Salt therapy (Halotherapy) has been proved to be an alternative and natural treatment method for a large number of ailments in the recent past and is an ancient technique of treatment. The usage of salt cave alternative/natural therapy has been growing steadily. As every individual cannot afford to go to the natural salt caves and treat themselves, we have brought the Salt Caves to North Vancouver BC. Innovations and recent techniques in reproducing the natural environment of salt caves have made this possible. We have imported tones of Himalayan salt and built this unique and relaxing environment for you.
Salt Therapy is a natural therapeutic method based on speleotherapy, which is prolonged exposure to the specific microclimate of salt caves and salt mines. Salt aerosol plays an important role in the relief of health problems and is used for patients with respiratory disease. Salt therapy is 100% natural, safe and drug-free, providing effective long-term relief. It can be used as a complementary treatment to prescribed medications or a sole natural treatment.

Ambleside Park and the 15 block long West Vancouver Seawall are popular spots for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Whytecliff Park is regarded as one of the best scuba diving spots in Western Canada. The District also has many other small parks, as well as Lighthouse Park at Point Atkinson, which contains some old-growth forest and has with views of Vancouver from downtown to Point Grey and is the boundary-point between English Bay and the Strait of Georgia.
West Vancouver has several public recreation facilities including an 18-hole par 3 golf course, a pool, an ice rink, basketball and tennis courts, skateboard parks and numerous public parks. The new West Vancouver Community Centre (or WVCC) has been rebuilt and opened Spring 2009. West Vancouver is also home to Cypress Provincial Park with mountain biking trails and a large ski and snowboard facility, which served as one of the venues for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Ambleside lies on the waterfront and most of its shops line the streets of Bellevue and the main street of Marine Drive. There are lots of cafes, restaurants, clothing, boutique and specialty food stores. Walking through Ambleside is truly a treat and the beach is only a half block away. A great place to watch the Alaskan cruise ships sailing during summer and the carol ships during Christmas. Ambleside is the first community you encounter on Marine Drive just west of the Lions Gate Bridge. Visit the waterfront parks and the old ferry ticket office which used to sell tickets to pas-
sengers going to and coming from Vancouver before the bridge was built. Above Ambleside is the British Properties which was built by the CPR in the 1940s and the reason for building the bridge.

Ancora’s cuisine manifesto is hinged on sustainable seafood, while sourcing local and international ingredients, and draws inspiration from its Pacific Northwest surroundings. Understanding the city’s dining evolution has inspired Ancora to create a menu that accommodates all of its diners’ culinary desires, combining flavours and techniques which embrace several diverse cultures in a modern, yet approachable setting.
In envisioning the design and décor of Ancora Ambleside, Vancouver’s SmartDesign Group migrated the same coastalinspired, serene-yet-sophisticated style of the original location by using a palette of neutral colours and touches of light wood to embrace and reflect the warmth of the city’s waterfront. The design team also incorporated a theatre-like open kitchen and bar that invites guests to engage with the chef and sommelier teams and showcases the space’s sweeping panoramic views via high ceilings and windows.

Romantique Lingerie is West Vancouver’s finest lingerie and swimwear boutique, specializing in the world’s most elegant and luxurious name brands. It’s been owned and run by mother-daughter team Lin and Sasha Rockwell for over 25 years ago. They started it because they themselves had difficulty finding beautiful bras and lingerie that fit, and so they started Romantique Lingerie as a small corner within their women’s clothing store phoenix. It proved so successful that it’s since outgrown several locations, and has settled into one of the most picturesque settings near Ambleside Beach in West Vancouver. Romantique started in the corner of phoenix and we kept trying to keep it small. Now it’s outgrown the clothing store!
Fred’s Restaurant bills itself as both a modern Italian restaurant and a wine bar and is located just across the street from the beach at 1467 Bellevue Avenue.
Opened in early May, Fred’s offers hand-made pasta and “hearth-fired” pizza with a focus on family-style share plates.
Think smoked marinated olives, prosciutto e farinata, cacio e pepe, and chicory salads. The dishes here are ingredient-focused and uncomplicated, instead relying on Italian techniques and flavours in a new school way.

