Bringing the magic of film into city schools Arts education. Since 2002, the Tribeca Film Institute has been nurturing the next generation of ďŹ lmmakers. Anyone who has been following the state of arts education in schools today knows that one thing is true: Funding for creative programs in schools is constantly under threat. Since 2002, the Tribeca Film Institute has been working with schools across the country to develop the next generation of young filmmakers. The stars of tomorrow Since its founding, the Tribeca Film Institute has created several programs to grow creative talent. About 25,000 students annually attend the programs, which include: •
Tribeca Youth Screening Series: A ďŹ lm series that helps expose New York City students to

Summer Arts Institute: A tuition-free summer-intensive program that allows students to major in artistic disciplines including dance, ďŹ lm, theater and photography.
her work with the Institute. “To see kids come out of it and use ‘Tribeca’ as a noun or an adjective. ‌ They’ll say, ‘Oh, I did Tribeca,’ or ‘Are you Tribeca-ing this year.’ And it’s just — how did that happen?â€? she asked with a laugh.
Since the Institute began 12 years ago, Rosenthal has become a passionate advocate of encouraging creativity in schools. “Art programs have been slashed, that’s the first thing to go,â€? she notes. “And after that it’s sports programs. Every kid needs a break where you can express yourself in different ways.â€? The star producer also sees bigger and better things for the Institute. “I would like the program to be in every one of New York City’s public schools.
