T
he Snell Isle lot overlooking the Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort’s golf course was all that remained. Furnishings were gone, personal items packed and the former home demolished. Less than two years later, a custom residence designed for the previous occupants by LaBram Homes was completed, and an inviting interior décor envisioned by the principal and namesake, of Lisa Gilmore Design was ready. The transition to the more accommodating household had been anticipated and was well timed for the family’s recent addition of a second set of twins. “Designing a home from the ground up can be overwhelming,” acknowledged Lisa Gilmore. “When building a custom home you have to think about everything from the floor plan and overall look to the door hinges to flooring, lighting and countertops. We do this every day, so all of those elements that go into the building process are second nature to us.”

Maintaining constant communication between the homeowners and contractors and making certain everything was executed to perfection throughout the build out of the two-story, 5,500-squarefoot residence was the responsibility of Nicole Maldonado, senior designer at the St. Petersburg design firm. In addition to needing more living space, the parents wanted a light, airy and inviting interior they could enjoy indefinitely without needing to update or renovate any time soon. Working with a light color scheme as her foundation, LGDesign blended patterns, mixed in metals and combined vintage elements for vibrancy and elegance. The gilded dining room chandelier paired with cane back chairs adds Old World charm that blends well with the bold, modern faux marble pattern hand painted on the walls.
