Summary of Interview Vered and Craig Gottesman are in their mid 30's and have a 2 and 5-year-old daughter. They recently bought their first home back in October and hope to vacation at Martha's Vineyard in the summers. Vered grew up in Georgia but married a New Yorker and now finds herself residing where her husband from. She's used to the city life but is trying to get accustomed to a suburban lifestyle.

Our group was a bit hesitant before this meeting knowing our clients have a private social media presence, but after meeting with Vered we found she's very articulate about what she likes, dislikes, needs, and wants.

We found we have a better gauge of how her family currently lives and how that would transfer to their vacation home. With 2 young children, they are an active family. Vered and Craig enjoy going on runs and bike rides. Their daughters enjoy making art and music. Their family loves the beach, going to the pool, and trying new restaurants. When vacationing, being outdoors is the main focus for them.

The kitchen is an important space for their family since they enjoy cooking meals and being together in an open concept design. A family room or den would be important for them and it should be in close proximity to the kitchen. Vered would love to have a dedicated area to drop and store beach items and have a place to rinse off any messes tracked through their outings so they won't be seen in the main living area. Key components she would love to see in their vacation home would be any purchased art collections they've collected from previous vacations and family photographs. They would also use this home to host family and friends on the weekends and even potentially rent it out for a couple of weeks when it's not in use.

History

Originally founded in 1671 as a whaling port town, Edgartown is now a prosperous summer tourist destination. Edgartown, part of the larger known Martha's Vineyard, hosts tourists and residents who appreciate the town's historic district which boasts all-white facades that house gift stores, restaurants, art galleries, boutiques, among other businesses. Martha's Vineyard is also best known for its beautiful country clubs, yachting events, beaches, and well-preserved historic architecture.

Similar to its neighboring island, Cape Cod, Edgartown's classic homes are notoriously clad in weathered wood shingles. The building site is plentiful of the island's native oak and pine trees and boasts private waterfront access to Katama Bay.

Off Season Activities Averaging over 40" of snow per winter, tourists don't typically visit Martha's Vineyard during the offseason. With only residents staying, there aren't many activities to partake in off property.
