Liminal Spaces: London's Underground Soundscapes

Page 1

This book is a guide to the liminal acoustic sounds of London. I chose buskers as my muse for the paintings you will find in the book. Each painting represents a different trainline.

I recorded five trainlines and made a sound wave for each one. I decided to keep them uniform in style to avoid the sound wave being too busy.

Below each sound wave is a QR code that links to the recordings of the various tube lines. The tubelines I chose are meant to be the noisiest trains in London. They are the Central Line, Circle Line (people noisy), Jubilee Line, Northern Line and Piccadilly Line. Although I do believe the Victorian Line is meant to be noisy too, however, I did not explore this for this edition.

I sincerely hope you enjoy exploring the sounds, as well as riding the waves that are an intergral part of London as we know it.
