To comply with privacy expectations, we may change the names of many of our children or adjust pictures in the magazine to protect their privacy. We appreciate your support and understanding.

Blessed be the LORD! For he has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy. The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to Him.

~ Psalm 28: 6-7 (ESV)

As our girls evacuated from our campus in Valdosta for Hurricane Helene, we prayed for God’s protection and provision. I can testify… GOD surely heard our plea and delivered the help we needed. Humbly and gratefully, we give thanks and glory to God Almighty!

Once I knew our kids and staff were safe, my thoughts turned to the massive amount of physical damage wrought by this great storm. We had huge trees on the roofs, which penetrated through the ceilings and sides of the buildings. Others fell on the pump house and the fairly new generator. Stunned and a bit scared about how we would recover, I felt a sense of calm overtake my soul. These are just “bricks and sticks.” God is our strength and shield. He protected us and HE WILL PROVIDE for us.

Within a few hours of seeing the immense damage, the United Methodist Committee on Relief in South Georgia responded, “The Methodist Home is FIRST on our list!” Teams from Columbus were already in route! The bigger beauty of the family of God shone like the morning sun as these relief teams included people from Global Methodist Churches, Independent Methodist Churches, United Methodist Churches and other denominations! The people of God responding to help the children of God. Thanks be to GOD!

Those who could not help physically made gifts to support our recovery. Others made sure our girls were safe and had all they needed while they were displaced. Thankfully, power and water were restored within a week, and even though we have to replace roofs and clean up debris, the girls were able to come back home.

So, while we continue to be prayerful for all who also experienced loss, we are grateful God prepared and sent so many talented, loving, skilled and generous people to help! I give thanks to HIM and to each of them for serving our children so faithfully.

Warmly,

The Methodist Home

PS: Our recovery work and expenses continue, so if you would like to make an extra special gift this year to help our children, please go online to www.TheMethodistHome.org or use the envelope in the center of this magazine.

Faithful Hearts Rebuild Valdosta Campus

In late September, Hurricane Helene made its mark on Georgia, and The Methodist Home’s Valdosta campus was directly in its path. Our preparations began days in advance, but no one could have fully predicted the damage the storm would bring. On September 27, 2024, we received word our Valdosta campus had sustained significant damage, particularly to our office and cottage buildings, as well as our generator. Thankfully, the girls residing on campus were safely relocated before the storm hit.

Our hearts were heavy as we assessed the damage, but we knew help was on the way! The United Methodist Church Emergency Response Team, along with volunteers from Pierce Chapel Global Methodist Church, Midland Church, Beulah Bible Church, and many others, mobilized quickly. These selfless individuals worked tirelessly to clear fallen trees, tarp the roofs, and began the long process to recovery.

Despite the damage, our spirits were lifted by the overwhelming support of our community. The words of Ephesians 3:20-21, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think,” became our rallying cry. Volunteers from Hurtsboro, Alabama and other places arrived with heavy equipment to assist in debris removal, and with their help, we began to see real progress. Power and water were restored to the campus on October 5, a big step forward! While our Valdosta campus was being repaired, our girls found temporary refuge in Macon, where they were warmly welcomed and even treated to a special shopping trip since most of their belongings still remained in Valdosta. The staff, despite facing personal challenges from the storm, remained steadfast in their dedication to the children in our care.

On October 16, 2024, the girls returned home to Valdosta! With the insurance deductible covered and enough funds raised to replace roofs and repair other stormrelated damages, we are well on our way to a full recovery. The outpouring of prayers, donations, and physical assistance from our community and beyond has been nothing short of miraculous.

Our buildings and generator sustained significant damage by Hurricane Helene.

Midland Church shared, “The time we spent in Valdosta strengthened our ties with The Methodist Home and renewed our commitment to the children that God has placed before us to serve and protect.”

We are deeply thankful for every individual who came to our aid. From the emergency responders, to the kind donors who helped us meet our $25,000 insurance deductible, your contributions have been invaluable. We give all glory to God for the incredible community He has surrounded us with and for seeing us through this challenging time.

While our journey is not yet over, we are grateful to know we have YOUR love and support. With your continued prayers and assistance, the girls and staff returned to a safe, loving environment where they can heal, grow, and thrive once again.

To all who have prayed, donated, or lent a helping hand—THANK YOU. You have truly been the hands and feet of Christ during this time.

