MGH Auxiliary: Almost 50 years giving scholarships

of the MGH Foundation, has offered Health Care Scholarships to graduating seniors from county high schools. At first, the scholarships were for nursing careers only. Later on, however, the scholarships were expanded to include technicians and therapists. Also, eligibility was extended to other students and currently-employed personnel of MGH&FC. The Scholarship Fund consists of profits from the MGH Gift Shop (which is maintained and staffed by Auxiliary members) and from Memorials made to the Auxiliary. The amount of each Scholarship Award is determined annually by the Fund’s total, and the number of selected recipients. This year’s recipients each received $2,000 for the 2015-16 academic year. Receiving scholarships are (l-r) Delaney Atkinson, Shelton High School, and Olympic College; Rachel DeMiero, Shelton High School; Irvin Garcia, Shelton High School; Marissa Hubble, MGH&FC employee; Miranda Sowle, Mary M. Knight High School; Bethaney Spear, Pensacola Christian College (2nd award); and Cynthia Thurston, MGH&FC employee.