In the summer, if you get to the pier before 6:00 PM, you can see the cruise ships go by. They’re quite close, so you can make out a lot of details. Also, around 4:30 PM the Royal Hudson Steam Train chugs by. Kids love standing by the track and waving to the people on board. If your kids get bored John Lawson Park (west of pier) and Ambleside Beach (east of pier) are minutes away. What I like most of all though is at dusk when the dock lamps go on. The soft lights glimmer on the water, the air is warm, and you’re fishing--need I say more.www.findfamilyfun.com

Dundarave Village was once a sleepy residential outpost to Vancouver. Before the Lions Gate Bridge was built people would row over to their summer cottages. The word Dundarave comes from a Gaelic word having reference to a ‘two-oared boat’. The village was named in the early 1900’s after Dundarave Castle in Scotland, the ancestral home of the Macnaghten Clan, by Professor Russell Macnaghten, a Professor of Greek at the University of B.C.
Dundarave Village is an ideal place for children with its sandy beach and waterfront playground. The historic Dundarave pier and picturesque milelong seawall are enjoyed year round by both tourists and locals alike.

Hollyburn Ski Camp (1927 - 1945) “The Oscar Pearson Era” (L-R) Oscar Pearson and Buddy Barker with bear at the Hollyburn Ski Camp, June 17, 1928 (Buddy Barker aka Win Oliver collection, HHS archives)
Cabin building on Hollyburn Ridge became a popular pastime in the late 1920’s after the Hollyburn Ski Camp/Lodge opened in January, 1927. Typically, a group of young people would decide to build a cabin, look for a suitable site close to fresh water and building supplies in the form of flume boards or trees, and then go about building their ‘home on the Ridge’. Lacking skills, many learned through trial and error. Sharing knowledge gained from experience was quite common between cabin groups. In this way, a strong sense of community developed.
By 1931, over 200 cabins had been built which caused much concern in the District of West Vancouver. In 1932, Scotty Finlayson, with the approval of the cabin owners on the Ridge, was appointed Park Ranger by the district. Scotty approved sites for cabin building, selected the trees that could be used for construction, collected the annual fees for the leased lots, dealt with ‘domesticated’ bears, and patrolled creeks that supplied West Vancouver with water - all for a monthly salary of $25.00. So began the long and sometimes difficult relationship between the Hollyburn cabin owners and the District of West Vancouver.
In 1973, concerned about the future of their heritage cabins and a cherished way of life, cabin owners formed the Hollyburn Ridge Association. Its objectives were to:
1. Protect and preserve the Hollyburn cabin area;
2. Promote the recreational use and public access to the Hollyburn Ridge area;
3. Negotiate with all levels of government to encourage and promote the aims and objectives of the Hollyburn Ridge Association.
The Hollyburn Ridge Association’s policy of negotiation rather than confrontation has proved effective, and (for now at least), the threats to the viability of the cabin community have been allayed. While the cabins on Grouse and Seymour have now disappeared, Hollyburn has endured, the only community in the Lower Mainland to do so.
Catherine Rockandel, 2006 President of the Hollyburn Ridge Association, speculates on reasons. “Firstly, there were more of them to start with, there was amore active community, so they were more well maintained, and there was strong local and vocal leadership that advocated for their survival and continues to do so through the Hollyburn Ridge Association. . . You often see one community able to organize while another cannot. The biggest reason is the amount of social capital or trust, collaboration through volunteerism and organized community events, individual leadership, etc. Hollyburn was a community.”

The highway ends and ferry travel begins for those heading to Bowen Island, the Sunshine Coast and Nanaimo. Home to about 1,000 residents, Horseshoe Bay is actually part of a much larger municipality: the District of West Vancouver,
one of Canada’s wealthiest residential communities. Horseshoe Bay’s waterfront fixtures include a ferry terminal with berths for three large ships of the BC Ferries fleet, a marina, shops, restaurants, pubs, and a restful park and playground at the water’s edge. Recreation in the vicinity is more than abundant: boating, kayaking, scuba diving, whale watching, golf and skiing. Grab an ice cream and sit in the park or have lunch at Troll’s Restaurant where the fish and chips are legendary. Visit a First Nation’s Gallery or stay overnight at the local motel just a block from the water. Try our bakery, specialty stores, restaurants and more.

If you are coming by public transit catch the Horseshoe Bay bus Number 254 on Georgia Street in DOWNTOWN Vancouver in front of the BAY. If you want to get here quickly then catch the EXPRESS bus in the same place.

