A giant sucess for artists at Menlo Yesenia Herrera | Staff Reporter

Creative arts night, an evening dedicated to the Menlo art’s community, was held in the gym on Wednesday, November 12th. We were enchanted by The Famine Song, danced to Michael Jackson’s Thriller, witnessed musical masterpieces, were dazzled by photography, given nightmares by a few short films, and mesmerized by acrylic on canvas. “In the arts, we learn through experimenting,” said Dr. Ollikainen, better known as Nina the art teacher. All of the work presented that night by the choir, our band, moviemaking, photography and dance were illustrative of her point. “The arts enrich our lives,” said Alex Perez, Upper School Creative Arts Director, who followed up the presentations with a public wide commemoration of the San Francisco Giants’ win. Unfinished sketches taught us about play, mixed media show us how to break boundaries, and Brittney Kidwells choreography taught us that bruises and a visions make beauty. Lit Mag members, who weren’t included in the assembly, also stood by the exit to the reception and handed out an original poem by Avalon Edwards (see Page 4).
