Dear Friend,

Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty (Met Council) was founded in 1972 and has grown to be one of the largest human service agencies in New York serving over 100,000 clients each year. The provision of food has long been a vital component of the array of services Met Council offers to individuals and families in crisis. Met Council distributes more than 5.2 million pounds of kosher food annually to over 15,000 households each month - but in this economy it is not enough! The Food for Life campaign, is an effort to raise funds to ensure that Met Council can meet the needs of all who are hungry. To this end, we will be holding our second annual fundraiser hosted by Met Council’s Most Valuable Players, (MVP) our young leadership group on Thursday, March 3rd, at Cielo, a night club in New York City. The cocktail soiree will draw over 200 New York City young professionals who are emerging leaders in their fields. The party will include cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a live DJ in addition to a raffle full of exciting prizes. I am writing to you to ask you to join us as a sponsor for this event. Attached please find the sponsorship opportunities and their associated benefits. To be listed on the invitation as a sponsor, please respond by February 21st. Your sponsorship will not only help to ensure the evening’s success, but more importantly will support Met Council in our efforts to provide essential services such as food vouchers, weekly and holiday food packages, weekend meals for the homebound and kosher soup kitchens to our ever growing number of clients in need. Your donation of a gift or service for our auction or raffle will allow us to continue to provide quality services to our clients. Your donation will be listed in the evening’s program as well as the website. Your gift will also be included in the Met Council newsletter which is sent to a membership of over 10,000 families and individuals. This year the goal of MVP is to raise funds to sponsor our food voucher program for one month. Met Council issues food vouchers monthly to clients based on their incomes, family size and a need for food that cannot be met through other sources. We regularly issue emergency food vouchers to get clients through the month. We hope that you will partner with us in this effort by sponsoring, or donating goods or services to Met Council’s biggest young professionals’ event. Thank you for your kind consideration and support of this event and for helping us with our mission to provide food for all who are hungry. If you have any questions please contact Stefanie Greenberg, at sgreenberg@metcouncil.org or call her at (212) 453-9619.

Sincerely,

Russ Freyman