At Lighthouse Park there is a great hike out to Point Atkinson. The park is located still further along past Dundarave Village.
The drive out to Horseshoe Bay is a great drive along Marine Drive. You can visit Tiddley Cove and see Capilano Golf Course along the way. Horseshoe Bay is a must see! This favorite spot for Vancouverites is quaint and beautiful. Catch the ferry to Bowen Island if you have the time. Bowen Island is about a half hour by ferry from Horseshoe Bay. Bowen Island is a small island across from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver. It takes only 20 minutes to get there by ferry. Around Snug Cove is a 600 acre park called Crippen Park, so there’s a lot to explore. A nice easy walk is to the pretty
Bridal Veil Falls and fish ladder (about 10 minutes), or on to Killarney Lake about a 45 minute walk from Snug Cove. About three thousand artists, daily commuters, writers and happy retirees live on Bowen’s 52 sq. kilometers. The ferry pulls into aptly named Snug Harbour, with its historic Union Steamship Company store, its Regional Park information site, and its commercial centre. Stroll the harbour and see artisans in summer. The Pier has good eateries as well.
Welcome to Doc’s Restaurant & Pub. We are located on Bowen Island, a short distance from Vancouver in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. Bowen Island has a long history as a holiday resort destination.
A name closely associated with that history is the Union Steamship Company of British Columbia. In the early 1900’s holiday excursionists boarded luxury passenger ships headed for the ‘Happy Isle.’ Their day could be spent at large company picnics, walking the trails around Deep Bay or Killarney Lake or taking a dip in the cool clear waters of Howe Sound. The evenings could be spent dancing at the Dance Pavilion or just enjoying the company of friends. Some stayed the weekend in one of nearly 200 cottages owned by the Union Steamship Company. You can capture a bit of the magic of times past with a visit to our quaint resort.
You can walk the same trails that have been traveled for almost a century, or sleep in one of two original Union Steamship cabins.
A visit to Doc Morgan’s Restaurant & Pub will give you a taste of the history of the island.
In the first half of the 20th century, life on Bowen was dominated by a resort operated by the Terminal Steamship Company (1900 - 1920) and the Union Steamship Company (1920 - 1962). These companies provided steamer sevice to Vancouver, and the Horseshoe Bay - Bowen Island Ferry began in 1921. When the Union Steamship resort closed in the 1960s the island returned to a quiet period of slow growth. In the 1940s and 1950s, the artists’ colony called Lieben[6] was a retreat for many famous Canadian authors, artists, and intellectuals including Earle Birney, Alice Munro, Dorothy Livesay, Margaret Laurence, A.J.M. Smith, Jack Shadbolt, Eric Nicol and Malcolm Lowry, who finished his last book, October Ferry to Gabriola, there. It is now a National Historic Site of Canada. In the 1980s, real estate pressures in Vancouver accelerated growth on Bowen and currently the local economy is largely dependent on commuters who work on the mainland in Greater Vancouver. Prior to becoming a municipality, Bowen Island was part of the Sunshine Coast Regional District, made up of small communities and municipalities. However, in the 1980s the island transferred to the Greater Vancouver Regional District after a campaign organized by developers and realtors. A campaign to make the island an autonomous municipality was successful after two referendum attempts.
The Island has several small businesses including marinas, cafes, gift shops, grocery stores, a pharmacy, restaurants, garden and flower shops, a building supply shop and a Chamber of Commerce. In June 2007, First Credit Union, a full-service bank, opened its doors in Snug Cove. There is also a North Shore Credit Union automated banking machine. Groceries are available at the Snug Cove General Store and the Ruddy Potato Whole Foods Market. Shops are concentrated around Snug Cove and, further into the island, Artisan Square. There are also several restaurants, including The Snug, Miksa, and Tuscany. Bowen Island has a high proportion of artists and artisans, and the Bowen Island Pub on Trunk Road regularly features live music. There is also a 2,746 metre (3,003 yard) 130 Slope rated 9-hole golf course.
Rent a kayak and paddle around Snug Cove or venture around the island. Bowen Island Sea Kayaking, on the ferry dock at Snug Cove, 604-947-9266 (info@bowenislandkayaking.com)
Nestled at the base of the Coast Mountain Range is the small seaside village of Lions Bay, located on the shoreline of Howe Sound on Highway 99, the Sea to Sky Highway. Surrounded by majestic mountains, with spectacular views of the ocean and the Gulf Islands, Lions Bay offers dozens of mountain hiking trails, sandy
beaches at Porteau Cove, several golf courses north of Lions Bay, and worldclass skiing at Whistler Blackcomb. Once a cottage community for Vancouver residents, the community of Lions Bay has numerous writers, artists and musicians, and offers visitors a marina, a small cafe, a general store, and an art gallery. Favourite Gifts I was looking for a particular shirt so started calling around. The store was closed so I sent a PM, Rodion got back to me first thing the next am. He had exactly what I wanted and was happy to hold the shirt until I was able to get there the next day.
Rodion is a gem, even nicer in person (didn’t think it was possible). Such a happy, pleasant person who made me so happy! I’ll be going back to the store tomorrow to ask Rodion to help me find a birthday gift. Can’t wait, I know it will be another fantastic and easy shopping experience!!!
JOY hair studio is the first salon created with a purely philanthropic intent. Since changing ownership in 2014, the mission continues! Profits are shared with many charities and donations given to local fundraising initiatives. The team also provides complimentary services at many North Vancouver elementary school fairs, plans their own charitable events and donates products and services to those in need.
Co-Owners, Tara Main and Savannah Falk have been styling hair on the North Shore (combined) for 40+ years. Together they have proven to be industry leaders, attracting the best in talent when it comes to their team members and navigating business with success thorough some very challenging times.
The JOY team is extremely globally focused, choosing to sell all locally manufactured and/or natural products and to be a Green Circle Salon (which makes it possible to recycle almost 100% of the salon waste including foils, chemicals, organics and all paper/plastic). The hair gathered is sent to the Alouette Correctional Centre in Maple Ridge, where the women construct “hair mats” used to clean up oil spills.
JOY is the salon in which you can leave feeling as great as you look, knowing you are assisting in our efforts to make the World a happier and healthier place. We welcome new clients to spend some time with us!

