Kongsberg Maritime Kongsberg is embracing subsea surveillance, with its newest model HUGIN Edge bringing the latest in technology to all sectors, from bathymetric survey to wind farm maintenance, habitat mapping to seabed characterisation and defence applications. Extensive hydrodynamic modelling together with Kongsberg Maritime’s carbon monocoque design and a refined low-drag hull shape are some of the reasons why the company’s latest brightly coloured autonomous underwater vehicle is being hailed as the most advanced AUV yet. “The traditional HUGIN that’s been around for about 14 years in its current form is a really modular vehicle so it’s configurable for a number of applications,” says Richard Mills, VP of Marine Robotics sales, presenting the HUGIN Edge at the recent Oceanology International exhibition at London’s Excel centre. “Rather like a pick-up truck. Then you have the HUGIN Superior, which has the best of everything you can throw at a single platform – four-day endurance, 6,000m depth. “The HUGIN Endurance has 15 days’
