I want to take this opportunity to give everyone a little overview of our Cathedral City Police Department’s organization and responsibilities in our city. Cathedral City is one of the 4 out of 9 major cities in the Coachella Valley that has it’s own City Police Department. The others being Desert Hot Springs, Palm Springs, and Indio. Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells, Coachella and La Quinta all have contracted with Riverside County Sheriffs Department. Along with county unincorporated areas like Thermal and Thousand Palms. The major advantage to our Cities Police Department is: we have the same Officers everyday in our city, along with the Dispatch Center and Office/Records Dept.

We have a Chief of Police, Deputy Chief, 3 Commanders and 9 Sergeants. We have 4 motor officers (motorcycle traffic control), Swatt (Special Weapons and Tactics Team), PACT (Police Accountability Team, GIT (Gang Impact Team, County Wide), 2 Homeless Liaison Officers, CVNTF (Coachella Valley Narcotics Task Force), CSO (Community Service Officers), CBAT (Community Behavioral Team Officer), Records Staff, Dispatchers (Police & Fire/EMT), Detectives, Professional Standards Bureau (IA), Reserve Officers, Cadets, Explorers, and COP (Volunteer Citizens On Patrol). Two twelve hour patrol shifts 24/7, with officers, sergeant and motors. Everyone reports to the Chief of Police and are on the same communications radio. You are welcome to schedule a ride along if you would like, and/or apply to volunteer in our COP.

It is not unusual for agencies to work together in communities to serve arrest warrants or work in teams to handle large criminal investigations. In addition, the Riverside County Sherriff’s Department generally serves eviction notices on property in this and other communities in our county. Remember ALL Federal Agencies (HSI, CBP, ICE, FBI) have the right to enter property, work and perform law enforcement everywhere, no permission needed (including private property, no warrant required). No such thing as “Sanctuary City or State” for law enforcement . The County Sherriff's Department man’s the Helicopter in this area of the Country. We are very fortunate here to have an awesome police force and live in a very safe city. If you have any questions please give me a call. Please never hesitate to call our local police department, and/or visit. even request a “Ride-Along’ with an officer. Bill Kelly 909-915-7907, CCPD C.O.P. President and DPCC C.O.P. President

How to solve sudoku puzzles

No math is required to solve a sudoku. You only need logic and patience. Simply make sure that each 3x3 square region has only one instance of the numbers 1-9. Similarly, each number

can only appear once in a column or row in the larger grid. The difficulty on this puzzle is easy.

The title is a clue to the word in the shaded diagonal.

The Lighter Side Plan ahead

A groundhog named Phil woke up on February 2nd, peeked out of his burrow, saw his shadow, and sighed dramatically.

He turned to his wife and said, "Six more weeks of winter... but at least we'll have Valentine's Day to look forward to!"

She rolled her eyes and replied, "Honey, you say that every year. And every year you still forget to get me flowers."

Phil thought for a second, then grinned.

"True... but this time I'm prepared! I already ordered them."

"Really?" she asked, surprised.

"Yeah," he said proudly, "I got you a dozen roses... they're just six weeks late because of the shadow thing."

The Lion Tamer

A man tells the circus master that he wants to join the circus as a lion tamer. The circus master asked if he has any experience and the man says, "Why, yes. My father was one of the most famous lion tamers in the world, and he taught me everything he knew."

"Really?" said the circus master. "Did he teach you how to make a lion jump through a flaming hoop?"

"Yes he did," the man replies.

"And did he teach you how to have six lions form a pyramid?"

"Yes he did," the man replies.

"And have you ever stuck your head in a lion's mouth?"

"Just once," the man replies.

The circus master asks, "Why only once?"

The man says, "I was looking for my father."
