Job Description:

- Prepare architectural drawings as delegated by the director pertaining to all the stages of the project life span and continually consult with the Directors pertaining to such delegated work.

- Architectural Work stages: Design Concept and Development, Technical Resolution, Tender Documentation and Working Drawings, Construction and Close Out.

- Take, type, and distribute minutes of meetings to the supervisor/director for checking and approving.

- Submit drawings to authorities for approval & following up

- Prepare necessary reports & assessments and issuing of documentation i.e. Payment certificates as pe JBCC

- Mentor & checking works by the younger team working under my supervision and provide workshops for interns.

- Arrange and confirm appointments with clients & various consultants

- Set up and maintain filing systems in accordance with company policy from time to time

HOUSE MATOTI - HOUSE ON A CLIFF

HOUSE MATOTI

INVISIONING ITSELF AS A FAMILY VACATION HOUSE, THE HOUSE IS LOCTED ON THE HILLS OF PORT SAINT JOHNS & OVERLOOKS THE OCEAN VIEWS. AN INFINITY POOL IS DESIGNED TO EMPHASIZE THIS. THE HOUSE CONSISTS; 2 MASTER BEDROOMS SITTING ON TOP OF EACH OTHER WITH EN-SUITES THAT HAVE A VIEW TO THE OUTDOOR LANDSCAPE. A THIRD BEDROOM IS DESIGNED AS AN ATTACHMENT TO THE MAIN HOUSE AND LANDS ITSELF AS A GUEST BEDROOM HAVING ITS OWN DECK CANTILEVERING TOWARDS THE FALLING SIDE OF THE LANDSCAPE.

RENDERS vs CONSTRUCTION

AS PART OF STAGE 4, IT WAS MADE A REQUIREMENT BY THE GOLFCOURSE EASTE TO SUBMIT 3D RENDERS OF THE HOUSE IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH ITS IMPACT TOWARDS THE GOLFCOURSE. THESE RENDERS WERE PREPRED TOGETHER WITH PHOTOS TAKEN FROM THE GOLF COURSE

A STUDENT ACCOMODATION ON THE CORNER OF BOK & BANKET STREET, DOORNFONTEIN JOHANNESBURG.

THIS WAS A PROJECT WHERE WE WERE COMISSIONED TO DESIGN A NEW STUDENT ACCOMODATION ON ONE OF THE BUSY CORNERS OF DOORNFONTEIN. ONE OF THE KEY DRIVING FACTORS WAS THAT THE BUILDING HAD TO BE VIBRANT AND MATCH THE YOUTHFUL ENERGY THAT STUDENTS BRING TO THIS BUSY HUB OF THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISCTRICT OF JOHANNESBURG.

WORKING AS A FREELANCER, I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE BROUGHT ON AS A SUB-CONSULTING ARCHITECT

CONCEPT: Humanized Connections

4 PROPOSALS

As part of the Stage 2- 3 scope, we were tasked to provide 4 different Options which would give the client a Look & Feel.

As part of the preparatory work, we had to develop As-Built drawings, detailing the internal renovation needs.

Interior Renovation: Replacing existing sanitaryware (i.e. wash hand basins and toilets), removing and replacing the finishes on internal walls, floors, doors and ceilings, to enhance the building’s hygienic requirements as well as its aesthetics and functionality.

Flooring Upgrades: Replacing flooring in specific areas with materials suited to their intended functions and to bring a modern style which meets the industry standards but ties in with the overall theme of the airport.

Ceiling Upgrades & Lighting fixtures: Upgrading some of the existing ceilings and bulkheads with new light fittings that sets a different mood and aligns with the space’s function.

Accessibility Enhancements: re-designing the paraplegic ablution & baby change room facilities to ensure universal access and compliance with accessibility standards.