The idea of Caposhie came about when Howard and his wife expressed their frustration with the retail options available to couple during this next phase of their lives, becoming all to familiar with the phrase “I am not my mother!” They weren’t ready to start shopping at the “Talbots” of the world but they couldn’t quite fit into the likes of the “Aritzia” type retail spots. After countless meetings and a focus group filled with like minded boomers, the duo realized that boomers today are redefining “middle age”. They quickly decided to acknowledge this powerful and changing consumer group.

Grouse Mountain is one of the North Shore Mountains of the Pacific Ranges in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Exceeding 1,200 m (4,000 feet) in altitude at its peak, is the site of an alpine ski area in the winter season overlooking Greater Vancouver with four chairlifts facilitating 26 runs. In the summer, the mountain features lumberjack shows and a 2.9 km (1.8 mi.) hiking trail known as the Grouse Grind. Year-round operations include a 100-seat mountaintop theatre and a wildlife refuge. Public access to the mountain top is by a Swiss Garaventa aerial tramway, or the Grouse Grind hiking trail.
The above photo shows Grouse Mountain from Lonsdale Avenue in the Upper Lonsdale neighbourhood. The clear patch at the top is known as the cut and has been for decades the favorite run on Grouse for multitudes of Vancouver skiers.
Fourteenth Avenue and Lonsdale is a very active corner. Across from the TD Canada Trust is the civic centre and library. Going east on fourteenth avenue brings you to several interesting stores. Try Casa Nova for fine coffee, Better Bakes n Eats for wonderful baked bread and Mother’s Smoothies and Juice Bar, alittle further along. There is a good butcher/meat market located there as well. IQ Dental, Dr. Terry McKay is located here upstairs. Back on the opposite corner of Lonsdale you might have a look at Ocean Wellness, located upstairs.
The band program at Handsworth was started by Mildred Twiss in the 1960s. Then, Joe Berarducci taught music at Handsworth from about September 1969 to June 1971. Brian G’Froerer joined Joe in 1970. Bob Rankin arrived in 1971 when Joe went on leave. When Brian left to join the Vancouver Symphony french horn section in 1974, Joe Berarducci returned to the school and taught alongside Bob Rankin. Bob taught music at Handsworth from September 1971 to June 1975 when he was appointed District Coordinator of Music. In those four years the Handsworth music program increased greatly. David McConchie was band director in the ‘75 – 76 school year. In ‘76 Bob Rebagliati took over the program and built it up into a power house band program until he retired in 2004. In 1994 Peter van Ooyen joined the team as Director of Orchestras. Peter remained through 2010. Keith Woodward worked with Bob for 20 years and remained for another 10 after Bob retired. David Bradshaw took over from Keith and runs the program to this day.
Two books have been compiled on the Handsworth Music program and they are available at: www.warfleetpress.com See page 116 in this guide.
When Bob Rebagliati took over the program in September 1976 he built it into a championship program through 2004. One of the first things Bob did was establish a Parent’s Committee BPAC. Pat Nicholson was the Chair. Her sons Bruce and Neil were both in the band. Bruce Nicholson has gone on to be a fine bass trombone player in Big Bands around Vancouver. Bob continued a senior jazz band and started a junior jazz band. He also ran guitar classes and a vocal jazz group. In the 1978-9 school year Bob’s concert band with only 27 players placed first in the Kiwanis Festival. “When you only have 27 members everyone has to play like a soloist. There is no place to hide. They were great kids,” Bob told me. Bob borrowed a catch phrase from a mentor in Kelowna KSS, Brian Todd: EXCELLENCE DEMANDS DEDICATION! Bob always strived for a culture of excellence.