Homecoming & Alumni Day

In August, our Macon campus was filled with joy and nostalgia as alumni came together to celebrate another annual homecoming. It was a delightful afternoon of reconnecting and reminiscing, including a delicious lunch and delectable ice cream sundaes that added a sweet touch to the day.

We took a moment to honor and remember the alumni, family members, and friends we have lost over the past year. Surrounded by shared stories and the soft glow of candles, their memory was lovingly kept alive by all in attendance.

The reunion was a heartwarming occasion, offering an opportunity for many to reflect on

treasured moments from the past, we also enjoyed hearing updates on the lives our alumni have built since their time at The Methodist

It was a truly special experience to reconnect with such a remarkable group of individuals, celebrating not only their past accomplishments, but also their ongoing contributions and support of our organization and mission.

We are profoundly grateful for the continued engagement of our alumni community; whose presence and support enrich our collective journey and strengthens the heart of The Methodist Home.

A Blooming Future: Dyasia’s Story

The first thing you notice about Dyasia is her bright and bubbly personality. It is no surprise with her warmth and positivity, she was chosen to serve as president of her middle school’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) club. Dyasia never thought she would be passionate about agriculture. Yet, the moment she stepped into her first FFA class, she loved it.

Through FFA, Dyasia has found a new love for agriculture and all it entails, including learning about cutting-edge technology in farming, veterinary science, and equipment handling. But what brings her the most joy is tending to plants and working with animals. Dyasia has always loved gardening and her favorite flowers, orchids, hold a special place in her heart. She once grew sunflowers and she beamed when talking about how beautiful they were. There is something about the beauty of plants and flowers that absolutely captivates Dyasia.

Despite her natural enthusiasm, Dyasia has had to face challenges along the way. Leading her fellow classmates as the club’s president has not come easily because she can feel shy at times. Standing in front of a room full of people and leading meetings were all new

and nerve-racking experiences for her. However, Dyasia embraced the challenge. She recognizes her leadership and communication skills are growing by the day.

Dyasia only entered foster care earlier this year. At first, the idea of living in a group home was worrisome, but her fears quickly faded. Surrounded by new friends and supportive staff, Dyasia realized living in this community was far better than she imagined. It has become a place of comfort and growth. “Having a community of people has been such an advantage during this time,” Dyasia shared. She’s made close friends and gotten to know her peers.

As she looks ahead to the future, Dyasia dreams of continuing her FFA leadership journey. She has already set her sights on becoming the president of the high school FFA club when she transitions next year. Dyasia’s journey is just beginning, but the foundation she is building through her love of agriculture, her leadership in FFA, and the friendships she has formed will serve her for years to come. With her growing confidence and the support of her community, there is no doubt she will continue to blossom, just like the orchids and sunflowers she loves so much.

Meet Leanna Meet Leanna

Kind, friendly, silly, and “a very goofy person” is how Leanna describes herself. From the moment you meet Leanna you can see how brightly her personality shines. However, she was not always so outgoing. “I was very shy when I came to The Methodist Home and was afraid of talking to people,” Leanna shared. Nowadays, you can expect Leanna to greet you with a big smile and a warm hug.

When Leanna first arrived at The Home she had a hard time acclimating. More than anything she just wanted to go home. She was overwhelmed by her emotions and could not comprehend how she had ended up where she was now. Like most kids, she reacted the only way she knew how, she acted out and misbehaved. With time, guidance, and care Leanna realized she was not alone in her struggles. She had the support of her peers and staff.

Something else that helped Leanna through the difficult times in her life and continues to aid her even now is her faith. Leanna has been going to church since she was a baby and has always believed in God.

“Something I’ll never forget is when I was in family foster care for the first time at my grandma’s house and my mom would come over. She would sit by my bed and recite our nightly prayer. ‘Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. His love be with me through the night, and wake me with the morning light. And if I die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take. In Jesus’ name. Amen.’ I used to say that every night. My mom used to read us stories from the Bible, like Noah’s Ark. Knowing God has really helped me,” Leanna shared.

Despite things not working out at home, God led Leanna to The Methodist Home. She is still close to her family and is especially grateful to have her sister,

Leanna enjoyed serving at our Dinner and a Show event earlier this year!

