Phoenix Rising Pavilion XXXV As the pandemic put a pause on many charitable events last year, one of Tampa Bay’s most exclusive galas, The Tampa Museum of Art’s Pavilion is planned with the theme of Phoenix Rising.

Art patrons and museum supporters will gather on November 6, 2021 for an incredible black tie evening of cocktails, dinner, dancing and auctions to benefit the Museum.

Pavilion XXXV co-chairs, Debra L. Williams and Allison Casper Adams, are current board members and have attended numerous Pavilions throughout the years. “It’s been 18 or 19 Pavilions and Patron parties to date,” said Debra L. Williams and Allison Casper Adams.

“Both of us also watched our parents attend in gowns and white tie, and tails, in the ‘80s and ‘90s!”

Both Williams and Adams are passionate about Tampa Bay and its growth on all levels.

“Cultural institutions that are accessible and welcoming to each and

every citizen are a vital part of any community,” said Williams and Casper.

A

hidden gem inside Tampa’s newest boutique hotel, Hotel Haya, is the chic restaurant, Flor Fina, inspired by Ybor City’s exuberant and diverse mix of Spanish, Italian and Cuban cultures. Virtually everything is made in-house from the pastas to pickled vegetables and meats like bacon and ham to custom bread. The menu offers coastal cuisine inspired by Latin America, the Mediterranean, and Florida’s Gulf Coast featuring fresh, local ingredients, shareable plates, and large format entrees on the custom-made oak-wood grill.

Flor Fina’s cocktails celebrates Ybor’s diverse cultural fabric and local ingredients including a house specialty, the Painkiller, served in a colorful ceramic peacock mug made with several rums,

coconut, pineapple, orange and lime. Be careful, they are so tasty, but are named Painkiller for a reason. The bar features an extensive rum collection with over 40 varieties from 17 countries including Venezuela, Guyana, Jamaica and Martinique. Cocktails are inspired by Cuban and pan-Latin ingredients such as green chilies, habanero peppers, cane juice, freshly juiced fruits and coconut water.

Several delicious items from the Tapas section were the Oxtail Croquettes atop roasted bone marrow and the Octopus Tostada with charred avocado, black beans topped with charred salsa. The three tostada’s are perfect for a light meal or sharing. The Brussells Sprouts with walnut cream and

pomegranate were crispy and delicious.

For a main entree, try the Grouper A Lo Macho with fiery seafood sauce with mussels and calamari. The sauce was flavorful and had a nice kick of heat. The Pappardelle Pasta with goat ragù and pecorino cheese was flavorful, as was the Sorrentino Ravioli filled with smoked ham, ricotta cheese, walnuts, crushed tomatoes pomodoro.

Be sure to save room for the decadent Quatro Leches Cake. A sponge cake soaked in dulce de leche topped with a bit of toffee brittle was a delightful finish to the meal. For private dining, the Roosevelt Room offers a sharing menu including the Porchetta Suckling Pig Feast — ideal for celebrating with family and friends. M

Blending Vibrancy With Elegance At A Custom Designed Snell Isle Home

T

he Snell Isle lot overlooking the Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort’s golf course was all that remained. Furnishings were gone, personal items packed and the former home demolished.

Less than two years later, a custom residence designed for the previous occupants by LaBram Homes was completed, and an inviting interior décor envisioned by the principal and namesake, of Lisa Gilmore Design was ready. The transition to the more accommodating household had been anticipated and was well timed for the family’s recent addition of a second set of twins.

“Designing a home from the ground up can be overwhelming,” acknowledged Lisa Gilmore. “When building a custom home you have to think about everything from the floor plan and overall look to the door hinges to flooring, lighting and countertops.

We do this every day, so all of those elements that go into the building process are second nature to us.”

Maintaining constant communication between the homeowners and contractors and making certain everything was executed to perfection throughout the build out of the two-story, 5,500-squarefoot residence was the responsibility of Nicole Maldonado, senior designer at the St. Petersburg design firm.