In 1979 his senior jazz band took first place at the New West Jazz Festival and then he took them to the Nationals in Vancouver where they got a special award for excellence. It was a small big band with only 13 players but they were all stars!
Renee Rosnes, Norm Fischer, Terry Madsen, Tom Colclough. Good improvisers! Bob has a recording of that band. He started recording his bands on a regular basis starting in 1981. Over the 28 years Bob spent at Handsworth his bands made many trips including to: Whitehorse, the Saskatoon International Band Festival. [At the Saskatoon Festival Lynn Skinner one of the judges came up to him and invited his band to be guests at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in Idaho the coming year. Bob knew half the band would be graduating so unfortunately they didn’t make the gig.] Excerpts from Book 1 on the Handsworth Music Program now available.

It is affectionately referred to as ‘the cove’ by the locals. Located at the foot of Mount Seymour, the cove faces due east, fronting on to Indian Arm, itself a branch of Burrard Inlet, which forms Vancouver’s inner harbour. The area is the
traditional territory of the Tsleil-Waututh and Sḵwxwú7mesh, the indigenous, of the Coast Salish First Nations. Deep Cove is 13 kilometres (8 miles) from downtown Vancouver. Poet and novelist Malcolm Lowry and his wife Margerie lived on and off in a squatters shack from 1940 to 1954 here in what is now Cates Park. Lowry won the Governor General’s Award for his novel Under the Volcano.
Take a ride over on the seabus from Downtown Vancouver to the Lonsdale Quay. Spend an afternoon at the market and browse the boutiques and eateries.
Stroll up Lower Lonsdale Avenue and visit the shops on Lonsdale and the side streets. See the new development taking place alongside heritage buildings which are well preserved. Hop on a bus up to Upper Lonsdale. Stroll more shops and visit the eateries. Be sure to look behind you at the view of Vancouver and the harbour. Grouse Mountain is not far away and you can take the gondola up to the top for the most scenic vista available in the lower mainland. In winter you can go skiing.
To the east is Seymour Mountain. You can drive up Seymour and see more great views. These mountains have remained virtually untouched since time immortal.
Be sure not to miss the Capilano Suspension Bridge, Vancouver’s oldest tourist attraction built in 1889. Watch First Nations carvers at work and walk the bridge for a truly westcoast experience.
Visit the Capilano Fish Hatchery designed to restore the dwindling stocks of Coho salmon and Steelhead trout. The Hatchery produces over 1 million Coho, up to 2.5 million Chinook and 10,000-20,000 Steelhead every year.
After crossing the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge, experience a magnificent Rain Forest Walk in Capilano Canyon with captivating views of the Canyon below.
If you like shopping in big malls, Capilano Mall is located west of Lonsdale on Marine Drive. If the mall alone is not large enough for you, there is a Walmart attached. One of the nicest places to visit in the summer on the north shore is Deep Cove. This picturesque waterway nestled in by the mountains has lots of parks to sit and eat a lunch and enjoy the view.
Try kayaking!
Indian Arm is a salt-water fjord that extends about 20 km (12 mi) north from Burrard Inlet. There are no crossings, and road access is limited to the communities on the southern portion of the arm. The steep mountain slopes are so impassable that most have seen no development, despite the proximity to a major city. Indian River, marked by a small dock at the north end of the arm, can be reached by boat from Deep Cove or by a logging road from Squamish.

