We are excited to announce the results of the Messenger-Inquirer’s Readers’ Choice Awards. Each year for the last 13 years, the Messenger-Inquirer has polled readers for their take on the best local businesses in a variety of categories.

And based on those votes we’ve awarded platinum, gold and silver awards in each category. Every year since the inception of these awards, enthusiasm has built and participation has grown. This year more than 20% more people voted than last year. This year over 16,000 individuals voted. More than 132,000 votes were cast from all age demographics. 40% of our voters are 34 or younger. 26% of our voters are 35-44 and 33% of our voters are 45 or older. The Messenger-Inquirer Readers’ Choice Awards are therefore the most prestigious awards given to local businesses.

We compile award results into six sections — dining and entertainment, home and business, professional services and miscellaneous, health and beauty, retail and shopping, and automotive — and then present the winning businesses as the platinum, gold or silver choice in each category.

Our annual Readers’ Choice Awards resonate with readers because we ask them what they love about our community.

Where’s the best place to find locally-grown food, or sample burgoo, or consult a financial expert, or contract a roofer, or enjoy a family outing? The locals tell us, and in these pages, we pass the word onto you.
