What is Material Handling?

Material handling is the term used to process goods and materials within a warehouse, facility, or storage area.

Material handling can be classified as the movement, protection, storage and control of materials and products in the facility.

Material handling equipment such as forklifts and order pickers make material handling easier and includes activities such as truck loading / unloading trucks, palletizing products, bringing goods to be shipped from the warehouse.

Bulk Handling Material Equipment The term 'bulk handling equipment' refers to the storage, control and transportation of material in bulk and loose form. Food, beverages, liquids, metal products (such as screws and nails) and mineral handling are just a few.

In general, these equipment mainly deal with these items when they are loose. One example is a conveyor belt used to move items from one part of the production process to another. Drums and hoppers can be used to 'funnel' these loose items into steps that make it easier to manipulate or pack them.

Most trucks of this type have useful properties, such as forks or flat surfaces, which can be inserted under pallets or other types of storage platforms. Other trucks require separate equipment items for lifting.