Brehanna with her on our campus. For over a year, Leanna has called this place her home. She likes to read and go on walks. Leanna also enjoys writing, “whenever things get hard I write about the things I’m struggling with and later reflect on it. It helps me gain perspective and see how much I’m growing.” While some of Leanna’s circumstances remain the same, she has changed. Where her troubles used to bring her down, she now stands tall and faces her issues head on. “I have a saying I live by, ‘face your fears before your fears face you’,” she shared.

Leanna is looking forward to getting a job and is excited at the possibility of earning money. In the past, Leanna has worked events here at The Home and has always enjoyed her experience. She is also working hard to keep her grades up and hopes to join an afterschool sport or club.

“The Home has been there for me. They support me when I need help. The Methodist Home gives you everything a kid could wish for,” Leanna shared. It is a privilege to be able to care for and serve Leanna and her sister, Brehanna, in a time when they need it most. We are eager to see how both girls continue to change and grow, becoming bright, responsible young ladies. God bless these sisters both as they continue on their journey!

Leanna loves her sister, Brehanna, and is grateful they are together at The Methodist Home!

Evelyn has been at South Georgia Technical College for two semesters working towards becoming a welder. She never thought she would go to college, much less choose welding as a career. However, she surprised herself. “I just took a chance and I loved it immediately. It gets my adrenaline going and more so it makes me feel empowered,” she shared. Evelyn is one of four female welders in her class currently. Welding is traditionally a male-led industry, but Evelyn is a part of the growing generation of women in welding.

We were so incredibly proud of Evelyn earlier this year when she made it onto the President’s List for Summer Semester 2024 for her outstanding academic performance! Her hard work made her eligible for a scholarship from the school itself. Evelyn credits her teachers for her achievement. “I love my instructors. They are really nice, good people. They have helped me so much,” she shared. Evelyn is also grateful for The Methodist Home and our Independent Living Program, which really helped prepare her for college life and gave her the structure she needed and continues to use today.

Evelyn was at The Methodist Home for six years before graduating. “When I first got there, I thought it was bad. I did not like all the rules. However, as I got older, I realized

Evelyn’s Path to College and a Brighter Future

the rules were for our safety. The Home was doing what was best for us all. I appreciate it more now. The Methodist Home has done a lot for me and continues to do so,” she shared.

At first, Evelyn was not going to continue school after she completed high school. As she thought more and more about it, she realized she had this amazing opportunity. “My older sister did not get this opportunity nor did my other family members. I wanted to break the generational chains tied to my family and be the first one to go to college,” she shared. Once Evelyn is finished with school and working in her field she plans to be generous in her giving. She just wants to be able to take care of her family, especially her sisters. Kaylee, Evelyn’s younger sister, is still in our care. Evelyn is very much looking forward to spending time with her and coming back to our Macon campus during her school breaks. Our hearts are full knowing our mission is helping youth and young adults like Evelyn and her sister!

Evelyn demonstrated some of her welding skills for us! How cool!

Driving Toward Her Dreams!

Alejandra was excited to begin her first semester in college earlier this fall. Prior to the start of classes, she knew there was a significant challenge she would face, the need for reliable transportation to commute to and from her classes. Without it, pursuing her goal of higher education would be difficult.

Fortunately, thanks to the incredible generosity of a special donor family she was able to purchase a vehicle that would ensure she could drive to her college classes with ease and confidence. This gift was more than just a means to get from one place to another. It is a beautiful symbol of support and belief that Alejandra’s dreams were worth investing in.

Celebrating Generations of Love at Eagle's Nest!

Grandparent’s Day is always a special occasion for the kids at Eagle’s Nest Children’s Center! The love and joy shared between the children and their grandparents are evident in every warm embrace and smile. Witnessing these connections serves as a beautiful reminder of the powerful role family plays in shaping our lives.

At Eagle’s Nest, we strive to offer opportunities for the kids in our care to create cherished memories that are rooted in love and togetherness. The Methodist Home is proud to help foster these lasting memories for families across generations!

Healing Through Play

Lighthouse for Families offers many services to our community, one of them being Play Therapy, a form of counseling in which play is used as a means of helping children communicate their feelings. Gary Landreth, founder and director of the Center for Play Therapy, says: “Toys are children’s words and play are their language.” Play is a natural way for kids to express themselves and assists them in understanding the world around them.

