2023 - 4th Year Professor Thomas Savory As all libraries start with a book, so does this design, through the geometries, materials, and purpose as a resource. The individual “books” each represent a community need of the Olympia neighborhood, creating spaces that encourage learning in every corner.

Through the use of an exposed structure and programming that promotes community engagement, the building itself acts as a living resource. AIA Frameworks serve as the three main goals of this design.

2023 - 3rd Year Professor Miguel Roldán, in collaboration with Avery Kemble In order to inspire growth within the Barcelona neighborhood of Gracia, our design starts by visually connecting the surrounding local green spaces to this central plaza.

The usage of the catenary arch reflects the area’s history, while the structure itself looks forward and will continue to grow with the neighborhood. With family use and flexibility as a priority, the open ground floor spaces are able to adapt to the needs of the everchanging city of Barcelona.

Recycled from the original Abaceria Market structure, this ALUMINUM FOAM structure allows for a light-weight arch system with multiple porosities.

This material filters sunlight throughout the garden, and creates space for vegetation to become part of the structure.

2022 - 3rd Year Professor Dustin Albright, in collaboration with Salvator Costanzo Using research from the WELL Building Standards, this multitenent office space in Chelsea, New York centers around worker wellbeing and the unique neighborhood of Chelsea. The facade and materials reflect the identity of the community while facilitating new opportunities for coworking and innovation. The working pods and communal facilities create a flexible working atmosphere that put the user first.

2022 - 2nd Year Professor Joseph Choma This community art center for Cayce, South Carolina introduced real world applications to the design process. The materiality and programming draw inspiration from the Writer’s Theatre Center by Studio Gang. The sculpural form of the building creates a central intersection that connects the two sides of the center, the gallery and performance space. Flexibility of the display spaces and usage for their creators were considered throughout the design.

05 Recreation Village Clemson Field House

2021 - 2nd Year Professor Amy Trick Located on the outskirts of the Clemson University campus, this field house design focuses on the relationship between positive indoor spaces, and negative outdoor spaces. A village-like quality is created by separating the programming and connecting the shelters by the covered gathering area. The juxtaposition between the buildings and the outdoor space through the use of form, slope, and material further pushed the design.

2020 - 1st Year Professor Sallie Hambright-Belue Hand-drawn technical and experiential drawings of the facade of a building on the Clemson campus. The facade’s strong horizontal grain is the focus of the physical model. The experiential render uses watercolor and ink to focus on how the facade of the building changes throughout the seasons, and different times of day.

Architecture cannot be defined in one clean sentence. Like the design process itself, the definition of architecture is always evolving, and relies heavily on the eye of the individual.

As architects, we have a unique opportunity to impact the world through our creativity and individual perspectives. Architecture alters how people make connections to one another, by breaking barriers and creating opportunities to come together. Our effects on the surrounding environment are now more evident than ever, and the opportunity to shape this changing environment requires passion to design with the future in mind. It is the combination of this responsibility, creativity, and personal passion that bridges architecture into art, and encourages me to design.