In addition to needing more living space, the parents wanted a light, airy and inviting interior they could enjoy indefinitely without needing to update or renovate any time soon.

Working with a light color scheme as her foundation, LGDesign blended patterns, mixed in metals and combined vintage elements for vibrancy and elegance. The gilded dining room chandelier paired with cane back chairs adds Old World charm that blends well with the bold, modern faux marble pattern hand painted on the walls.

and cement floor tiles displaying a dramatic graphic design were a hit with internet admirers who surprisingly labeled the look “feminine gothic.”

“I always encourage clients to get creative and make a little jewel box out of an intimate space like a secondary bathroom,” Gilmore said.

Marble installed on countertops and an island, plus hand painted terra cotta tiles mounted on the kitchen backsplash, combined organic elements with opulence within this centrally located space.

“We wanted to mix different tones and details for a look that is lived in and timeless. The tile creates a beautiful pop without being overbearing,” said Maldonado. “Using tone on tone, taupe, grey and off-white, we go from light to dark and medium, but not too much that sways from that color palette. When paired with the brass fixtures, sconces and faucets, it all flows so beautifully.”

Maintaining scale and context to keep the oversized breakfast nook from appearing cavernous, custom designed and fabricated millwork inspired by the kitchen cabinetry enhances the walls surrounding the seating and eating area.

Subtle, but striking, the framing eliminated the need for added color or distracting window treatments. The view of the backyard’s massive oak tree remains unobstructed. A table topped with a distressed finish deflects the wear and tear of day-to-day family use. And washable fabrics boasting an antelope print covering the seats of the cane back chairs keep the area stylish, and the furnishings suitable for siblings and adults.

“It’s all about bringing the desired design choices to life and making the process fun, not frustrating,” Gilmore explained. “We are the advocates who help ensure that things are completed on time, as planned, and if necessary, overcome any delays. Our goal is to always make it less stressful for the client.”

Dr. McGrogan created his practice for those patients that wish to have an expanded relationship with their primary care doctor. His practice provides patients with easier access to advanced treatments and technology, along with easy communication through mobile phone, text and email. For immediate appointments and longer visits to address health concerns, Dr. McGrogan provides expert health care.

Dr. McGrogan is a board certified Internal Medicine physician. He has more than twenty years of clinical experience. He received his B.S from the University of South Florida, M.D. from St. George’s University, and completed the Jacobi Hospital/Albert Einstein College of Medicine residency program in Internal Medicine.

Over the years the scope of practice has included primary care medical office, hospital, hospice facility and military medicine. He was deployed in 2018 with the Army Reserve to Camp Arifjan and treated soldiers at the US Military Hospital Kuwait. He was also mobilized to New Jersey April 2020 to treat patients hospitalized with COVID-19 Infection.

Residing in Tampa with his wife and three daughters, Dr. McGrogan’s interests include boating, fishing and hiking.

The office is accepting new patients and offers convenient and safe video visits. Located in South Tampa, next to Memorial Hospital of Tampa.

Most people say they hate going to the dentist. The Family Dentist -Dr. Ron O’Neal- makes every effort to change this perception for every individual that crosses our doors. His humor and caring bedside manner coupled with exceptional patient care have allowed him to help overcome this perception. He has enjoyed over 17 years of being a part of redefining patients smiles, with locations on both sides of the Bay. He is humbled to be entrusted with each of his patients dental health.

Dr. O’Neal has utilized his platform as a dentist to give back to his community, sitting on local charitable boards and volunteering many hours of his time. Community service has been at the foundation of our practices since the beginning.

About Dr O’Neal: Dr. O’Neal doesn’t always floss his teeth, but when he does he uses hair from the mane of a lion. He can make orange juice out of apples. His business card simply says, “I’ll call you!” It has never been his bad. He has won the lifetime achievement award – twice. He can start a fire using only dental floss and water. His organ donation list also includes his beard. Sharks have a week dedicated to him. He is the most interesting dentist in the world!