Brentwood Town Centre (most often referred to as Brentwood Mall) is a shopping mall in Burnaby, British Columbia. It is located in North Burnaby, at the intersection of Willingdon Avenue and the Lougheed Highway, approximately 1.5 kilometres from Vancouver city limits. Its characteristic white domes and peaks were designed to imitate the snow-capped North Shore Mountains in the background. A short walk west is Madison Centre where there is a Save On Foods, Shark Club, Winners, a Cactus Club and a Staples located back out on the street. Brentwood is undergoing redevelopment and when completed will look like this below. Lots to see!

runs along Hastings Street from Willingdon to Boundary and is home to a unique and varied collection of businesses. There are several great bakeries and deli’s, a great musical instrument store that still repairs instruments. A Safeway and lots of small stores to keep you busy. Why choose compounds over comercially available products? Imagine if your child needs to take medication, but is disgusted with the taste of the large pill. She spits it onto the floor. You toss the dirty pill into the garbage and try again with another pill. The same instance occurs. Was part of the pill absorbed? What do you do now? What if the pill was flavoured and smaller? Imagine how easy it would be for your kid to swallow kid-sized pills. The medicine stays in, they enjoy the taste and you wll not have wasted any of the pills!
Medications are often difficult for a variety of patients to take.Think outside of children: people afraid of needles, the elderly, those with allergies, and even our furry friends at home! Medications on the market can be filled with ingredients causing the patient to reject the medication. Our compounding is accessible for your needs, and can modify medications by extracting certain products like gluten sugar, soy, casein and even dyes. in addition we are able to customize dosages, forms, as well as strengths, so that medications can be taken as both prescribing doctor and patient see fit!

At Wink Optometry, the goal is to not only have our clients find the perfect frame, but to come out actually knowing what they purchased. A lot of the time, consumers will be pushed into making a purchase they don’t fully understand but because of fancy lingo and a convincing sales person, they buy things without knowing what it really was. At Wink it’s all about helping our clients make educated purchases so they know what they’re buying and why they’re spending their money – and of course to make sure the client comes out with a snazzy new look. Everything starts with understanding the eyes and how they function as a whole so Dr. Natasha will explain what’s going on with patients’ prescriptions and go through preventative measures to ensure that all the eyes that come through Wink will see for many years to come.
We don’t call ourselves the Family Dental Centre without good reason! At Kensington Square Dental, we believe that a child should establish a dental home no later than at one year old. This will allow our dentists to check on the progress of their emerging baby teeth as well as establish proper oral hygiene habits so that hopefully your child can have a cavity-free childhood. Dr. Ivan Jin has been practising in Burnaby for the past 10 years.
UniverCity is a sustainable urban community for 10,000 people on Burnaby Mountain, within walking distance to Simon Fraser University. The SFU Community Trust (the Trust) has two primary goals in developing the UniverCity community: to create a more “complete community” on the mountain, with a diverse range of housing choices, shops, services and amenities; and to establish an Endowment Fund to support teaching and research at SFU. Come visit this
community at SFU and enjoy the amenities it has to offer. UniverCity is located to the east past the parking lots or almost across from where the SFU bus depot is located. If you have never been up here you will be in for quite a surprize. Take the Millenium Line skytrain to Production Way - University station.
Once the site of an isolated commuter campus, the Burnaby mountaintop is now home to a complete community, where many residents walk, cycle, or take transit to work, where they can find care and schooling for their children, entertainment and continuing education for themselves, and where they enjoy doorstep access to one of the largest and most beautiful protected wilderness areas in the Metro Vancouver Region.
More than 3,500 residents now live in UniverCity, and will ultimately be home to more than 10,000 people.
Our Neighbourhoods:
East Highlands
The first neighbourhood developed at UniverCity is located on the east side of Burnaby Mountain. Designed for beauty, accessibility and convenience, all residences are an easy walking distance to SFU, to transit and to the shops and services on University High Street. This neighbourhood also features University Highlands Elementary School, a LEED® Gold designed school that provides space for 275 students.
University High Street
University High Street is a hub of activity, with a bustling public plaza and convenient access to shopping, restaurants, and services. Linked by pedestrian pathways, this village-style block contains residences and over 25 local stores and (continued on page 108)
University High Street provides a full range of stores and services. Among 26 commercial and retail outlets, there are coffee shops, a bank, two licensed restaurants, a 23,000-square-foot, full-service grocery store, a dental office, an organic deli, SFU Pocket Farmers’ Market and a pharmacy. And as the community grows, additional retail space will be added to ensure UniverCity residents will always be able to meet their daily needs without leaving Burnaby Mountain.

