SCHOLARS PROGRAMS HONORS PROGRAM – engages exceptional students in a rigorous curriculum that reflects the highest accomplishment in research, creativity and thought at the College. Students accepted into the Honors Program participate in innovative courses, travel opportunities, cultural enrichment programs, and community-based learning.

STEM SCHOLARS PROGRAMS – offer a unique opportunity for talented students intending to study biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, or mathematics. Scholars participate in a specialized learning community, a mentoring program, and hear from outside speakers who address topics of interest for women in STEM. Meredith offers two STEM scholarships: AWESTEM and Paschal.

Advancing Women’s Education in STEM (AWE-STEM) Scholars receive a $4,500 scholarship per year, renewable for up to eight semesters or as appropriate for the student’s degree plan. The award is need and merit-based.

Paschal Scholars receive a $500 scholarship per year, renewable for up to eight semesters or as appropriate for the student’s degree plan. The award is based on academic credentials and potential for success at Meredith.

MEREDITH TEACHING FELLOWS PROGRAM – offers a dynamic education enriched with opportunities to gain hands-on classroom experience, learn from education professionals, participate in study abroad, and enroll in Honors courses. Each Meredith Teaching Fellow is paired with an experienced public school teacher for a unique two-year mentorship program.

SERVICE SCHOLARS – for students with a demonstrated deep commitment to service in their communities. They are creative individuals with a strong understanding of principles of community engagement and a desire to learn from their experiences. Recipients are comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds and open to ideas that may differ from their own. At Meredith, recipients participate in a specialized learning community.

Scholars take courses in a variety of disciplines, reflect critically about the causes of various societal issues, and engage in creating solutions with their partner organizations toward the goal of social justice within the local communities.

TALENT SCHOLARSHIPS ART SCHOLARSHIPS – awarded to incoming first-year students pursuing a major in art. Finalists for the awards are selected by the faculty of the Department of Art on the basis of artistic talent determined through a digital portfolio submission and are invited to bring their artwork to campus and interview with art faculty during Scholars Weekend. These scholarships may be renewed annually for a total of four years.

CREATIVE WRITING SCHOLARSHIPS – awarded to first-year, full-time students with an interest in creative writing. These scholarships are renewable annually for a total of four years.

INTERIOR DESIGN SCHOLARSHIPS – awarded to incoming first-year students planning to major in interior design. Finalists for the award are invited to campus to present samples of their creative work and interview with faculty during Scholars Weekend. These awards, which are made on the basis of scholarship and potential for success in the field, may be renewed annually for a total of four years.

PHI THETA KAPPA SCHOLARSHIPS – $5,000 annual scholarship for members of Phi Theta Kappa who have earned a minimum of 30 transferrable credits. Official documentation of PTK induction must be provided. This scholarship can be combined with the Academic Incentive

THEATRE SCHOLARSHIPS – awarded to incoming first-year students pursuing a major in theatre. Applicants are invited to audition during Scholars Weekend for these scholarships, which are awarded on the basis of talent in theatre.

THOMAS MEREDITH BAPTIST HERITAGE

The deadline to apply for Scholars Programs or Talent Scholarships is January 15. Students must also be admitted to the College by January 15. Applying Early Decision or Early Action is recommended. Students invited to interview or audition for Scholars Programs or Talent Scholarships complete their interviews or auditions at Scholars Weekend in mid-February. Scholarship recipients are notified by mid-March.

TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIPS ACADEMIC INCENTIVE SCHOLARSHIP AND TUITION GRANTS – $6,000 - $11,000 annually for students transferring from a U.S. accredited four-year institution or community college. Amount of award is based on academic credentials submitted with the application for

Recipients must be members of a North Carolina Baptist church and provide a recommendation from a church official. The scholarships are renewable for a total of four years.

YELLOW RIBBON SCHOLARSHIPS – match certain grant and scholarship contributions from Meredith to veterans and their eligible dependents. Maximum VA benefit is $20,235.
