Personal Update: I worked in the food industry traveling around to see where I wanted to plant my feet. I decided Florida was the place. I met my husband shortly after moving. I went to nursing school but then dropped out to be an artist. We already had my husbands art going for 5 years before I started pouring epoxy. We invented a special wall art made out pallets, then my husband uses a jigsaw to cut out shapes and pictures. He then uses stains and paints to bring it to life, and finally adds LED lighting behind for night time.

Best HighSchool Memory:

The night before graduation a few of us took Rachel Pipo out for a “spin” around Poulbso... we essentially blind folded and kidnapped her. I drove around in my mom’s huge station wagon going in and out of neighborhoods, figure 8s and doughnuts. We eventually ended up at Central after we all were car sick and had them announce over the intercom a happy birthday. In hindsight I was probably really lucky I didn’t get pulled over.

Career Update: While I was attending The University of Washington I worked in the Luminescence Dating laboratory. It was very interesting since I had to work in the dark and prepare artifacts for the dating process, this was a very memorable job and enjoyed it a lot!

Personal Update: In a nutshell; college, travelling and family! Moved a lot, lived with many different friends (one place ended up being haunted), Travelled to the Philippines to do a 5 week Field school in Archaeology in 2010. We slept in tents and took cold bucket showers outside as we mostly stayed on the island of Palawan, this is where I learned how to excavate an archaeological site. Visited Ireland for 2 weeks and drove around the whole country seeing all the in between villages as well as the bustling cities like Dublin and Belfast. Took a 2 week road trip to Yellowstone with my good friend Deanna (lots of funny stories and memories were made there :) Soon after I took care of my mom who had early onset Alzheimer’s as I was newly married and soon to be a new mom in 2011. With the birth of my daughter we decided it was best for me to be with her so my adventure of being a SAHM started! Casey and I finally got our honeymoon 2 years later to Mexico! We were there during El Dia de Los Muertos and got to see turtles hatching on the beach and scrambling back into the ocean, it was so special! We also discovered that you can apparently ATV to a tequila farm and do tastings, jump into the river and go swimming and then ATV back under a constant canopy of banana spiders, EEK!

Career Update: Kevin Sheen and I started the Poulsbo Film Festival in 2022, and are the owners of Away With Words Bookshop in Downtown Poulsbo since January 2023. We specialize in a fun variety of books, self care items, and fun gifts including locallymade goods.

Personal Update: After graduation I moved to Arizona to attend ASU, and I ended up living in Arizona from 2003 to 2018 working a variety of very interesting jobs including being business editor for a Nephrology magazine, sales assistant for a bus dealership, docket clerk for a law firm, and strategic planning project coordinator for a large hospital system. Both of my sons were born while I lived in Arizona and I wanted a slower-paced life and more time at home while they were young so I moved back to Poulsbo (and back into my childhood home which is wild!) in the fall of 2018. I have become very involved in the Poulsbo community and have rekindled lots of old friendships with others who have returned to Kitsap also (or never left). Kevin and I reconnected during the pandemic and got married in 2022 which was literally the busiest year of our lives between the wedding, starting the Poulsbo Film Festival (year two is October 13-15 2023) and buying Away With Words Bookshop right after Christmas. I currently serve as the President of the Historic Downtown Poulsbo Association, I am a new member of Kitsap Crossroads Rotary, and am very proud to be a small business owner. Our kids are very busy participating in lots of local sports- which is so fun. It is literally nuts to be married to your prom date, 20 years later, after spending so much time apart. How are we THIS old?!

Favorite Local Spot: Oxalis on Viking Way is hands down the best food! But, Downtown Poulsbo is hard to beat - so many gems. Brass Kraken or the Loft for the perfect view, Viking Brew Coffee

Best HighSchool Memory: Tough one! One of them would have to be sunbathing on the roof of the auditorium with Shannon Hildebrand because we were entrusted with keys. (oops! sorry NKHS) The choir trip to New York was definitely a highlight, and all of the shenanigans back stage at the musicals and plays. I LOVED the high school experience and felt fortunate that I was able to be friends with people from all different ‘cliques’ because of yearbook and choir and theater and student government.

Personal Update: A few years after graduating, my #1 hobby became fitness! I became a certified personal trainer and fitness instructor, and did training and instructing as a side hobby.

Career Update: After college, I got a job teaching fitness classes on a cruise ship! I was in the best shape of my life as I traveled the Mediterranean and Caribbean.

In my late 20’s, I began a career in public relations. Some of my favorite work experiences include meeting and working with A-list celebrities and public figures. A favorite memory includes seeing my teenage celebrity crush Leonardo Dicaprio at the office! Another memorable experience was working closely with Monica Lewinsky at an event I was working at. She was the most gracious and kind person!

