Lillie's story

October 2010 she was the most beautiful and precious little girl, her mammy and daddy were so happy. th

Baby Lillie lived at home with her mammy and daddy her whole family adored her, she had a lovely warm comforting home. Lillie was a very good baby who slept and loved to drink bottles of milk she loved watching the television in her bouncer chair especially Mickey Mouse.

Precious Little Lillie was absolutely perfect one day her Mammy noticed she was poorly Daddy had gone out to work. It was like she had a cold so mammy gave her some magic medicine lots of cuddles and gave her a bottle of milk and she seemed much better. Mammy decided it would be a good idea to take Lillie out in her pram for a walk.

As we walked mammy called at her friend’s house Lillie was fast asleep which wasn’t unusual while she was in her pram after a while we left to set of home on the way I noticed a dark bruise on little Lillie’s face this wasn’t right mammy panicked and we raced to nanas house.

As soon as we got into nanas house Lillie’s nan and aunty paula were there, we took Lillie’s cloths of to check her body we saw she was covered in tiny red spots, straight away we called for an ambulance Lillie needed a doctor and fast.

The Ambulance arrived we got little Lillie wrapped up and into the ambulance then mammy and Lillie were rushed into hospital there was lots of doctors and nurses surrounding little Lillie trying their best to make her better.

Daddy arrived at the hospital he came straight from work to be with us mammy and daddy were so scared. The doctors decided Lillie needed to have a sleep to make her better she needed lots of rest and lots of medicine to make her better. The doctors told us that Lillie had Meningitis and she needed to go to a bigger hospital were the doctors and nurses would be able to give better care.

Lillie was transferred in a special ambulance to Newcastle hospital mammy and daddy travelled behind we were so worried about our beautiful little princess.

Baby Lillie was so poorly she was covered in a dark rash and she was fast asleep getting better mammy daddy and all her family were always by her side giving kisses cuddles singing songs and telling her stories Lillie got lots of teddy’s and get well soon wishes everyone was praying that this little princess would get better and fight the illness off.

Lillie was beginning to get better but the rash remained and it was making Lillies arm and both legs very poorly we were told by the doctors that to help Lillie survive they would need to take her legs and her arm away and send them to heaven so they could save her and make her better.

Mammy, daddy and your whole family were so sad we couldn’t believe how this could happen to such a beautiful little girl.

Lillie was taken for a very big operation and she was ever so brave. The operation took 8hours but we knew our brave little girl would be a fighter.

A few weeks after the operation Lillie was wakened up by the doctors she was crying and didn’t know where she was but mammy and daddy were right there with her making her feel better.

Precious Lillie continued her fight and she got stronger and better each day she had lots of operations to make her skin better the doctors and nurses looked after her so well they loved her so much and always tried their best to make sure she had everything she needed and was comfortable.

After 5 long months in hospital brave little Lillie was allowed home as she was better this was the best day of her whole families lives it was a day they had all waited for a long time mammy and daddy were so happy there little family back together.

Lillie’s whole family were waiting at our house to welcome her home it was such a happy day.

Lillie fought this horrible nasty illness of she was brave our little fighter.

Always smiling always happy never letting anything get in her way she surprised us all starting to crawl and get around on her little legs such a very clever girl.

We got to see a special doctor who told us he could make Lillie a very special pair of legs his name was Neil and such a lovely man he began to measure Lillie’s little legs and made a cast out of plaster which looked a bit like playdoh that went hard and moulded the shape of her little legs.

We went back to pick the legs up and they were fantastic a pair of peppa pig legs Lillie loved them and began to take her very few first steps in them this was so amazing mammy and daddy were so proud of our brave little girl. Lillie also loved picking new shoes and she got a very special pair of Lelli Kelly shoes. She also loved to wear princess dresses with her legs on

Lillie continued to get new legs with her own design on them each pair she chose was her own favourite character from the television Lillie is a very happy clever little girl who thoroughly enjoys school and has lots of lovely little friends who love her and look after her. Lillie loves toys and colouring in she enjoys going on holiday family days out and spending time with her cousins.

Lillie is a very happy little girl and her family love her so much Lillie took poorly due to Meningitis but she hasn’t let it beat her she is just amazing she lost both her legs and one arm due to being poorly but it has never stopped her being so happy she is always smiling and full of life mammy and daddy always keep her safe and never let anything happen to her we are all happy and are much stronger we have an incredible family bond which will never ever be broken. We all lived happily ever after even if there was a few bumps in the road.
