CONCEPT

Pengrèn is a project of connection between China and Italy. The two aspects highlighted and mixed together are the tradition of Italian cuisine and the technique of Chinese carving.

The first utensil is a colander, a common kitchen tool always present in any Italian household, but shaped and carved with traditional Chinese motives and figures.

The second object is a grater, a peculiar tool of the Italian tradition, typically used to grate Parmesan cheese, with the same Chinese motives applied.

The patterns are soft shapes inspired by waves: three concentric arcs in harmony with the rounded shape of the colander and the soft curves of the grater.

The circle is the recurring figure of the project, and it is also depicted in the wooden handles.

In addition to the choice of patterns and the carving technique, China is also represented through Chinese shadows. The holes create light tricks and shadows so that when the tools are not in use, they can be hung up on the wall for esthetic purposes.

UX/SERVICE DESIGN

PROJECT BRIEF

The goal of this project was to enable creativity within a consultancy’s firm in Urban planning, by embedding myself in their work environment. By focusing on “care”, how this affects the way we work for and with others as designers, leading to the notion of trust in order to let creativity bloom.

Community matters - Sustainable design- creative thinking methods 2023 I Gothenburg I Sweden

CONCEPT

The design proposal consists of five boards each representing the different stages of the TISLA process:

- trust

- intentions

- story-telling

- legacy

- action

The boards are made in plywood 40x60cm with vinyl creating a grid, questions, instructions and shapes. In addition to this there are task cards, question cards, shapes made in polymer clay, and a manual giving tips on facilitation and use of the boards. Each board grounds in theory from fractal facilitation, storytelling as sensemaking, and design thinking. The boards contribute to a focus on social sustainability and community matters.
