K-12 Ready In compliance to the “Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013 (RA 10533)” to be implemented for the SY 2016-2017, MFI Pasig now welcomes Senior High School applicants inclined to take the Technical-Vocational Livelihood Track (TVL) with specializations under Industrial Arts or in Information and Communications Technology strands. The implementation of the K to 12 also led to the redevelopment of its exisitng programs-- particularly the long-running Industrial Technician program which will no longer be offered--and prioritizing on the Dual Training System modality, which combines theoretical and practical training to ensure that the trainees are fully equipped with employable skills, work knowledge and attitude fit for the global market’s need for technical manpower. Although MFI would no longer offer the Industrial Technician Program (ITP), which has served the country’s need for technical manpower for more than 30 years, its brand of quality training shall continually be integrated to the new and formal offerings of MFI in all its three campuses—Pasig, Pasay and Jalajala, Rizal.

SHS Forum Oct. 26, 2015--School principals, educators and influencers were among the attendees of the Senior High School forum titled “A Closer Look at MFI’s TVL Track and its School-Industry Connections”. The forum, aimed at promoting the new program of MFI, also showcased its best practices and shared its experience and industry practices that made MFI one of the leading technical-vocational educational institutions in the country for more than 30 years. Dr. Dalisay Brawner (picutred above with MFI EVP and COO, Antonio M. Kosca, Jr.)--the multi-awarded VP for Academic Affairs of the University of Makati (the first school to implement and produce senior high school graduates)--served as the keynote speaker. Also pictured below left are forum speakers’ Erwin Dionisio (SHS Principal), Marian Villanueva (Placement Department Manager), and Joseph Marcelo (CEO of Syntech Systems Inc. and OJT partner).


The forum focused on creating awareness and educating people about vertical and urban edible gardening; on the available technologies that support start-up and small scale vertical and urban agriculture; initiate collaboration and networking to make urban gardening work in Metro Manila; and showcase the variety of opportunities available in urban agriculture. The forum attracted individuals, big and small companies alike, and welcomed special guests, including Congressman Mark A. Villar. Guests speakers included industry experts’ Ardy Cucio (Agriculturist from the Bureau of Plant Industry), Michelle Razo (Harbest Agribusiness November 5, 2015--The Urban and Vertical Corp.), and Allan T. Si (MacPlas Academy Head). Edible Gardening Forum was an effort of the Agribusiness Devlopement Department and Agri-Entrepreneurship Programs of MFI, done in partnership with the DOST-TAPI, towards developing a vibrant agro-industrial sector by integrating in its educational programs rural and urban enterprise development.

UVG Forum

A health-centric MFI 42nd Anniversary MFI Foundation, Inc. celebrated its 42nd Foundation Day last November 6 with a sports fest-themed activity participated and enjoyed by staff, teachers and students alike. Prior to this, MFI had a Health and Wellness Symposium on November 3 led by Dr. Rogelio Salindong, M.D., FCOM, an Integrative Medicine Specialist and the Founder, CEO and Medical Director of Klinika Biologica. The UVG Forum was also part of the 4-day anniversary celebration.

30th Commencement Exercises

208 scholars received their dfiplomas under the Industrial Technician Program (ITP) during MFI’s 30th Commencement Exercises last October 21, 2015, held at the Tanghalang Pasigueno. Pasig City Mayor Maribel Eusebio and TESDA Pamamarisan Director Lourdes Villanueva graced what may be the last batch of ITP scholars with the impending Senior High School implementation in the next school year.


Partnerships MFI Foundation, Inc.’s EVP and COO Antonio M. Kosca Jr., together with the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) Director Silvino Tejada III, the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office IV-A (DA RFO IV-A) APCO Marie Cribe (on behalf of Regional Executive Director, Vilma Dimaculangan), and the Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU) of JalaJala Mayor Narciso Villaran, signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) last November 24, 2015 at the MFI Jalajala Campus, in the Promotion of Integrated Upland Conservation Guided Farms (IUCF), wherein the MFI Jalajala will serve as its techno demo farm venue. The MOA was attended by the Governor of Rizal, Rebecca A. Ynares; the City Vice Mayor of Jalajala, Elmer Pillas; Political Affairs Staff, Leony Marquez (on behalf of Senator Cynthia Villar); MFI Managers, staff and students and other Local Government Unit Officials. The establishment of an IUCF at MFI Jalajala aims to provide assistance to farmers and to demonstrate the appropriate soil and water technologies in sloping agricultural lands to prevent further land degradation, and promote soil and water conservation technologies for sustainable production. MFI served as the training venue to six batches (or a total of 120) of trainers and experts, which ran from September 7 to December 11, 2015 for the Trainers of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). MFI has been a training venue partner of the Technology Training Program of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in this program for 8 years.

MFI partnered with AF Payments Inc.--a joint venture of the Ayala and First Pacific groups that provides contactless payment solutions to the Filipino public to unify the Automated Fare Collection System of three rail transport lines (LRT1, LRT2, and MRT3)--in developing the Automated Fare Collection System: Introduction, Diagnosis, Troubleshooting, Corrective and Preventive Maintenance course, which ran from August to November 2015, and with 75 participants successfully completing the Phase I course.

40 participants of the Essential Electronics for Aviation course from the Philippine State College of Aeronautics received their certificates after successfully completing the program last October 7, 2015,


Uplift Movement Foundation Inc. partnered with MFI and Tan Yan Kee Foundation, which saw the awarding of its first batch of trainees in Electrical and Wiring Installation NCII last October 29, 2015.

Recognitions MFI was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by the Children International Philippines ;ast September 17, 2015, for its dependable partnership in support of the Into Employment Program’s goal to inspire, educate and provide a better future for students. Lunar Angelo Pajaroja, an IT lab assistant and Network Administration Technology alumni of MFI Foundation, Inc. took the 3rd spot in the Round 2 of the Cisco Networking Academy NetRiders Asia Pacific and Japan 2015 IT Essentials Competition held last October 1, 2015. A total of 64 participants from Asia Pacific countries, including Japan, competed in the ITE category. Pajaroja, was one of 5 participants from MFI who competed in the category.

Chairman and President, Dr. Jose S. Sandejas received the Plaque of Appreciation awarded by the TESDA Director General, Joel J. Villanueva on behalf of MFI at the Appreciation Lunch for Partners of TESDA NCR last October 9, 2015 at Club Filipino, San Juan. The award was given to MFI for its unwavering and invaluable support to TESDA’s programs and services.
