also unlocked new opportunities, turning the machine into what Adrian now calls “the centre of the firm.”

Adrian’s background is in engineering — he began in aircraft engineering before joining the forces in 1982. After leaving the military, he retrained in arboriculture, eventually gaining a degree in the subject and setting up Brentwood Tree Surgery. Over the years, his business has expanded to include firewood processing, site management, and driveway installation — and the Avant 630 has been instrumental in driving that growth.

The Avant 630 isn’t just a forestry machine for Adrian — it’s a versatile workhorse. Used both on-site and at the yard, the compact loader handles everything from loading trucks and towing trailers to moving hay bales for horses and feeding timber into kilns.

“We use it for shifting machinery, unloading our Unimog, clearing the yard, moving crates of firewood — you name it,” says Adrian. “It’s sped up production so much. What used to take multiple people and hours of manual labour, we can now do faster, more efficiently, and with less fatigue.”

Its versatility comes from its size, agility, and the vast range of attachments available — Adrian currently uses forks, a loading bucket, a power rake, and a stone burier, with plans to add a stump grinder and flail mower to his kit.

On-site at Barrack Wood, a historic woodland near Warley and Thorndon Country Park, Adrian uses the Avant 630 to manage timber extraction with minimal impact on the environment.

“It’s relatively light on the ground, so you don’t get the damage you would with a 10-tonne forestry vehicle,” he explains. “You can trailer it in and out easily, and you don’t need to leave it on site overnight. It’s so versatile.”

Barrack Wood, steeped in history from the Napoleonic era, is a delicate environment. Adrian’s careful management and the Avant’s low ground pressure make it an ideal combination

for sustainable woodland work.

Brentwood Tree Surgery also runs a kiln-dried firewood company — the only one in the area with a wood kiln capable of drying 15 tonnes of timber in just five days.

“All the waste wood is burnt in biomass boilers to fuel the kiln,” says Adrian. “The Avant loads the firewood processor, moves the crates into the kiln, and unloads them when they’re ready. It’s essential to how we work now.”

The high-quality firewood meets DEFRA and Woodsure standards — a key requirement in today’s market — and Adrian credits the Avant 630 for helping maintain this efficiency and quality.

“It ticks so many boxes for a machine of its size. You can do so many different types of work with it – it really is a super tool,” he says. “And the quick-release hydraulics make switching attachments a matter of seconds. No downtime.”

He’s been so impressed with the performance that after three years of ownership, he’s looking to add a second unit — or possibly upgrade and keep the original.

Adrian also praises the support he’s received from Avant’s dealer, Avant South East. “Chris and the team have been fantastic. They’re a family-run firm and really good to work with.”

For Brentwood Tree Surgery, the Avant 630 has become far more than a machine — it’s a business enabler.

“It really is the centre of the firm now,” says Adrian. “The amount of jobs it can do is endless.”

Designed for Professionals, Built for Every pitch.

From football fields to golf courses, maintaining top-quality sports surfaces requires efficiency, precision, and minimal ground impact. That’s why Avant compact loaders are the go-to choice for sports turf professionals.

With over 200 attachments, Avant loaders tackle everything from aeration and topdressing to turf sweeping and material handling—allowing you to do more with one machine. Their articulated design and low ground pressure ensure pristine playing surfaces, making them the perfect low-impact solution for every sports venue.

Powerful. Versatile. Built for the pitch.

TURF IS BETTER WITH FOLEY

Robust, Reliable and Absolutely Right Major Contoura Delivers Quality, Value and Performance for Coventry Golf Club in Warwickshire.

ounded in 1887, Coventry Golf Club is a prestigious parkland course nestled within 140 acres of scenic Warwickshire countryside. Known for its top-tier facilities and fast-growing grass on claybased terrain, Course Manager Joel Chappell recognised the need for a mower that could meet high performance standards with minimal maintenance.

“Our previous rough mowers were costly to keep running and simply couldn’t handle the workload,” Joel said. “With how quickly the rough grows here, we need to mow almost every day. Reliability and efficiency were non-negotiable.”

Following in-depth research, Joel and his team opted for the Major Contoura MJ76-360, replacing their outdated equipment. The Contoura offered excellent value for money. “Spending £13,000 in one season just to keep a rough mower going makes you rethink your options,” he noted.

“For £60,000, we got a brandnew Contoura for the rough and semi-rough, plus a new tractor. It made complete financial sense.”

The team cuts the rough at 50mm and appreciates the mower’s ease of adjustment. “The Contoura delivers a sharp, clean cut across all types of grass. We can now mow at 7 to 8 mph and cover around

ten acres an hour,” said Joel.

Key features of the Contoura include its 3.6-metre cutting width, three pivoting decks, fullwidth rollers for a professional striped look and a robust geardriven system that ensures consistent power. “We looked at other models, but the beltdriven option didn’t offer the reliability we get with the Contoura’s driveline,” he added.

Durability and low maintenance were also major priorities. Built from Strenx™ 700MC high-strength steel and hot-dip galvanised for rust resistance, the Contoura is backed by a threeyear manufacturer’s warranty.

“We mow close to tree roots and other hazards, so we need something built to last. The galvanised frame and sturdy design give us peace of mind,” Joel said. “And maintenance is incredibly straightforward—this machine is a huge improvement over what we had before.”

The smooth buying process and fast two-week delivery from local dealer Farol further enhanced the experience. Joel strongly recommends the Contoura to any course looking for long-term value and dependable performance. “It really does tick all the boxes. It has a solid build, great results and excellent reliability. Choosing the Contoura has proven to be the right decision for us.”
