For the first time since 2019, we approached the end of the Autumn term at Meldreth Primary with no restrictions in place and a genuinely festive feeling! December was a wonderful month, when our children again enjoyed a variety of different activities and excursions. Here are some highlights: Our Movie Night was a fully-booked event, run by our fantastic PTA and enjoyed by children (and a fair few members of staff too!). It was a time for popcorn, pyjamas and pillows as ‘Minions’ was played on the big screen. As a pre-cursor to our Christmas festivities, performances and concerts, we donned Christmas jumpers, played the cheesiest Christmas songs and went off-timetable for the day. With classes mixed across key stages, the children journeyed from classroom to classroom to craft a wide variety of different Christmas decorations such as bird boxes, snow globes and wreaths to adorn the school for the season. On a beautiful, sunny and crisp November morning, a selection of talented runners from each class from 7 years plus competed in a cross-country race at Wimpole Hall Estate. Close to a thousand runners took part from all over Cambridgeshire and our children performed exceptionally well, representing our school proudly.

Our youngest children, threw themselves into their nativity performances of ‘A Christmas Recipe’ in December, and what a triumph it was! Their story imagined all the ingredients that go to make a wonderful Christmas being mixed together in a bowl! With a host of colourful 'ingredients' (robins, presents, snow, Father Christmas, and much more) the children's first live performance ever gave us a very special Christmas performance with some brilliant dance moves, confident acting and superb singing. All round PROUD parents and relatives were treated to two outstanding performances.
