What is KCL
At King’s College London gymnastics club we are excited to welcome gymnasts of all levels, from those who have never tried gymnastics before, to experienced competitors. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to try gymnastics because it is a sport that provides a great sense of achievement and self-development. As a community, we support each other through learning new skills, developing strength and flexibility, and even competing against other university gymnasts. In 2021/22 we were a joint society with cheerleading, however, we have now become an independent society to provide our gymnasts with more opportunities and Gymnastics?

Hi everyone! I was part of the society last year, and I had a great time! Everyone is supportive and nice, and most of us come to have fun and try out new skills. SessionsTraining
Registration for KCL sessions must be done online using the google form sent in the weekly email. All silver and gold members must complete this 24 hours prior to the session to be guaranteed a space, after this, spaces will open for PAYG and bronze members.
We work in collaboration with the other London university gymnastics societies to allow more flexibility for our gymnasts. The sessions all take place at Talacre Community Sports Centre and each session has limited spaces per university, depending on the day. The timetable is as follows:
Being back at gymnastics after four years of absence was not an easy task, but the KCL Gymnastic team made it the best experience I have ever had with this sport so far. Kindness, support and caring were the keywords During training or competitions, I could always hear some voices cheering for me, at any time. If I could give only one piece of advice to new members, I would simply recommend being part of the team, as often as possible, because this society will return you twice as much as you give to it. Sharing experiences, tips, meals, or even some drinks, will make you a better gymnast, as well as a better person I hope you will enjoy being a KCL gymnast as much as I did I would have never believed I could learn such skills or have such friends, but here I am, and here you will be

Competitive gymnasts must hold a KCL gymnastics membership (of any level) to enter competitions, this is for insurance and affiliation purposes. There are many opportunities to compete throughout the academic year, so even if you are unsure in Term 1 you can give it a go in Term 2. Gymnasts are required to pay for travel and accommodation for the weekend, and entry if not a Gold member. We aim to keep comp costs as low as possible by sharing transport and accommodation with other London universities. We also get support towards the cost of competition from KCLSU and will be able to claim back £5 entry per person for each UGC competition, as well as money towards transport and accommodation.

BUCS
Much like UGC, BUCS caters for all levels and is great fun! We compete against all the British universities so it’s a great opportunity to see more of the Date:community!45/02/23

Get to know our committee!
Hi, I’m Zélie, your Vice-President I’m super excited to meet you all in September and get to know you I joined KCL Gymnastics last year, and I had never done gymnastics before. Everyone was very welcoming and supportive and I really want the society to continue to be a safe place this year so that everyone can train and improve at their own pace. I competed once last year at the beginners’ level, and I really had a great time! I never expected to like gymnastics that much because starting a new sport so late can be intimidating, but I am so glad I went to the taster session and tried it out I am the least flexible person in the world and had zero skills before I started, so if I did it, you can do it as well!! As the Vice President, I really want to create a welcoming environment for both people that are experienced, and those who are complete beginners, so please come along and don’t be afraid to ask questions :)
Hi, I’m Olivia, your KCL gymnastics president. I have been a gymnast since I was 6 years old and have competed at the English Championships, as well as internationally. I was on the committee as a competition officer last year and competed in the University Gymnastics Cup final, where I came second place in the advanced women's category. As you can probably tell I absolutely love the sport of gymnastics, and have not only competed myself but am also a qualified BG coach I am super excited to be president this year to provide as many people with a chance to try gymnastics as possible and give lots of exciting new opportunities to KCL gymnasts. My goal has always been to get people involved in the sport and share my love for it, from achieving a new skill to going on trips and competitions with friends. I look forward to meeting you all this season, and if you have any questions make sure to get in contact with me :)

EvaTreasurerGalbraith Hi, I’m Nina, your Social Secretary, Social Media Officer, and Wellbeing Officer this year! Having lived in four different countries, I am always excited to meet new people from all areas and backgrounds, and so am looking forward to meeting you all in September. I grew up doing Tumbling in Belgium, so you can usually find me on the floor or trampoline, although I am excited to learn new skills for competitions next year. As your Social Secretary, I look forward to introducing sports nights and organising exciting events such as trampoline park excursions and other trips! You can find me behind some of our social media posts, and am always happy to answer any questions or meet up for chats! Being a Social Sec with Wellbeing Lead responsibilities, I can’t wait to really get to know everyone and you’re always welcome to drop me a message and I’m happy to grab a coffee anytime!

Hi, I’m Megs and I am your Gymnastics Captain this year! Despite quitting gymnastics when I was 7, I have been coaching gymnastics for 9 years now across four different gymnastics clubs and have a BG coaching qualification. Last year, I set up the gymnastics society and I can't wait to see how the society grows this year with the new committee! I absolutely love the sport of gymnastics and want as many people to fall in love with it as possible, whether you’re a beginner or have been in the sport for years! A lot of people think gymnastics is a really hard sport to join as an adult, but as our members can tell you this isn’t the case and we have something for everyone no matter what level you are! Please don’t hesitate to message me if you have any questions and I can’t wait to see you in September! Megs Lowe Captain, Uniform Sec Hi, My name's Eva and I am the Treasurer for gymnastics this year! I did gymnastics when I was in my early teens and loved it but I quit when I was 14 to dance. I can’t wait to try it out again and see what I can still do! I taught acrobatics for quite a few years at my dance school and came to really love it, because of this, floor is my favourite apparatus! We aim to make gymnastics as affordable and accessible as we possibly can so that as many people as possible are able to give it a go Although gymnastics isn’t a team sport, there is such a sense of community and you will make the best friends that cheer you on every step of the way both at training and competitions!. Don’t be scared to come along and give it a try if you are a novice because everyone’s welcome and you definitely won’t be alone :) I can’t wait to meet everyone in the new year!