Our Play room is a bright and magical place within Lighthouse for Families. The room is filled with dozens of board games, card games, dolls, puppets, costumes, building blocks, markers, workbooks, etc. It is a child’s wonderland. Once lost in play, kids are able to relax, talk, and project their thoughts and feelings.

We asked some of our therapists and counselors how they have seen Play Therapy help the girls and boys we serve:

“I was working with a young boy who had experienced physical abuse. He continuously struggled with emotional

outbursts and could not regulate himself. During our sessions he was extremely aggressive when playing with toys. I used toys to role model deep breathing, relaxation skills, and communicating emotions. After several months, he went from dumping out every toy and being aggressive with them to sitting down and playing appropriately. His behaviors at home and school began to dissipate and he was able to share his experiences with me in a way that was meaningful to him.”

“In working with a 4-year-old girl and her foster parents, she has been able to process trauma responses and learned how to regulate and co-regulate her emotions with her caregivers. Play Therapy has allowed her to make meaning of the traumatic experience and to manage reactions to trauma reminders.”

“I had a client with constant nightmares that made the bedtime routine difficult. He was afraid of kidnapping and break ins. He would have his parents check the doors, turn on the alarms, and would still

not go to bed easily. Play Therapy allowed him to act out his dreams and anxious thoughts in a neutral place filled with affirmation and genuine positive regard for his emotions. As he acted out the dreams I would have him insert a superhero or a different ending to the nightmare. Eventually the nightmares ended and his anxiety lessened significantly.”

Play Therapy also helps the child’s caregivers. Our therapists/counselors encourage parents to engage in different types of play with their children to strengthen attachment and trust. Playing games with children can help instill a skill that will benefit them in the long run. Games like Red Light Green Light and Simon Says teaches and improves listening skills and following directions. It creates a fun activity and builds upon skills they need to be successful.

Playing often breaks down barriers, improves relationships, and creates a safe and motivating environment. Our therapists and counselors at Lighthouse for Families use Play Therapy to help young girls and boys heal. One of our therapists shared, “I love engaging with kids in play. It is an

opportunity to see how life works through their eyes. I have been able to build trust with some difficult children because I take the time to engage them in the world they understand. It is an honor to watch disruptive behaviors calm and see effective communication start to happen. They will look at me for affirmation and get a smile on their face when I praise them for working so hard. I am just as excited to see them as they are to see me. The little ones almost always run in with a big smile and a huge hug because they want to be there. Kids are awesome and this job is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.”

Lighthouse for Families provides counseling for children, families, and individuals in Macon and Columbus, Georgia. For more information about our services go to www. themethodisthome.org/lighthousefor-families!

A Shared Journey

Elijah + Elisha

You are not seeing double – Elijah and Elisha really are identical twins! These boys have been in foster care since they were babies, and through it all they have always stood by each other. For the past six months, they have called The Carpenter’s Way Ranch home, and it did not take long for them to realize they had found a safe and caring environment. Here, at The Methodist Home, Elijah and Elisha are thriving, surrounded by the love and stability they deserve.

Moving to a new place is a big transition on its own, but for these twins, it coincided with another major milestone: starting 9th grade. Now, officially high schoolers, they are not just adjusting but excelling! They are embracing everything this new chapter has to offer. Elijah is eager to try out for track, crosscountry and football, while Elisha wants to try

out for soccer, join the school band’s drum line, and run track. In addition, they are working hard to make sure they keep their grades up and succeed academically!

Elijah and Elisha already have plans and dreams that include going to college. Elijah, inspired by the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, aspires to become a bioengineer. He shared, “I want help the community. The pandemic really limited our lives for a while, especially for us kids. I was only 10 years old when it started.” Elisha, perhaps influenced by his brother’s passion, also wants to pursue a career in engineering. While he is still exploring which specific field he wants to work in, he does know one thing for sure: he wants to make a difference. It is truly uplifting to see how these kids are already focused on how they can do their part to make the world a better place.

Both brothers agree they would not be where they are today without God. Elijah finds comfort in knowing God is always watching over him. Elisha is grateful for the many prayers and blessings he has received over the years. He believes, “God led the way to The Carpenter’s Way Ranch.”

One thing Elisha really enjoys about his new home is all the brothers he has gained. He likens them to protective older brothers, saying, “they keep us safe and help us out.” Elisha always looks forward to playing basketball and football with them.