Personal Update: I got married a little later than fellow classmates (honeymooned in Ireland,) but we bought a house less than two months after our wedding and completely moved in right before Thanksgiving of that year. It is located about 12 miles from our previous house. After repainting a bedroom and tearing out laminate flooring and getting carpet in two bedrooms, we adopted our “baby,” Henry. We have a four year old niece and six and a half year old nephew. We’ve been trying to get pregnant since we got married, but unfortunately have struggled with unexplained infertility. The biggest news is that while we’ve kept it off social media for now (our families and close friends know already, however,) we’ve been approved to adopt a baby! We are doing a domestic, infant adoption and are now in the waiting stages to be chosen by a birth mother. Wish us luck, we’re tired of this waiting game!

Favorite Local Spot: The Loft, Sluy’s Bakery

Favorite Vacation Spot: Ireland, Hawaii and the Caribbean. It’s hard to choose one specific one though because I’ve been to lots of places.

Best HighSchool Memory: I enjoyed chemistry with Mrs. Piper and considering math wasn’t a strong subject for me, I was so close to getting an A- in Algebra II. But the choir trip to NYC was pretty great!

Career Update: I monitor broadcast signals and prepare content for air for stations owned by our company and fix problems as needed.

Career Update: I’ve been doing just about everything! Started out as an actor and video producer assistant in Seattle. Then worked for Failblog.org and I Can Haz Cheezburger web start-up for almost two years as a video editor. Then made candles and body products for 6 years at Big Dipper Wax Works (also acting a ton during this period). Then I went back to school at Seattle University for a 1 year + and studied digital marketing / website design. Then got a job as the Marketing Manager at a non-profit in Shoreline, working along with the City of Shoreline and City of Lake Forest Park. There I helped build the Shoreline Film Office with the City and Shoreline Community College. I also directed the Shoreline Short Short Film Festival for 5 years. I was proud to produce a video series of BIPOC business owners in the area, highlighting their efforts and contributions to the community. Now I’m a business owner in downtown Poulsbo! I’m a co-owner with my wife at Away With Words Bookshop and the newly established Poulsbo Film Festival. Now entering our second year!

Career Update: I’m a therapist who specializes in working with trauma survivors who have PTSD. I also treat a variety of other mental health issues including anxiety, depression, personality disorders, phobias and insomnia. I worked as a therapist in adult outpatient services at Kitsap Mental Health from 2013 to 2019 while I accumulated the 3,000 hours of supervised clinical practice necessary to obtain my independent clinical social work license. After earning my clinical license in the summer of 2018, I left Kitsap Mental Health to start my private practice in February of 2019.

Favorite Local Spot: Our favorite local spot is Kitsap Golf and Country Club. We enjoy playing golf together as a family and swimming in the pool in the summer.

Favorite Vacation Spot: Our favorite vacation spot is Hawaii. Every winter we travel with Andy’s family to Waikoloa, Hawaii where we love swimming and soaking up the sun, building sandcastles, watching whales (and turtles and sunsets), snorkeling, walking, and exploring.

Best HighSchool Memory: Oh my goodness, it’s so hard to pick out one memory as the best one out of so many good memories, but I think my best high school memory is Senior Prom. It was such a fun, fancy night out!

Personal Update: Geez, trying to recap 20 years of life AFTER high school makes me feel so OLD, ha! All of the other questions hit most of the highlights, but our most recent update is that we FINALLY moved into our beautiful new home after three long heartbreaking and bank breaking years. It is a LONG story. We signed a contract in June of 2020 to purchase a new home that was supposed to be built in 6 to 9 months. The developer blamed delays on COVID while funneling money from home buyers to fund his gubernatorial campaign instead of funding construction of the homes. In March of 2022, our family (along with several other families) realized that we lost our new home and all of the money we had invested in the construction of our new home when the developer foreclosed and the bank took control of the properties. In April of 2022, we signed a new contract with a new developer in the same neighborhood to build our dream home. On April 28, 2023 we got the keys to our gorgeous new house and are happily (but painfully slowly, lol) settling in.

Personal Update: Three months after having my second baby in 2019 I was in serious car accident that left me with a dislocated shattered hip that had to have have two reconstructive hip surgeries and had to spend my baby’s first Christmas in the hospital. I was bedridden for four months and I have since been rediscovering myself and making up precious moments I lost with my baby. Over the years I have learn self love, taking better care of my mental health. I do have a blog that I started back in 2018 called Finding Meg. I also have a personal blog on Instagram. These days I spend a lot of my time raising my boys and reading books again, drinking coffee/tea, and going for long walks in nature, and enjoying the little things that make me happy and make me who I am.

Best HighSchool Memory: Its hard to say if I had a best memory. I would say moving to poulsbo and finding the friends I made while there was really great since I was a new student and i know most of the rest of the graduates mostly grew up with one another. Just was nice to feel accepted.

Personal Update: My husband is in the Coast Guard and we have been able to travel all across the country and see 38 states together, and in a few years are planning on a European vacation. . We’re finally settling down in the space coast of Florida and putting down roots. I enjoy hanging out with my kids (most of the time), working on my house and my yard. I love going to theme parks in Orlando with my kids, watching rocket launches from our backyard and playing kickball on a local team. We ride our bikes all over our town and in the winter we can see manatees in the canals. I love our piece of paradise.
