Karamu XXV: Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo celebrated its annual black tie gala with event co-chairs Heidrun and Alan Divers and honorary chair Susan Lykes Mueller, along with 440 guests, to raise over $200,000 for the zoo. The Bwana patron’s party was held at the home of Tready and Thayer Smith. The Gala celebrated its silver anniversary with Magic of the Silver Screen theme and honoring past chairs on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. | LAMPLighter’s Lights, Fashion, Hope: It was a Passport to Summer Chic as guests and the LAMPLighters celebrated 27 years and honored longtime member, Bernadette Schurr. 2013 event chairs, Cheryl Adams, Kelly Breeding, Kim Rogers and Laine Walker hosted a fashionable evening of cocktails, gourmet tastings, caricatures, auctions and more. The silent auction was filled with great items and 100 percent of the proceeds help the homeless children at Metropolitan Ministries and Joshua House. | Heart Ball: The American Heart Association along with Heart Ball event chairs, Mark & Lori Watson greeted 400 guests and raised over $500,000 to ignite the passion to raise awareness, create compassion and understand the nation’s deadliest killer — heart disease. Recent past chairs in attendance included Bryan Glazer, Gene & Patsy McNichols and Karen & Gary Sasso. | Stepping Out Gala: A jewel of an evening was had by more than 500 guests who attended the St. Joseph’s Hospitals Foundation’s 20th Anniversary Stepping Out Gala, chaired by community leaders Carl and Lyda Lindell. The Emerald-themed evening, which doubled as an honor to retiring CEO Isaac Mallah (with a video tribute to his 36 years of service), raised approximately $175,000 for the Foundation.
