Lead Actress, Play: Although “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill” offers the songs of Billie Holiday, it’s designated as a play. This means star Audra McDonald will have a shot at winning in all four acting categories, making her one of only five thespians who have done so. As her sixth Tony Award, this would also posit her as the record-holding female for the most Tony Awards of all time (surpassing Angela Lansbury and Julie Harris).
