Meldreth Primary School www.meldreth.cambs.sch.uk Thursday 11th November brought us Remembrance Day; a day to remember the service and sacrifice of all those who have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life. At Meldreth Primary School we had an assembly explaining all about the importance of Remembrance Day and what it represents, as well as a minute of silence followed by a few words from some of the Year Sixes. Children across the school have been reflecting on those soldiers and others who have given so much for our country. Please find some of the thoughts and comments from Year 6 below. To all the soldiers who have lost and loved. The worst day of humanity was on the battlefield. I salute you and all you’ve done. You are heroes. We love all who have lost and loved the dearest and greatest. Thank you. Fred We gather here today to remember all those who died fighting for their country. As we remember, we take a couple of minutes of silence to think about their sacrifice. They never gave up; they showed a sign of resilience. They kept on trying even though there were doubts. They didn’t give up, they kept on going. Thank you. Imogen Hello, I know you (this one’s for Michael). You died fighting with my grandad. You remember him, Mac, Mac McTaggart. He was the commander back then. Hope you’re doing well resting. Bailey (Mac’s grandson) On Thursday 11th November, we must remember what these brave souls did for our country, fighting for their lives to save the lives of others. Joe 34
