Bring on the heat! We all love Summer and all the outdoor activities that come along with it. If you’re like me, you enjoy taking your workout outside and changing up the routine that you typically do inside all Winter. I really like the challenge of a long hike. If you don’t already know about it, there’s an app called All Trails that helps you find hikes anywhere you want to travel to. You can streamline your search by mileage, difficulty level, elevation gain, water reservoirs, and whether they allow dogs, etc.

Once you find a hike it is time to prepare! First and foremost you need a good pair of hiking shoes. I prefer Hoka Speed Goats. They can be purchased online or locally at Fleet Feet in Spokane or Coeur d’Alene. They are worth every penny! No slipping and they are roomy enough to allow for swelling from the heat without blisters. From here I pack what I call my safety:
