MEXICO - A film written and produced by several Mexico High School students will premier at the upcoming Kansas City Film Festival. The short film, entitled “Chad,” was the result of a two-week camp hosted by Presser Perorming Arts Center last summer. The camp is a young filmmakers workshop taught by Sam Dalton, an actor and instructor at Watkins College of Art and Design in Nashville, Tenn. “It is a romantic comedy with kind of a twisted angle,” explained MHS senior Sadie Frazier who has been part of the camp for the last four year. “This is definitely the best film that the film workshop has produced and we only had four returning people out of a total of nine,” said Frazier. Senior Abby Gooch has also been part of the camp for the last four years and she is not surprised. “I felt like it was a quality film, so I’m not surprised but I’m very excited!” The Kansas City Film Festival will be held April 16-19 at Cinemark on the Plaza. “Chad” will be screened at 3:40 p.m., Friday, April 17. MHS students involved in the project include Frazier, seniors Austin Pattillo, Abby Gooch, Scott Martin and Isaac Prior; sophomore Austin Sing and freshman Connor Frazier.