services, everything from coffee shops, a bank, and restaurants, to a 23,000square-foot, full-service grocery store, an organic deli, a hair stylist, and a pharmacy. Each new building on High Street will offer new services and amenities, providing the daily needs of residents, students, and visitors without having to step foot off Burnaby Mountain.
Nestled among the trees, trails, and streams of Burnaby Mountain, West Highlands will offer dramatic views of Burrard Inlet and the North Shore mountains, while offering the convenience of nearby University High Street shops and services, transit, and proximity to SFU.
The South Slopes neighbourhood is designed as a terraced hillside community, featuring low-rise, predominantly wood-frame homes for families. The slope and terraced design will take full advantage of views from southern Vancouver Island to Mount Baker in Washington State.
Although planning for the South Neighbourhood is a few years away, preliminary designs anticipate a mix of university and residential uses, including possibilities for a second elementary school, another childcare facility, and an employment centre, all integrated with the existing community and campus.

BOOK * BIOGRAPHY
The Faye and Dean Leung Story!
How they changed the faces of Canada
Dean and Faye Leung were pioneers in blending the Chinese society with the Caucasian society in Vancouver during the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. They both fought the decades old discrimination in Canada against the Chinese and other minorities.
Together, they accomplished many things in the fields of banking, housing, education and probably most importantly in the field of immigtration category reform. If you are from an immigrant family who came to Canada after 1967, chances are you are here because of Faye Leung. It can probably be said that Canada is multicultural today because of the efforts of Faye Leung.
Faye was also a pioneer in establishing economic ties between Canada and China starting back in 1980, through to today, when China began to open its doors after
the Cutlural Revolution. She was the first Canadian businesswoman to be invited to China by Deng Xiaoping’s government.
The last chapter in her biography is an overview of the Fantasy Gardens boondoggle which saw the first premier in Commonwealth history forced to resign due to his own corruption. Faye is beaten up and smeared by the premier’s lawyers, then the media and made the scapegoat to keep the premier out of jail. A more in-depth look at this entire affair can be read in this book.

The Ghosts of Chinatown
INVESTMENT: $1 Million
INVESTORS NEEDED: 400
ABOUT: This is an opportunity for small investors to get involved for the first time in a Johnny Depp movie. Ten of Johnny Depp’s mov ies have either grossed over $1 Billion worldwide or grossed above $500 Million.
CONDITIONS: No money will exchange hands until a producer is on board (Ron Howard) the lead actors all signed (Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep and Sandra Oh) and a studio on board that has a distributor and can guarantee theatrical release (Disney).
RETURN: This budget covers Production $100 Million, Distribution $100 Million, Marketing $100 Million and Actor’s Residuals (cash amount the leads receive after production) $100 Million. Because we are raising the entire cost, this group will be first in line to receive compensation.
THE TRANSACTION: Once we have the investment needed, a Literary Agent in London, England will be engaged to handle all aspects of the transaction; getting a producer on board, the producer getting the ac tors on board and the studio. The producer will assemble his team, set a schedule and a budget and work will begin on a script.
SYNOPSIS: Faye Leung finds herself on Pender Street in front of the newly opened Chinatown Storytelling Centre. She sees visions of people she used to know going into the various businesses and they see her but say nothing. Unknowingly, she has stumbled into a parallel dimension called Ghost World. It is only for ghosts. The Office has sent down a good wizard (Meryl Streep) to rally the ghosts of Chinatown for an attack on City Hall to get the City to give Chinatown protected heritage status so it won’t disappear. The Mayor wants to sell off the buildings to developers. To read more go to our website: www.warfleetpress.com.
