Welcome We are excited to welcome you to The Crazy Coqs for the very first HORIZONS concert! Our aim is for more people to appreciate and enjoy the magic of new musical theatre.

There are so many talented composers and lyricists writing music today and we believe their songs deserve to be heard by a broader audience.

We've brought together a cast of talented musical theatre performers who will bring to life the stories within tonight's songs, transforming our perspectives, and inspiring us to seek new horizons.

It's been a true privilege to curate a selection of songs that, ultimately, honours those who wrote them.

Meet The Songwriters Kansley & Lidert Kurt Kansley and Oliver Lidert have worked extensively in the theatrical industry onstage as performers and behind the scenes in production, writing, composing, arranging, directing and musical directing.

Kurt was born in South Africa and moved to Australia with his family as a child. In Australia, he studied for a BA in Performing Arts at Monash University and a Diploma of Music at the Melba Conservatoire of Music with a major in voice and piano. Oliver was born in the USA and is the son of a Polish Jew and a Jamaican. He has a BAF in Musical Theatre from the University of Arts in Philadelphia and an MA in Musical Theatre from the Central School of Speech and Drama.

Collectively, Kurt and Oliver have performed in West End productions that include – The Prince of Egypt, The Book of Mormon, Miss Saigon, Ragtime, Disney’s Aladdin, Pretty Woman, Evita, Beautiful – The Carole King Story, Porgy & Bess, Heathers, RENT, Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar and many others. It was on Disney’s The Lion King that Kurt and Oliver first met each other, kindling a lifelong friendship and the beginning of a flourishing writing partnership. Their first project was producing, writing, directing and MDing a onewoman show for Rachel John at The Other Palace called THE SONGS I’LL NEVER SING. Kansley & Lidert’s original work thus far comprises many stand-alone songs, a song cycle, a play and a few original musicals.

Together, they write books, music and lyrics. Current musicals are CONFESSIONS, AUTUMN RHYTHM, and FABLE. Two will have premier productions in March 2024 at The London College of Music. Kansley & Lidert’s song cycle is HAS#ED OUT, and their play is BEAM ME UP. @kansleyandlidert

Meet The Songwriters Charli Eglinton Charli is a writer for both screen and stage (devising concept, book, music and lyrics) currently involved with several theatre productions - and a current slate of nine original musicals.

In APRIL 2023 she was commissioned to write the script for the highly anticipated new musical ‘Treason’ (based on the infamous Gunpowder Plot of 1605) which premiered around the UK that autumn, concluding at the London Palladium. Her original musical ‘Wish List’ is currently in development with Global Musicals & Perfect Pitch Musicals (producers of the international hit SIX: The Musical). Her original musical ‘Saving Mozart’ is currently in development for a 2024 London premiere.

Previously, her original screenplay ‘12 Days’ won Best Screenplay at the 2020 London Independent Film Festival. In 2021, Charli’s original animated music video ‘He’s Working On It’ (which she both wrote and animated), won 12 international film awards.

Separately in 2021, her original screenplay ‘8’ was a finalist in the Oslo International Film Festival. In 2019, Charli produced and directed a sold out early concert version of her original musical ‘El8HT’ at London’s Other Palace Theatre, in conjunction with the Tete A Tete Opera Festival. That same summer, the show played a sold out run at the Asylum Steampunk Festival in Lincoln (the largest of its kind in the world).

Also in 2019, Charli’s five minute animated film of ‘8’ won Best Short Film and Overall Winner of the 2019 Moving Image Awards, as judged by the BFl and panel of industry film critics.

Age 13, winning the national 2013 Write Here Write Now With Matilda’ competition where the original West End cast of Matilda The Musical performed Charli’s original scene and song for the show on the Cambridge Theatre stage - this kickstarted a passion for a career in writing... @charlieglinton

Meet The Songwriters Eden Tredwell Eden Tredwell @edenmusicwords is a composer, lyricist and writer whose work spans everything from commercial pop to youth theatre to Japanese-inspired musicals. Her work in theatre includes ‘Galaxy Train’ (The Other Palace), ‘The New Kid’ (Aberdeen Arts Centre), ‘The Last Nativity’ (Iris Theatre), and she has had commercial releases with LoudKult, Universal, Good Soldier and Supernature. She is based in North London and is finally trying to figure out TikTok. @edenmusicwords

Matthew Greene Matthew Greene is a New York based playwright, librettist, and lyricist. His plays include THOUSAND PINES (Westport Country Playhouse), the autobiographical GOOD STANDING (United Solo Theatre Festival), GREGORIAN (Working Artists Theatre Project), ADAM AND STEVE AND THE EMPTY SEA (New York International Fringe Festival), #MORMONINCHIEF (New York International Fringe Festival), JOB WELL DONE (national finalist, American College Theatre Festival), and BREAD OF AFFLICTION (Society for the Study of Jewish American and Holocaust Literature). In 2020, he received the Stiles + Drewe Best New Song Award with Amir Shoenfeld. He is a member of the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop. @matthewinstagreene

Meet The Songwriters Amir Shoenfeld Amir Shoenfeld is a London based composer, songwriter, musical director and music producer. He is the composer of SHEILA THE TINY TURTLE, featured on the Bite-Sized Broadway podcast, and the composer and co-lyricist of OTTO WEIDT’S BRUSH & BROOM WORKSHOP FOR THE BLIND, featured on BEAM2023. He is the composer and co-lyricist of the song ‘Looking at the Moon’, winner of the Song for Our Time initiative, selected by Tony winner Jason Robert Brown. He has won the Stiles + Drewe Best New Song Award (2020) with Matthew Greene for the song ‘I’m Your Guy’ from BENNY IN BETA. Amir has also written several scores for the theatre dance company Second Hand Dance. Amir was the Cameron Mackintosh Resident Composer at Theatr Clwyd with Caitlyn Burt (2022), and is a member of BOOK, MUSIC & LYRICS (BML). @amir_shoenfeld

Caitlyn Burt Caitlyn Burt is a London based librettist and lyricist. She was the Cameron Mackintosh Resident Writer at Theatr Clwyd with Amir Shoenfeld (2022). Caitlyn wrote the libretto and lyrics for SHEILA THE TINY TURTLE, featured on the Bite-Sized Broadway podcast, and co-wrote the lyrics to the song ‘Looking at the Moon’, winner of the Song for Our Time initiative, selected by Tony winner Jason Robert Brown. Caitlyn is the book writer and colyricist of OTTO WEIDT’S BRUSH & BROOM WORKSHOP FOR THE BLIND, featured on BEAM2023, and has written the touring musical LUCY’S SEARCH FOR STARZ for International Dance Technique (Australia, 2019). She was awarded the Hosking Houses Trust Residency (2021) and won a judges Lyrebird Award for her song in the play TWENTY- TWELVE (2018). Caitlyn is a member of BOOK, MUSIC & LYRICS (BML). @caitlyn_burt_
