When you give to the Y, you strengthen our community. As the nation’s leading nonprofit for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y uses your gift to make a meaningful, enduring impact right in your own neighborhood.
YMCA Financial Assistance Program: Discounts of Y membership and programs are given to children and families in financial need. With our Open Door Program, we want to make sure no one is turned away.
Why is this done?
The YMCA is called upon by its mission to serve the entire community. The call extends to many that cannot afford the prices charged for services.
How much financial assistance is granted?
In 2024, $412,366 was provided in financial assistance & free community based programs to ensure cost is not a barrier.
Community Support Campaign: This is fundraising vehicle for the YMCA Financial Assistance Program. Donations received go to offset the scholarships granted.
What makes up the Community Support Campaign? There are two main vehicles by which money is received:
1. John R. Blossman Humanitarian Award Charity Banquet- Table sponsorships, ticket sales, silent auction
2. Individual/Company Donations
What is the John R. Blossman Humanitarian Award? All who knew John felt his deep love for the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Much of his life was spent in service to organizations that positively impacted the lives of others. The award was created to recognize those, like John, who put his fellow citizens first and is given each year at a banquet proudly hosted by the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino.