Even with all his newfound brothers, Elisha could never forget about his twin. “Being

together reminds me that I am not alone in this life and inspires me to keep going when it gets tough,” he shared. No matter how much these two boys joke and mess around with each other, as brothers do, their bond is undeniable. We are incredibly grateful to provide Elijah and Elisha with a place to call home, a family to lean on, and a childhood full of memories. In the months they have been at The Methodist Home they have enjoyed swimming, amusement parks, live sports events, and more. They are so excited for the new experiences and opportunities ahead. We are so happy to be able to give them with the childhood they deserve.

Dear friend,

As Christmas approaches, we are reminded of the incredible gift of Jesus and the love He brought into the world. At The Methodist Home, we strive to share that same love with the children in our care – many of whom have never known the joy and warmth of a true Christmas. This special season is a time for families to gather, for love to be shared, and for children to feel the excitement of giving and receiving. When our youth arrive at our doorstep, they often carry not just physical bags, but metaphorical ones, heavy with the burden of neglect, trauma, and painful past experiences. For many of them, these burdens feel even heavier during the holidays. Perhaps this child never had the experience of sitting down to a family dinner, surrounded by loved ones and favorite holiday dishes. Others may have missed out on the magic of Christmas morning— leaping out of bed and racing to a brightly lit and beautifully decorated tree bountiful with gifts.

Despite these experiences, when I ask our kids what they want for Christmas you might be surprised to learn it is often not the newest toy, gadget, or trendy item. Many times, I hear them say “I want to be with my family” or “I want to go home.” Even though home is no longer a safe space, our children still yearn for normalcy and the unconditional love a family brings. Here at The Methodist Home, we are more than just a refuge; we are a family. A family that provides our youth with more than just gifts under the tree. We sit down to home-cooked meals, share stories, and offer the hope of our Lord and Savior. In a time when they need it most, we are there for our girls and boys. God’s gift of love is meant for everyone, especially His precious children.

This Christmas, YOU can give a child the opportunity to be a kid again. With your help, they can experience the magic of this season and the joy of Christ. Your generosity creates new memories for our girls and boys, and builds traditions they carry with them into the future.

Your thoughtful donation provides Christmas for children across South Georgia. Because of you, our kids will wake up on December 25th surrounded by their chosen family, knowing they are safe, cherished, and wrapped in God’s love. Together, we can give our children a Christmas they will never forget!

Warmly,

Alison Evans , President/ CEO

P.S. Once we have fulfilled each child’s Christmas, we will use additional funds to support the general needs of our youth. May God bless you and your family greatly. Merry Christmas!

2024 Heroes, Saints, and Legends

Lonnie Bivins

Lonnie Bivins was born in the metropolis of Tennille, GA graduating from Washington County High School. His entire life has been dedicated to serving people. His early hospitality skills were honed as he traveled regionally with his father’s gospel band. After graduation, he worked in food services for Aramark and Charter Northside Hospital.

Over 30 years ago, in what seemed to be a chance meeting at a skating party for all the children’s homes in Macon, God revealed another aspect of His plan for Lonnie and The Methodist Home. Dr. Steve Rumford spotted Lonnie’s talents when he worked for the Georgia Industrial Children’s Home and enticed him to come work for The Home. After about 20 minutes it was clear to both Dr. Steve Rumford and to Lonnie that he should be our Food Service Supervisor. This motivated Lonnie and channeled his talents, hospitality and servant

leadership skills to benefit the youth, staff and guests of The Home. He is recognized as the best across the state and well beyond.

Lonnie has served for three decades, first as the Director of Food Services when the dining hall and kitchen were beneath our Burden Chapel. When we built the Rumford Center, Lonnie provided critical guidance suggesting we add an industrial kitchen and convincing the architects to place it strategically between our dining room and our gym/event space so we could serve multiple groups of people simultaneously.

Emerging as a point person for logistics, purchasing and construction, Lonnie was “already doing the work” so Dr. Steve Rumford promoted him to Director of Facilities! Lonnie provided valuable insight as we expanded our services across South Georgia.

In 2014, he was again promoted to Vice President of Facilities, responsible for so much more than food services. CEO and President, Alison Evans shared, “he is like the ‘Mayor of The Methodist Home’ and I can assure you I would not want to do my job without the knowledge, counsel, support and integrity of this man.”

Within our community, Lonnie also serves on the Board of ONE SOUTH Bank and is a member of Beulahland Bible Church in Macon, GA. He and his wife, Norma, have been married for 39 years and have two adult sons, Lonnie Jr. and Randall For over 17 years, Lonnie and Norma have served as foster parents, giving Lonnie the opportunity to walk one of his girls down the aisle.

In the days leading up to our Evening of Hope event, despite extraordinary challenges to him and his excellent team, he made it a wonderful event. He juggled hosting the Macon Touchdown Club and being in Valdosta as he worked alongside the wonderful disaster relief volunteers of our Methodist church. Together, they cleared the group home of downed trees and covered the roof damaged by Hurricane Helene.

He gives excellent leadership to both his teams in food service and maintenance, as well as the event teams that enhance events like Evening of Hope. Lonnie is the calm in any storm. As a result, it is no surprise The Methodist Home is the go-to site for state wide training events.

Lonnie shows off his carving skills during a celebration in 2004.

Lonnie Bivins poses with his wife and kids after being named the 2009 Servant Leader of the Year!

Lonnie’s commitment has truly helped in making The Methodist Home the model organization in the care of children and youth with exceptional care and hospitality. Lonnie is the Gold Standard unmatched anywhere.

For all his service we applaud YOU, Mr. Lonnie Bivins! Your faithfulness, strength, commitment and ever-present servant leadership makes you a perfect choice as our 2024 Heroes, Saints, and Legends Honoree. We are proud and blessed to have you at The Methodist Home.

2024 Evening of Hope

Our annual Evening of Hope fundraising dinner was truly inspiring, bringing together supporters and friends to help us continue our mission of restoring childhoods, strengthening families, and building brighter futures. The evening featured keynote speaker Alex Kendrick, Christian leader and filmmaker, who delivered a powerful message. His words resonated deeply with all in attendance, as he shared stories of faith and perseverance, reinforcing the importance of our work with the children in our care.

A heartfelt thanks to the generous sponsors who made Evening of Hope possible. Thanks to your contributions, we are able to continue providing a safe, nurturing environment for the children and youth at The Methodist Home. Your partnership means the world to us and to the lives you are helping to change.

HOPE Foster Care & Adoption is the private, faith-based foster care and adoption program of The Methodist Home.

OUR MISS ION

The goal of HOPE Foster Care & Adoption is to recruit, train, and support caregivers as they provide children and youth with emotional and physical safety. The experienced, professional team of case workers at HOPE Foster Care & Adoption provides caregivers with intensive training to help build their skills and confidence in parenting children who have experienced trauma.

HOPE Foster Care & Adoption case workers are always available, 24 support and encouragement. They also join in the celebrations of the children served through HOPE.

Saving money on your taxes while helping children and families is definitely a WIN-WIN

Did you know that you can save money on your taxes while helping the children and families that are served by The Methodist Home? Donations of appreciated securities, such as stocks, bonds, and mutual funds can not only help those in the care of The Methodist Home, but can also be a smart tax-planning move.

With charitable gifts of long term held appreciated securities, the donation you make and the deduction you receive may be greater than if you sold the securities and then donated the cash proceeds. When donating securities to a charity, you are generally able to take a tax deduction for the full fair market value of those securities up to the amount allowed by the IRS. In addition, donating securities directly to the charity allows you to avoid paying capital gains taxes. If you were to sell shares of your securities and then donate the proceeds, you would have to pay capital gains on the difference between the price you paid for the shares and the price at which you sold them. However, when donating securities directly to a charity, the IRS allows you to bypass paying capital gains taxes.

Not only is donating securities a good idea for the present, it may reduce your future capital gains. Many investors have stocks that they want to hold for the long term within their portfolios. If these appreciated shares are donated and new

shares are purchased in their place, the cost basis will reset. With this new cost basis, future capital gains exposure can be reduced if the stock continues to grow in value. Donating securities is relatively easy and can usually be initiated with a call to your financial advisor.

Today, the work of The Methodist Home and The Foundation of The Methodist Home is more important than ever. Your donations of stock and other appreciated securities provide critical financial support enabling us to make a difference in the lives of the children and families entrusted into our care.

Thank you for all that you do to help us help others.

If you would like to learn more about how your donation of stock or appreciated securities can help make a difference in the lives of children and families, please contact Caroline Edenfield at caroline@foundationmch.org or 478-751-1725.
